The video skips mold sample E. This is found on the floor of the pit area by a desk

Definitely. This needs more visibility.
I thought I was never gonna beat that boss but the above method works amazing.
Pierce max damage and strong shield was all I needed. So quick too. I barely made it like the video. Lol

There’s a control point right next to the hole you jump down into to fight the boss called Active Threshold Sublevel, so you don’t have to fight those level 9 enemies again.

I had numerous tries but I finally got it after using grip with 3 Level 5 damage boosts along with launching explosive rocks at it.

+1.

Few things.

Firstly, do this after getting all abilities, and have level launch up to the max. Makes it much easier. Make sure you take the control point by the last mold sample. Due to a questionable checkpoint system, you have to get past 6 level 9 enemies EVERY time you die to get back to Mold-1. This control point is called "Active Threshold", and is right above the pit. Run past the enemies, you don't need to take them out each time.

An additional tip, if you hug behind the big rock immediately to the right as you descend into the boss arena itself, you should be largely covered from receiving damage and can use the launch ability to launch the ceiling rocks t the heads, or use pierce weapon form when you run out (charge behind cover and dip out to fire) until Mold-1 has approx. 1/3 health. At this point, the boss will start poisoning the floor so you'll have to move. Levitate constantly and get up in his face, unloading Pierce into the main head AS he is shooting the missiles. There is no benefit to keeping your distance, in my opinion. Use the shield ability if you don't feel comfortable evading the boss' grabs.

The "Old Growth" side mission is given to you by Emily Pope during the "The Face of the Enemy" main mission in the Board room (Executive / Central Executive). First you must collect mold samples so that Dr. Underhill can create a pill that immunizes Jesse to the deadly effects of the Mold. Once done, head down the Pit hole with Mold atmosphere; levitate down cautiously and kill the Mold hosts down there. When you reach the deepest part of the Threshold, you'll fight Mold-1. The main area to focus on is its middle tentacle but it does cover it occasionally. So fire at the partially exposed parts on the left and right tentacles. Use the explosive spores with Launch that are located above you (and fall occasionally) for maximum damage. Taking out the side tentacles first will make easy work of this fight.

The following tactic helped me: don’t let him go wild and kill him even before he makes you levitate.

A strategy that helped me: when falling into the pit towards the boss, we levitate not onto the floor, but onto a square column - this way, during the fight, we will avoid damage from the orange poisonous fumes from below. In the pauses between attacks, we throw exploding burgundy stones at their heads, which we tear off from the ceiling. We shoot from Oskolki. The main task is to have time to neutralize one of them by the time the boss starts hitting with all his heads (the shield cannot withstand a blow from three heads).

Probably the easiest and fastest boss, very sensitive to shots at the “flower” (especially from a “sniper rifle”) and throwing any objects there. Tactics - levitation, with further damage, as in the proposal above.

The battle is generally simple. The boss has few lives.

Using telekinesis, we throw stones at the flower of the central tentacle, and jerk away from the attacks of the side tentacles.
At the end, when the two additional tentacles die, the battlefield will fill with poisonous gas. Just fly onto the stone ledge and finish off the central tentacle with telekinesis. Throw it as fast as you can.

Use the tactic of levitation + launching (telekinesis) pink wineskin eggs (located on the ceiling) into the mold flowers. No weapon required.

During my playthrough, I missed the location where the quest for this boss is taken. It's called "Old Growth". It seemed like it could be taken from Pope, but in the end I didn’t do that either, but went straight to Dr. Underhill’s laboratory. You can get there from the "Research Sector". There will be a teleport there. Immediately leaving it, you need to jump to the very bottom and focus on the yellow, burnt grass + a hole in the wall. We go there, levitate down the elevator shaft and then find the doctor in the laboratory, take on the quest. Using it, you need to collect samples of mold, which are collected almost in the same location, after which you will get the antidote and after that you go into the pit to deal with the boss Mold-1.

The battle is generally simple. We hit the central tentacle with telekinesis, and move away from the attacks of the side tentacles with a double O to the side. Remember:
1) in the transition phase, the central tentacle hits the ceiling and bombs fall from it;
2) health is lost when you shoot at the green crap on the tentacles, which after being hit gets stuck in the ground for a while
3) at the end, when 2 additional tentacles die, something like a berserk phase begins, when the lower part of the battlefield is filled with poisonous gas. Just fly onto the stone ledge and finish off the central tentacle

There are bombs hanging from the ceiling, which at a certain moment begin to fall. You can remove them from the ceiling yourself using telekinesis and throw them at the central flower. This is how the boss takes the most damage.

In general, the quest is taken after talking with Emily Pope in the central control, but you can also just go straight to the research center and in the main hall go down to the very bottom and find an area where everything will be covered with green-yellow luminous grass. In this area there will be an elevator shaft where you need to jump, but be sure to use levitation or dodging before landing. Then you find the scientist Underhill, talk to her and a quest opens up for you, the plot of which will take you deeper into the “Pit” and meet this boss “Mold-1”.

Level 4 clearance required. Otherwise, you simply won’t get to the quest giver; there is an electronic lock on the door to his room.
