How to unlock the Master Oculist achievement in Child of Light - Definitive Guide
To get this achievement, you'll want to continue playing the game until attain Oculi from a chest or battle. Once you have three of the same pieces, which will most likely be Sapphires or Rubies, combine them together to craft a higher quality version of them.
For a DETAILED GUIDE on the crafting system including all combinations & effects, click HERE.
Examples of different types of Occuli are Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Diamond ect. You can also combine different names ones to create completely new Occuli instead of just enhanced versions.
For a detailed guide on the whole crafting system and what you can create, see Maka's link above/below in his solution and check out his video :)
EDIT: This achievement may not be unlocking quite the number of people, so it may be a little glitchy. There is no news as of yet as to why this is.
Press Options and go to the Oculi screen, then click on the big "Craft Oculi" button. You can arrange up to 3 gems in the slots on the left, and combine them into a different gem. If you press square it will show you what kind of combinations are valid.
- 3 gems (same colour + size) = 1 larger gem
- 2 primary colour gems (red/green/blue) = 1 secondary colour gem (orange/purple/turquoise)
- 3 primary colour gems (same size, different colours) = 1 white gem
- 3 secondary colour gems (same size, different colours) = 1 black gem
- 1 white gem + 1 black gem (same size) = 1 rainbow gem
For the trophy, just make any valid combination - eg. a red gem and a blue gem, or 3 small red gems.
An Oculi is an item that you can equip onto characters' weapons and other equipment in order to improve them in some way. Oculi’s can be found in coffers that are opened by shining Igniculus over them with for a few seconds or the coffers that are opened by Aurora with . They can also be dropped by enemies. In the pause menu, there is another menu called “Oculi”; go into this menu and choose “Craft Oculi”. In order to do this, you must have at least 2 other Oculi’s that you can fuse together to create a brand new one. Add the 2 Oculi to the crafting wheel then press the centre to create it, when that is done the trophy will pop.
Note that not every Oculi can be fused together, you will have to find a combination that works.
Example: Rough Ruby + Rough Sapphire = Rough Amethyst
For more information on crafting oculi, see Maka's Crafting Guide.
To craft an oculi, you simply need to combine multiple stones to create a new, better type. You can increase the quality of each stone type by combining three together (3x Rough = Tumbled, 3x Tumbled = Faceted, 3x Faceted = Brilliant) and then combining the gems will increase their rarity:
- Sapphire + Ruby = Amethyst
- Sapphire + Emerald = Tourmaline
- Ruby + Emerald = Citrine
- Sapphire + Ruby + Emerald = Diamond
- Amethyst + Tourmaline + Citrine = Onyx
- Diamond + Onyx = Spinel
Oculi can be equipped to affect a weapon, armor, or your timeline. The top three types of each rarity will affect them in different ways.
- Weapon: Increase speed (Diamond), Increase spell power (Onyx), Increase attack power (Spinel)
- Armor: Increase XP gain (Diamond), Reduce damage at low HP (Onyx), Increase speed when interrupted (Spinel)
- Timeline: Increase casting speed (Diamond), Increase dodge at low HP (Onyx), Begin battle ahead on timeline (Spinel)
In other words, a Brilliant Diamond will offer the best XP gains, while a Rough Diamond will offer the lowest. A full crafting guide can be found here.
