How to unlock the Deep Trailblazer achievement in CODE VEIN - Definitive Guide

Depths are special areas that can be entered by first giving the maps to Davis, located at Home Base, and then choose the option to head to the Depths. This guide will provide you an insight on how to get all the maps! I recommend playing through the game first before following this guide, it will be easier to teleport.

Depths: Den of Darkness
This should be the first depth map you find. It is located at the region near the Outer Crossroads Mistle. Talk to Shang, he will give you the map.

Depths: Den of Dead
Also found after defeating your first boss. It will be located in the hallway when you go past Shang.

Depths: Town of Sacrifice
This map is found at Dried-up Trenches. For the people that already activated all mistles, teleport to Decayed Ship Interior. Go up the stairs and you will find a dead white knight. The map should be on his body. If you haven't unlocked that mistle yet do not worry, the ship is not missable. If you go around the ship you should find an enemy looking outwards, kill him and there should be a way to jump down. You will find your way to the mistle.

Depths: Swirling Flood
I believe you will unlock this map once you have completed a chain quest from Shang. First he will give you the Den of Darkness. You will need to find an item at the Depths that was given to you. You don't need to complete the Den, simply retrieve the item and return to Shang. Make sure to teleport away and back to see if you can continue his quest or not. You'll know if the second request has been given, as you will be fighting a Trial. After finishing all the waves he will give you a map to the Swirling Flood, asking you to retrieve another item. Again, you don't need to finish the map, simply retrieve it and return to him. After that he should give you the map to Silent White. Conditions are explained for that map below. Make sure to clear out and defeat the bosses of the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood. Otherwise the quest will not trigger.

Depths: Flood of Impurity
When you activate the statue, near the Park Ruins, follow the cave until you reach a ladder. Once you go up make sure to turn around and the map should be there.

Depths: Cliffs of Rust
First NPC quest related item. You will receive this one from the Self-Important Revenant at Dried-up Trenches. Make sure to finish his first quest. He's located at the Parking Garage and will ask you to kill a Lost. It will be marked on your map. Teleport to Park Ruins to get there faster. Kill it and return to him to finish his first quest. He will move to Dried-up Trenches. There he will ask you to retrieve an item, along with the map for this depth. The Self-Important Revenant appears in the Dried-up Trenches at the Decayed Ship Interior Mistle after you complete The Ridge of Frozen Souls.

Depths: Silent White
You will receive this from Shang after finishing Depths: Swirling Flood. I believe you should unlock the map Ridge of Frozen Souls first for him to give you the map.

Depths: Arachnid Grotto
I recommend finishing the story first as I don't exactly know when these npcs spawn. At some point you will find an npc named Gustav at the Dried-up Trenches Entrance. He will ask you to retrieve multiple items throughout all your areas, not just Trenches. I will list the location of these items, to spare you teleporting blindly to random areas hoping to find a marker like I did:
- Ruined City Center, Parking Garage.
- Cathedral of the Sacred Blood, Outlook Tower.
- Ridge of Frozen Souls, Observatory Site.
Meet him later on at Ashen Caverns, Accumulator Ruins to get the map.

Depths: Misty Ruins
This map is found at the Crypt Spire. Just go towards the end of the level. At some point you will find a locked door with a lever next to it and a pathway to the right. Going to the right will lead you to this map.

Depths: Rocky Ruins
This map can be very tricky, buggy etc. I recommend finishing the Self-Important Revenant's questline first. I already explained the first 2 quests above. His last location will be at the Poisonous Butterfly Nest. Talk to him and he will tell you that he’s looking for a location to make a new shelter, but he needs activated Mistle. This item can be found at the Player's Memory area at the start where all the npcs are located. You can access your memory after defeating Argent Wolf Berserker. You can't miss this. Go back to the quest giver and make sure to press talk multiple times (just to be sure or atleast until he keeps repeating himself). Next do the quest for Richard, he will be located at three different areas:
- Howling Pits, Halls of Deception.
- Ridge of Frozen Souls, Entrance. Before fighting the group of enemies there's a hole where you can jump down.
- Ruined City Underground, Natural Cavern Depths.
After finishing his quest at the last location make sure to talk to him until he gives you the map. Should it not work head back to Self-Important Revenant to see if he has to say anything else and then teleport back to Richard's location. Sometimes you need to teleport back and forth. I hope this helps. NOTE: for all the npcs to appear you will most likely have to kill all the bosses in the area.

Depths: Zero District
This map is unlocked after defeating the Queen Revenants Reborn boss located near the end of Provisional Government Outskirts. Simply head towards the new area, you will not miss this item.

Depths: Void District
This map is found at Provisional Government Center, in a room full of boxes and capsules, find a ladder going up. An enemy will drop down. You can jump attack to get an advantage. After killing him go back up and there should be an item on the ground that gives you the map. Note: you don't have to kill the enemy but I suggest you do this first.

When entering the Depths make sure to activate the first mistle and purify the rest in order to scan the area for the 100% achievement, though I received it by just entering the Depths. If you're having trouble with a map you can always add me and ask for help!

Good guide it's helped me find a couple I didn't have! But I believe the conditions you have for swirling flood are incorrect. I have meet the conditions and he won't give me the map, I've actually almost beat the game and he still won't give it to me. I wonder if there isn't an another condition in the howling pit that must be met too.

So I found shangs quest line here https://codevein.wiki.fextralife.com/Shang
The reason it didn't seem to be working for me is because I hadn't done any of his quests up to this point and to start the next quest each time you finish one you have to teleport away from the area and back.

So we've done the first quest for the Self-Important Revenant, but he still has not shown up at the Dried-Up Trenches and we've checked back on this map every time we kill a boss and we've never seen him. Gustav, yes, but not this guy...

