How to unlock the Grognard achievement in CONSCRIPT - Definitive Guide

For the exact formula on ho to get a S+ rank, I give full credit to this guide I found on a Steam forum:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1286990

Basically, some things you do while playing add points to your score, and to get a S+ Rank you need to get a total of less than 13.

1 Heal 0.8
1 Hour 1.2
1 Save 0.5

For this achievement, you also have to play a New Game (NOT A NEW GAME+) on Veteran, without unlimited saves and without checkpoints.

The most linear path to get this would be saving and healing ONCE per chapter, and completing the game in less than 4 hours and 20 minutes.

However, you can mix up things and do it howerever you feel like.

What I did:

- I saved 5 times (once per chapter, except chapter 1).
- I never healead (I kept repairing Body Armor, which negate damage as long as you equip it and it's not broken. You can find at least two, the first being in the same place where you get the torch).
- With some trial and error, and by replaying saves, I ended up finishing in less than 4 hours.

Some useful tips:

- Know where to go (you should have played this game at least two or three times before tackling this achievement).
- Skip every trench fight except the last one (no ending 1 allowed, as stated by the description of the achievement).
- Skip most of the fights: not only you will save ammo, but rats will not appear.
- As for weapons, if you ask me it's shotgun all the way. I fully maxed it before the last trench fight and I sold all the other weapons and ammos except for the ruby pistol (that I used to shoot barrels in the way). In some places I stealth killed enemies with the knife (there's absolutely no need to keep other melee weapons, sell them as well!)
- You can eat stimulants to increase your stamina and you can drink alcohol to get a small portion of health back and become more tolerant to damage (both stimulants and alcohol don't count as healing).
- Increase the bag size whenever you can, even if it costs a lot (you will have a lot of cigarettes if you sell every single thing you don't plan to use, medikits included).
- By the way; I did not sell Gunpower and Chemical Fluid, but I saved them to make some Shotgun shells before the final fight.
- When you have to decide which cannons to shoot in Trench Support, fire the first and second one from the left. Not only you will get the Revolver (a useful weapon if you run out of Shotgun shells), but you will also take advantage of clear path that will make running back to Heavy Artillery while carrying the heavy ammo easier.
- I would strongly reccomend to save before heading down the tunnels in town. The "turning the valves" sections and the rats can screw your run in the blink of an eye.
