How to unlock the Determiner of Fate achievement in CODE VEIN - Definitive Guide

CODE VEINSecret AchievementThe Secret Achievement achievement in CODE VEIN worth 47 pointsContinue playing to unlock this secret achievement

To get the true ending:

- Restore vestiges of every Attendant of the Relics before fighting a successor. Vestiges are scattered throughout the map, but they are located in the same area of the attendant. After fighting the Successor you must return to the place where the attendant used to wait, this because they drop an Eos vestige. The Eos vestige is used to restore the vestiges of the last attendant located at the lift before you enter the last area of the game. I am not sure if you need to have Io as your companion, but I would suggest this.

- When you have restored all the vestiges of an attendant and you fight the successor, you'll have to interact with them in the memory instead of walking away (which will give you another ending).

To get the good ending:

- Make sure to save every successor (explained above), but do not restore the vestiges at the last attendant before the final boss.

CODE VEINSecret AchievementThe Secret Achievement achievement in CODE VEIN worth 44 pointsContinue playing to unlock this secret achievement

To get the neutral ending:

- You'll be required to atleast save one of the successors. You can then walk away from the remaining successors. To save a successor you MUST acquire all vestiges for the attendant located before the boss room.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CODE VEINSecret AchievementThe Secret Achievement achievement in CODE VEIN worth 74 pointsContinue playing to unlock this secret achievement

To get the bad ending:

- You will need to walk away from every successor inside the memory (after fighting the boss).

Code Vein lets you choose to either play NG+ with enhanced enemies or at the same level of your first run. If you want to speedrun this achievement, I recommend doing the latter. I'm doing my last run for the bad ending. Good hunting everyone!

It didn't work for Io, but people can get the Good & True ending in one playthrough. Save everyone a lot of time.
Restore successors -> Ignore Io -> Fight last boss -> Good Ending
Continue Save -> View Io Memories -> Fight last boss -> True Ending

HappyTheDevil do you mean ignore Io the whole game or just before the last area?

I mean just ignore restoring all her memories. You can partner with her the whole game if you want, as long as you don't touch her memories.

You don’t need to have Io as your partner, if that helps someone.

Is the true ending the one where
I'm just trying to figure out which one I got 'cause some people are saying to partner with Io. I didn't have her partnered with me, and so I'm trying to figure out if I just got the good ending or the true ending.

A note for those on Playthrough 2:

After defeating the Invading Executioner in the Howling Pit, you're supposed to be rewarded with Fionn Vestige I during the cutscene. In NG+ onward, this does not happen. For some reason, the game does not give you the Vestige after the battle.

However, if you collect the rest of the Fionn vestiges scattered around the Ridge of Frozen Souls and repair them before entering the boss room, you can still restore Nicola's memory.

I've unlocked "Dweller in the Dark" "To Eternity" and "Heirs". but this achievement still hasn't popped

You need both the good ending and the true ending, which count only as one dweller achievement. But both are required!

To clear things up for those confused the ending achievement for all endings is actually a 4th secret ending. It won’t unlock until you’ve done this. Restore all successors and kill final boss for true ending, then load ur game and restore the eos vestiges and kill the final boss a second time. At least for me that is what I had to do.

A note: the achievements for the Neutral and Bad endings unlock DURING the cutscene after defeating the final boss, but the achievement for the Good ending unlocks AFTER the credits roll.

"you'll have to interact with them in the memory instead of walking away"
I skip all cutscenes because I don't care about the story but I choose "restore memory" after beating each successor. Is that meant with interact?

Can you get both the good ending and the true ending in the same playthrough? Does it work if you do the good ending first and then go back to give all the Eos vestiges to the last attendant and then fight the final boss again?

I discovered on my new character that you don't need to view any memories with the attendant outside the successor fights.
As long as you have all the Vestige parts on you, you will be able to restore the successor after the fight.
I did it with Aurora, and to make sure it wasn't a one off I did it with Nicola as well.
I don't know if it would work with Io, but I'll let you know when I finish the playthrough ~

One thing that I think is worth explicitly mentioning is that vestiges don't carry over to NG+. If you do a blind playthrough and accidentally get the true ending first, you can do another run restoring all successors but not Io's memories. I did this and thought I was screwed when I read about all the ending requirements, but I just finished the fourth ending and popped the achievement.

Unrelated, but none of the achievements popped during the cutscenes for me. Don't freak out if you get back to the main menu and haven't had a bleep-bloop yet.

The available solution or other info online left a lot of things unclear for me and it cost me an unnecessary 4th playthrough just to get good ending, so to learn from my mistakes:
There are 4 different endings that you must get in order to unlock this achievement. They are True, Good, Neutral and Bad, but there are only 3 achievement tied to endings. True and Good endings share the achievement.
It is possible and recommended by me to get this achievement in 3 playthroughs, because if you do everything right you can get Good and then True ending in one playthrough.