We've just finished the Cathedral and he's still not there. Any suggestions?

Gustav is indeed at the start of Dried Up Trenches but Self-Important should be located inside the ship, which would be I believe the second Mistle. Have you checked if he has left the garage at the underground city?

Okay, so you may want to add this to your guide:

The Self-Important Revenant appears in the Dried-up Trenches at the Decayed Ship Interior Mistle after you complete The Ridge of Frozen Souls.

Richard appears on the Ridge of Frozen Souls map after defeating the boss there, but I don't know if his quest has anything to do with the Self-Important Revenant. If you don't do Richard's quest, and the Self-Important Revenant is not in the Dried-up Trenches, you may have to do Richard's quest to get him to appear.

While Richard's quest has nothing to do with Self-Important (you can do all SI quests before Richard and viceversa), they both need to be completed in order for Richard to give you the Depths map. Your information about the frozen map might make sense as I started doing the npc quests after finishing the game. Which I believe I recommended to do so because I don't fully know when some npc quests are triggered. Thanks for the info! I will add it :)

Thanks for the guide and the time it took to make : )
I’m having issues obtaining the Silent White map.
I feel like I’ve completed all the to-do’s, but nobody’s coming up off the silent white map that need. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

The new trials aren't required for this achievement are they? Sorry, new to the game and noticed these were recent additions.

Hi sorry for the late response, and thank you for getting back to us all : )
I haven’t went looking for it as of yet, but I didn’t want to leave you hanging. I’m currently working my through the provisional government center, I plan to mop up the few depths missions I haven’t done. Just didn’t feel right if I didn’t respond.

You don't need to activate/purify any mistles at all in the depths. All you need to do is have Davis send you to each map and then you can leave immediately if you want. You don't need the tower maps for this either.

I saw on reddit that rocky ruins didn't unlock for some reason until you defeat Mido. I did the quest as it's written here and didn't unlock. Then I defeat Mido and visit the Richard and he gave it like it's supposed too.

If like me Richard completely vanished from all 3 locations, it means that you completed all his quests and haven’t done the other NPC’s quest (the one who wants to create a shelter).

I freaked out but it’s actually normal as he spawns again to give you the map.

Thanks a lot for the detailed guide. 👍 Unsurprisingly, it was the Rocky Ruins I was missing. Richard was also AWOL for me as I had already done his quests, just needed to teleport away from Self-important Revenant and back again to get new dialogue. Already past Mido so I can't confirm if that is a requirement. Can confirm that exploration of the depths is unnecessary though: popped as soon as I loaded into my last map.

So its a good guide however the flood is Impurity Map is Not Missable. I past it and didn't know till I came here. To get it teleport to the first location of the Cathedral. Run back into the tunnel and its the pathway on the left. Saying that it is missable is misleading and may cause people to do another playthrough when they do not have to. Fix this and I'll change my down vote to an upvote.

@Surfkiller808X - Yes, I mentioned we did his first quest and now he is no longer in the Parking Garage, however he is also not in the Decayed Ship Interior (the name of the Mistle in the Dried-Up Trenches he should be standing by).

We have re-checked each map after we kill a boss and he's never shown up there.

Getting kind of concerned we've somehow missed him, but I'm stumped as to how that could've happened. Everything I've found online just says he moves there after you do his first quest, which hasn't happened for me or my partner...

WarningRabbit95: Thank you! In order to get the Silent map you need to do a couple things that might've not been explained well! Firstly, finish up Cathedral and defeat the boss in order to get the map for Swirling Flood, explanation above for requirements. If you don't have that map let me know! Secondly, Shang will ask you to retrieve an item in the Swirling Flood. Make sure to grab it AND talk back to him in order to get the map Silent. NOTE: like I said you first need to complete the snow level and beat the successor in order to gain the map. Did that help? I can't add much from what I've written and it's been a while! Sorry for the late reply.

Shred Asics 13: As far as I can tell they don't. The achievement only triggers on the depths listed above! :)

There are 12 parts of the depths, each one requiring a map found through side quests or world exploration. These maps will take you to a dungeon with similar features to their above ground counterparts. They will also have 3-5 bosses each, with the final boss being a rendition of the boss found in that world. To access the depths, talk to Davis at Home Base and he will allow you to fast travel to any map you have access to. Simply visiting each of the 12 maps is enough for the achievement, however most of the maps have a Vestige needed for Mender of Minds (50G) so I recommend clearing all of them. Click HERE for a list of the maps, or use the video below if you prefer that.

There are 12 dungeon maps in the game. Some of them are located in locations, some are given to npcs. The valuables dealer at the crossroads and other immortals who roam around the locations and every now and then ask you to kill the mob that is around the corner. As you progress through the story, return to your previous locations and run to the icons in the form of men. Chat and comply with their requests.

There are 12 depth maps in total. It is not necessary to complete them completely in order for the trophy to appear. All you have to do is go to each map and exit. There are no particular problems with obtaining cards, but in order to get the “Stone Ruins” card you need to work a little:
It is given by an npc named Richard. It is necessary to complete his line of quests, and then complete the quests of other npcs (as I understand his brothers) scattered around the world. Only after this Richard appears for the final time on the map of the “catacombs” - “Depths of the Grotto”, thanks you and gives you this annoying map. You can see clearly how to get this card in the video guide .

List of depth maps:
1. Death Cave
2. Cave of Darkness
3. Sacrificial City
4. Torrent
5. Unclean stream
6. Rusty Rocks
7. White Silence
8. Spider Grotto
9. Misty Ruins
10. Stone ruins
11. Unreal area
12. Void area
