After you beat the bandit boss, you go through all the levels in reverse. They are populated with new, stronger enemies. These enemies are crazy alert and will swarm even if you have the stealth perk. Your partner has very high health of 20+ so do not worry much about them. Be sure to give them a weapon from the last boss. They're all strong guns and make your partner very helpful.