My game plan:
1st playthrough: Good and True ending. I suggest you do this in your first playthrough, because you will be doing most exploring during it anyway, and as you guessed it, good and true endings require most work. So get Good ending
and kill the final boss, then you will be returned to your home base and when you exit the door next to the mistle for the first time it will start the cutscene of the ending you received, but after that and credits and title screen you will spawn back at the mistle before final boss and you can then get True ending by

2nd playthrough: Speedrun through the game and just kill bosses, don't collect any vestiges and you will get bad ending and should also get all blood codes achievement

3rd playthrough: Speedrun through the game, but in
. You can kill everything else and just run though the game. That should get you Neutral ending and also THIS ACHIEVEMENT.

The endings are tied ONLY to certain vestiges (memories) that you must first find in levels and then restore them with help of

Here is a quick guide for speedruning the game or just if you are not sure where to go next. SPOILERS!

Useful info:
*You only start New Game when you approach the door in Home Base after final cutscene and credits, and title menu, AND then try to exit the door. The game will tell you something like: "You will not be able to return here!" when you defeat final boss, but that is not true!
*NG+ can be played on the same difficulty (I advise this because NG+ difficulty is no joke)
*NG+ you keep all your gear, and items (apart from chemical light and other shit I never used anyway)
*NG+ you keep your map so it is highly advisable to get each location to 100% on first playthrough, each mistle must be activated though, you can't just teleport to last boss wink
*Health upgrades have a cap, 10 heals and 6 heal increases, if you get let's say 8 and 3, you can get remaining in NG+ (by collecting the same ones or those you missed)
*Health upgrades must be activated in inventory after collecting for them to work

I wanted to save people some time unlike myself where I had to play through the game four times! There are a total of four endings which the game considers to be different.

Heirs (Bad Ending), To Eternity (Neutral Ending) & Dweller in the dark x 2 (Good Ending)

The ending you receive is determined by the successors memories you restore, and by whether you choose to restore Io's Memories (Eos Vestige Parts). Throughout the game there are a total of four successor major boss fights you will fight who will have an NPC right before the boss door that is identical to Io. You must ensure that you restore all vestiges available with this NPC if you wish to have the 'restore memory' option available to you when you defeat the corresponding boss.

Steps:

1) Play through the game and restore all four successors vestiges before defeating them. After defeating them and watching a memory sequence ensure you press 'X' next to their petrified body to restore their memory. After defeating each boss make sure you pick up the Eos Vestiges which will be placed where the NPC was before the boss door. However *DO NOT* restore the Eos Vestiges. You will still be able to receive the 'Restore All Vestiges' Trophy after defeating the final boss.

2) Beat final bosses

*Receive Dweller in the Dark Ending #1

3) Re-load your save, restore all Eos Vestiges, beat final boss

*Receive Dweller in the Dark Ending #2 (No trophy is received for this)

4) Start a new game plus (Don't choose to enhance the difficulty), run through the game and don't restore any memories of the successors. Just head through the door once you defeat each boss

*Receive Heirs Ending

5) Start another new game plus, run through the game but you must restore the memory of *ONE* successor.

*Receive To Eternity Ending

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This way you receive all four endings on a single save, without having to play through the game four times. Steps 4 and 5 are interchangeable if you want to leave your Heirs run for last.

If anything is unclear please let me know and I can elaborate on my solution :)

There are four endings in Code Vein: Dweller in the Dark (two versions), Heirs, and To Eternity. Each ending is determined by whether or not you have restored the memories of each successor and/or Io. The good news is you can get all four in just three playthroughs. Just make sure to do both Dweller in the Dark endings together, as defined below. All four endings must be done on the same save file and this cannot be cheesed with any offline save tricks. It is highly advised not to choose Enhanced difficulty when going to a new game, as you will be in for a proper butt kicking if you do. Simply choose to go to NG+ without enhancing the difficulty for each ending. The endings are as follows and can be done in any order:

Dweller in the Dark [Good]: You must restore all four successor’s memories. Do so by collecting all the Vestige parts and restoring them with the Attendant of the Relics right before the boss fight, then you must defeat each boss and chose to restore that successors’ memories when prompted. You must also make sure to not restore all of Io's Vestiges just yet. You can pick them up off the ground, just make sure not to restore them. Beat the final boss and if done correctly, you will be at Home Base with everyone alive and well. Walk out the back door near where the mistle used to be to trigger the end cutscene and roll the credits.

