The Rite of the Star will become available as you progress through the story. Personally I got this achievement during the Circle Brutality sub mission, which is given to you by a ship near Selinak Haven in the Stega Rim. After you collect the 5 pieces of cargo 4 enemy ships will show up. They fly in tight formation straight towards you, making it easy to line up, smash right through them, and pop the achievement. There will however be plenty of opportunities later in the game, so don't worry if you miss or have already completed that mission.

Found a mission with the racing siblings where you have to protect the racers (in the Amarok system) and at the end of the race when enemies converge on the two, they are in very close proximity. I was able to get 3 in one short burst.
Not sure if it opens later or not. A note I did not complete (failed many times, but never won) the race against the brother in Stega Central)

Now that I'm noticing how common it is... as soon as enemies spawn in, they are typically close together. Wait a sec until you see health bars then hit (and hold) RB to spear 'em.
