How to unlock the Flag Capture achievement in Cold Alley - Definitive Guide

This actually isn't so bad, considering it's a 1-person game.

As you progress through the campaign, you get faster planes. By the time I'd beaten the 4th mission, I had access to the RFS69. You just need a fast plane.

I played Deep Freeze. I set my wingmen to engage so they'd leave me alone, and I cranked up my throttle and veered left through the canyon and all the way around to the flag, then turned around and did the same. The enemy planes will likely not match yours, and all you need is the speed.

You can obviously pick a different plane or map (Factory is a VERY small map), but I was having issues with some of the maps since I kept running into the entire enemy group. I liked Deep Freeze since I could wind my way back around the outside.

Great solution. Worked perfectly the first time and I didn't really have a great plane for it. I would add that I turned down the enemy difficulty and got lucky into getting the retake your flag achievement during the same run.

You must not only get the red flag, but also bring it back to the blue flag. If your blue flag is at the base and a small blue shield is displayed, you will get points and achievements if you fly the red flag over.

I did Deep Freeze too. I was kind of eager to pop an achievement and I haven't made it past mission one yet to unlock any faster planes.

So I started with the Me-262. The fastest it can go is 559 MPH. So it is pretty slow. I took that canyon to the left like he said. I flew really low to the ground and also close to the canyon wall the whole trip. On your way there, set the wingmen to engage like Sashamorning said. When the Red base was in sight, there might be one plane flying high that might see you.

The enemy plane, or others on your return trip, will get a missile lock on you. Pop flares hitting F at the right moment as needed, but try to conserve your flares.

Grab the flag and turn around. Again, fly low to make their guns hard to hit you and keep the other bogies, that are now to your left, from possibility seeing you and hitting you from that side. When you are on your way back, set your wingmen to cover you. This will bring your other planes close to you.

By the time you are halfway across the open field, and you are pretty confident you can make it back to base, set your wingmen to engage. This will send your wingmen to engage any bogies that have been chasing you since you grabbed the flag. In my second attempt, this left me in the clear.

But Sasha's advice is probably the easiest.

Go into a Capture The Flag match on any map. First get rid of your wingmen so they don't get in your way or capture the flag instead of you. You can see on your radar where the enemy flag is, so just make a bee-line for the flag. You don't have to capture the flag from the enemies base, you can shoot down whoever is holding it, or wait for somebody else to shoot them down and swoop down and get the flag. This is easily achievable with the base plane, but if you are having serious problems you can play some campaign to unlock faster and more agile planes. The achievement will unlock during the game, so you can just quit out once you have it.