Dweller in the Dark [True]: After following the above steps and rolling the credits, you can continue your game right before the final boss fight. Now travel back to Home Base and restore all seven of Io's memories via Eos Vestiges. Once you have done them all, travel back to the Gaol of Stagnant Blood and defeat the final boss once more. Repeat the above steps to trigger the cutscene and if everything is done right, there will be an additional two second scene that will give you this ending and the "Dweller in the Dark" achievement.

Heirs: In order to get this bad ending, you must not restore the memories of the four successors. Just leave all of their Vestige parts on the ground, then walk out at the end of their memory. Do so for all of them and defeating the final boss will give you this ending and the "Heirs" achievement.

To Eternity: To get the neutral ending, you must restore more than one but less than all of the successor’s memories. I suggest walking out on all of them except the Successor of the Breath, because the Vestige parts are easiest to find. Once again, make sure to walk out on at least one successor, while restoring the memories of at least one as well. If done correctly, you will get this ending and the "To Eternity" achievement.

This requires you to obtain all 4 endings.

1) Heirs (bad ending) - kill every successor
2) To Eternity (mid ending) - Kill 1-3 successors, save the rest
3) Dweller in the Dark (good ending) Save all successors
4) Best ending - save all successors and restore all eos vestiges (unsure if its eos you need)

The route I used and the most efficient I believe is this:

1) Run the game as normal, restore all vestiges but not all eos vestiges
2) Beat the final boss, and reload your save again now restore the eos vestige and kill them again
(I believe you should get the queen vestiage from this.)
3) Start NG+ (Starting on the same difficulty will make this much easier)
(You can skip the tutorial by walking to the mistle)
4) kill every successor again and beat the game once more
5) NG+ once more, kill all successors but one ( I saved eva since she's the last successor)

I get this seems really arduous but a NG+ run takes about 4 hours tops if you don't suck.

Carefully! I completed the game with different endings from different saves, but they didn’t give me a trophy.
Forget about transferring to a flash drive and the cloud. You can't get through it in one playthrough.

IMPORTANT! There are 4 of them in total, not 3. The ending "Path into the Unknown" has 2 versions.

Before fighting with the guardians on the map, you need to pick up memory fragments. Io uses shards to restore memories. After the fight with the guardian, something like a cutscene with his past starts, which cannot be missed. At the end of the cutscene, you can make a choice, either restore his memory, or leave through the door behind him. Getting endings differs in how many guardians need to restore their memories.

Details in the description of the trophies that are obtained for achieving a certain ending.

Exactman is wrong, 3 playthroughs are enough, 2 good endings are combined in 1 pass. At first they don’t collect Io’s memories, they knock down the boss and its cut scene, rolls back until the boss is killed. (The game itself rolls back, not the backup) Then we look at the fragments of Io and again bring down the last.

Before ng+ there will be a choice - start on increased difficulty or on normal. I chose the second and regretted it because the enemies remain the same level as in ng1 (that is, at the beginning of the game all enemies are one-shotted) and in this case you can carry all 4 ng in a day and a half, but on the 2nd and further playthroughs you will not increase the character’s level much.

MefbI4 it’s good if that’s the case, it didn’t count for me using this method and I ran again, fortunately I liked the toy. And as for NG+ with increased difficulty, it is too high and you still have to run several times and only stretch out the time. If the goal in itself is only to level up, then it’s probably worth it, if you get platinum it will take much longer, but in the end I got platinum at lvl 230.

You need to go through the game 4 times on 1 save, after receiving the ending, go out the door from the base and select a new game without increasing the difficulty. IMHO the option with increasing complexity can break you and you will give up.

Maybe it will help someone avoid confusion.

Bad ending (we don’t restore the memory of the guardians - there are 4 of them, you don’t even have to collect the fragments)

Neutral ending (restore the memory of 2 guardians - I recommend the winter and fire locations IMHO the smallest ones)

Good ending (restore the memory of all the guardians, but don’t even dare pick up the fragments of Eos (1 in the winter location, 1 in the fiery location, 1 in the desert) - they remain after the battle with the boss in the place of the caretaker, (1 in the vicinity of the headquarters and I don’t remember exactly how many in the next one) - they just lie on the location in the form of a red fragment)

Good ending+ (restore the memory of all guardians + restore Io’s memory by collecting and restoring all the fragments of Eos) (the difference from the good ending is in the 2 second moment before the credits, so don’t be alarmed if you did everything correctly, there are 2 videos 1 in 1)

All necessary memories can be restored immediately before the bosses from the caretakers (there are only those that are necessary)

I’ll leave the sequence up to you (if you decide to leave a perfect 100% save at the end with a perfect ending then bad-neutral-good-good+)

I made a mistake myself and went through the game 4 times. When you complete the game without IO fragments, you need to defeat the last boss and enter the gate (where the teleport disappears), after which you see the ending. Not earlier. When you see the ending, the teleport will appear again and you will be able to collect the fragments.
