How to unlock the Goldfinger achievement in Clicker Heroes - Definitive Guide
This achievement is for defeating 10,000 treasure chests in the game (you do not need to do all 10,000 in one ascension). Treasure chests show up randomly as enemies, but you can affect how often they appear with one of the ancients, Dora.
The game calculates the odds of a treasure chest appearing with this formula: 1 + [(Dora level) * .2] %
This means that if you don't yet have Dora, the odds of a treasure chest appearing as an enemy is just going to be a flat 1%. At Dora level 1, it will be 1.2%, and will increase by .2% thereafter until Dora has reached its maximum level. In the current version on console, Dora has a max level. That max level is 50 (for a total of +10% and a grand total of 11% chance for a monster to spawn as a chest). The game has been updated on PC for Dora to no longer have a maximum level (with a different formula), which the console version is likely to update to at some point (for example, on my game on PC, I have a level 288 Dora, which works out to about a 44% chance of a treasure chest). You can also go beyond this maximum by having relics that increase Dora's level.
This achievement will come over time well before you reach zone 3,600, so you do not need to specifically farm for this achievement if you are ultimately planning on completing the game. I got Dora a bit later than what is ideal, and without farming at all, this popped for me on my 71st ascension (around 1100 highest zone ever). However, if you nonetheless want to get this achievement as fast as possible the best way would be to level Dora up as much as possible (including focusing on obtaining relics that increase Dora's level) and farm at the highest non-boss zone that you can safely "Instakill" any enemy. You can track your progress on this through the in-game achievement tab which will automatically update for every treasure chest you defeat.
"But VegaDark541, I've compared the number of monsters defeated compared to the number of treasure chests defeated, and it's well below 1%! What gives?"
First off, boss zones will never be able to become a treasure chest so you need to factor those in. Furthermore, when you kill monsters offline, it will count towards your total number defeated, but will not count the number of treasure chests defeated while offline, so that can screw up the ratio. While actually playing the game the percentages should match up.

Thanks for writing a real guide with thought put into it. This should help a lot of people.
The only thing I'd add is the current max level for Dora and the bonus she gives at that level.

I agree, I plan on adding that information. I currently don't have Dora so I'm waiting to find out what those are...I believe based on memory Dora's max level is 40 which would give an extra +8% chance but it's been so long since I've played a version where Dora has a max level I was waiting to confirm.

Upgrade Dora to at least level 20 and find a zone where the monsters die immediately and afk. I left my xbox on for 2 nights and was able to get it!

Treasure chests are random enemy spawns that occur (unaltered in the wild) about 1% of the time. Kill 10,000 of them.
First, a perspective of what this might look like. If you had unlimited dps and were knocking enemies out as fast as the game would allow you, you'd be seeing just under 2 enemies per second {(1 frame for death + 15 frames to respawn) x 2 = 32fps.] If it was truly guaranteed that 1 in 100 enemies were treasure chests, and you were insta-killing your targets, it'd take approximately 58 days of straight play time.
That's a bummer. Here's a couple things that may help speed that up:
After you're a ways into the game and you start ascending and cashing in your Hero Souls. There is a summon you can tag in named Dora, The Ancient of Discovery (/ The Explorer), you can buy to help raise the chance you'll see a treasure chest. Dora isn't cheap, but it's definitely worth it.
After you've started transcending as well, there is an outsider named Sen-Akhan that can help you see more treasure by boosting Dora's effect.
Here's some other things that I discovered:
• Turning off any game settings (ie: animations) does not seem to help the enemies die faster.
• Summoning Mimzee, Ancient of Riches (+to gold dropped out of treasure chests) I thought was helpful to accompanying leveling Dora. Made those treasure hits more exciting when they pay out more.
• Mixed bag of theories out there saying that treasure chests spawn gradually go down the further you go into the game. I thought it definitely felt that way, but cannot confirm. So if this is the last trophy to get, maybe stay low level.
• Autoclickers can be your friend and I thought were crucial at getting the ball rolling. If you're looking for something to throw your gems at in the beginning, I say go for it.
It was only after I had spent my vacation time to try to finish this trophy that I found a popular "exploit" that's out there that may help speed things up by cutting the respawn time to almost nothing. (~15kps!? NO WAY.) It involves having a certain mode on and holding a certain button. (Sorry, there's marathon runners in here and I can't spoil it for them. Even though you may stumble across it on accident.)
Happy sailing, friend!

There is a glitch you can do at every 99th stage. Go to your Xbox network settings and switch to offline then immediately restart your console. (MAKE SURE YOU MANUALLY QUIT THE GAME ON THE XBOX DASHBOARD) Then go back to settings then press system, then time, you will be able to edit your time (ONLY USE YEARS 1970-2037)As soon as you are on the 99th stage wait until right as you’re about to reach the 5th or 6th enemy on the 99th stage then immediately hold down LT until you start to see your hero souls going up then you can put a quarter between to keep the LT button down. Set a timer for every 13 to 14 mins to make sure you press a button or your controller will cut off and the glitch will have to be restarted
*NOTE* YOU HAVE TO UPGRADE THE DORA ANCIENT AND THE SOLOMON ANCIENT HERO FOR MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY. YOU MUST USE STAGE 299 FOR MAXIMUM HERO SOUL GAINS.

It will probably be one of the longest lasting trophies. Chests appear randomly throughout the levels.

Dasha - the patriarch of travel - gives +20% to the chance of a chest appearing at level 1, at level 50 (this is the maximum) +1000%. But by the time you reach 3600 and get the “Zone Conqueror” trophy, you’ll have collected twice as many chests.

Regarding Dasha, the patriarch of travel, I disagree. I'm 70 and have room to grow. + 1417.37% Chests.
