How to unlock the Faster than Electricity achievement in Close to the Sun - Definitive Guide
There seems to be a terrible lack of information about this game on the internet, and therefore a lack of info on the achievements. This achievement, as the description states, requires you to beat the game in under 3 hours. Seems like a decently straightforward task ,and not too complicated, as my two attempts were done in just over an hour and a half. However, there are two hidden requirements that aren't stated. These are:
-You cannot die at all, as a death voids the clock. If you die, you have to start the whole game over, as the game will save the death right as you die, and you can't chapter select for this achievement. So, the obvious route would be to do this achievement and the one for not dying at the same time.
-You CAN NOT pause the game at all. I found this one out the hard way. There's a few long cutscenes in this game, so you can plan bathroom breaks, etc. around these.
I used this guide for all the codes and when the chases take place:

I would highly recommend a separate playthrough for the collectibles/miscellaneous achievements, and to get a feel for the layout of the levels. If you have an issue with my guide, comment how I can improve it, all constructive criticism welcome.

Unlocked this doing a full collectable run, dying multiple times, and going back to main menu once. I also paused the game many times.

They may have patched this game since I wrote this guide, as I completed it in November of 2019.

Run through the game in under three hours. Dying doesn't affect this at all. I've been told that you shouldn't hit pause, and do it all in one run. That's what I did.
There's an 82 minute speed run, so this is definitely possible. Do your first play to get all of your collectibles and learn the way through the game. But don't worry about the clock. As long as you keep moving forward, 3 hours is really cake.
And I died twice through my run. Still popped. If you die, just keep moving.

Three hours is plenty of time as it only takes two hours, give or take, for a speed run. While it is probably possible to get all the collectibles using a guide and this trophy at the same time, I recommend doing it on a dedicated play through.
The guide over at TrueAchievements claims that dying or bringing up the pause menu invalidates the Xbox achievement. Because of this, I did not bring up the pause menu at any point to validate if that is indeed the case for the trophy but I did die twice; once on Chapter 4 and another on Chapter 6. Dying did not invalidate the trophy; it popped after escaping in the pod at the end.

This trophy could be combined with the trophy for passing without dying, and with platinum in theory and getting it in just three hours, but there is one thing: in addition to the collective trophies, which can be calculated from the video and picked up along the way, a trophy for passing without deaths can ruin all your plans. One mistake that will lead to your death is equal to rolling back to the last save file. And then the timer goes off.
Checked personally.
So you have to choose: either a speedrun, or a passage without dying.
As for me, it’s easier to run through the game again, since it’s very short.
