The 100k points barrier is for both players combined. For example, If one player has 30k and the other player has 70k, both players will get the achievement. It is NOT necessary to have one player try to get all the kills.

Your best bet here is get in to a co-op game and let the player trying to get the achievement shoot everything. Simple enough. Other than that just be there to help out with the bosses. If you are both on your A game then you both should not have a problem getting this on a play through.

Get on live with a buddy (or just jump in any game) and hit 100K in points without losing all your lives. Make sure its not a private match or you will not receive this achievement.
