How to unlock the Ultimate Champion achievement in Chime - Definitive Guide
A few tips for trying to get this achievement.
1) Aquaint yourself with the Y button.
- Not sure where the last few uncovered squares are? Holding he Y button will overlay the covered grid on top so that you can see where the uncovered squares are and where you need to make the quads.
2) Don't worry so much about trying to keep your multiplier
- When you lose your multiplier it also clears the small scraps from the board. It does not clear any pieces that have not been used at all in a quad yet though so be careful if you build around a 1 or 2 square piece against a wall.
3) Keep it tidy
- Try to start in a corner or a side and work across the grid so that you can keep things in order and have more room to work with when clearing the last few squares in a grid. It's easier to to fit pieces together in open space then against the side if you're pressed for time
4) Coverage Bonuses
- If the timer starts to flash on your screen try to hurry to a 10% if you can get to it (10%, 20%, etc) as you will receive a time bonus (Try to avoid working on these too much as they will instantly clear if the timer runs out.)

So in terms of difficulty, how hard is this achievement?

Good question T R U 7 H X. By the solution it sounds really easy but I beat it's quite the opposite!

Sorry to dis-credit, but both solution are wrong.
Be messy and fast... really fast, make as many clusters as you can, as soon as a piece comes along that you cant use just dump it elsewhere and start another block. You should have around 10 blocks all active at the same time, then just fill in the blanks.
Using small blocks and being messy means you dont overrun your blocks into squares on the grid that are already covered, its pointless as you are going for coverage.
In a nutshell... quick, messy and many. dont dwell on a mistake, move on and make more mess by the time you are even close to finsihing with new block your mistake would have now dissappeared making it easy to go back and get them squars covered!

I got it on a glitch. I'll share to see if it's just me or not. I had 100+% on the first four levels and 99% on lemon jelly. Frustrated, I decided to go for the 25+ combo on Brazil, 9 minutes. I kept playing for the points after I got the 25 combo and once I filled the grid in 100% the first time, the achievement popped. So, its possible it's only checking for 5 filled grids regardless of time... might be worth checking out.
Update: TMS45 confirms that as of November 2014, this still works if you clear your cache and get it offline. It's been patched if you're online and up-to-date, however.
Update 2: HappyCampersII confirms it works as of April 2018. Just don't update the game when you first download it / delete the cache files and play offline.

I beat all levels in 100% either in 3 6 or 9 min.
Im assuming you have to beat the level 100% (on 6 or 9) but must get a score lower than your 3 min time.
Can you confirm this?

i found level 4 harder to 100%. I did them all on 3min mode, the game isn't that hard to need to cheat.

(Credit to "DragonYen" for glitch, tested by myself)
Along with the other general guides for actually completing the levels, I've tested a glitch that saves you the hassle of the fifth level.
After beating four of the levels 100% in 3-minute mode, you can play the fifth level in either 6 or 9 minute mode (I did 9, to give lots of room for laziness/etc,). As long as you cover the grid 100% once, the achievement should pop up after the grid clears. It took about 10 seconds for mine to pop up.
You still need to do four of the levels. It is unconfirmed whether or it is level 1-4 that need to be completed in 3-minute mode, but it may be possible that any four levels can be done in 3-minute mode, with the last one being in 6 or 9 minute mode.

For me the solution was to minimize time and wasted movement. I found I was getting fixated on chaining quads and wasn't filling in the worst areas first - which for me were the corners and the more restricted areas. So I'd get to 98% and have three squares missing somewhere on the edge with a wall of fragments blocking them.
So I tried to:
1) Cover the corners first, then sides. It's harder to get the last few squares if they're stuck in a corner behind a bunch of fragments.
2) Do a bunch in a quarter of the map, then move to another quarter and give the fragments time to vanish. I was wasting seconds moving back-and-forth for the 'best' placement.
3) Build small quads that don't leave big fragments whenever you can.
4) When you get pieces that don't fit well, try to jam them in where any fragments will be on already-covered space. Then abandon the fragments, and let 'em time out.

Okay, I went through a lot of work for this.
I re-played all of the songs in 3-Minute Mode to provide very high quality video strategies for each song-puzzle, with each video showing 100%+ Completion!
I then made a Playlist for all 5 videos.
This is the best solution I have managed to play out for all 5 puzzles, especially the full completion for Disco Ghosts solution!
Enjoy, and please leave feedback!

Moby - Oh Yeah, Baby!
Markus Schulz - Spilled Cranberries
Fred Deakin of Lemon Jelly - Disco Ghosts
Philip Glass - Brazil
Pault Hartnoll of Orbital - For Silence

I can confirm that what happened to IffyCiffy happened to me, too. I had over 100% on each of the first four levels on 3 minute mode. I played the last level on 9 minute mode and the instant I gained more than 100% completion I received this achievement. I don't know any more than that such as if you can get it by doing all 9 minute mode for example, but you definitely need more than 100% not just 100% on the dot.
This achievement requires you to get at least 100% coverage on each stage while playing in the lowest time limit, 3 minutes. This is easily the hardest achievement in the game as certain stages such as Ooh Yeah have more obscure shapes than others and the 3 minute time limit is very short. Keep practicing each stage, learning the most effective ways to use the various shapes on each one and eventually you'll be able to unlock this achievement. One tip for those who are having trouble seeing the coverage - if you hold the button, it will fade the current blocks out of the way and only show the coverage.
