How to unlock the Master Parautilitarian achievement in Control - Definitive Guide

It took me forever to find out how to get the last few ability points after I completed all the missions but after some digging I figured it out.
Theres two ways to get ability points. The first is from completing main missions and side missions. Keep in mind that Bureau Alerts don't give ability points. so make sure you've completed all of these.
The next way is by discovering hidden areas. Finding them awards 1 point each. After you've finished all missions you should have less than ten ability points remaining in order to complete the skill tree. This link gives a great guide on where to find these hidden areas

I have about 15 points I need (and found some hidden areas) at the end of the game. Every list I’ve looked at shows I’ve done all main and side missions so I’m a bit confused.

After finishing all side missions and finding about 15 hidden areas I had enough points to get this. there were still four or five hidden locations left

One thing to look in to is solving the Roulette Puzzle in Luck and Probability. It's reward is 2 ability points.

Can confirm that the ability points unlocked from the DLC missions also count towards this, eliminating the need to find all the hidden locations in the main game for 100%

that first collectible was easier to grab by closing the game, reloading and hopping on the heads of floating bodies. Took a bunch of videos to find one that works. Thanks man, I didn't like the game but I appreciate the help

Havent launched the game since its release I was just passed chapter 4 and today both spend 50 and 100 abilities popped without doing anything. At first I thought it was some type of DLC achievements but no, hopefully it is popping for everyone else.

Not for me.
I’ve just finished the main game, and about to hit 50 spent.
9 more side missions to do, so that may be 30ish.
But I’ve not gained any at any point from secret areas that I know of. Will have to have a look at that.

So I got all the points from the main game, did 15 side missions for the achiement, and finished up the runaway ie mission because I only had 3 left. I decided to do the hidden locations, I skipped the central lobby one but got the rest. Luck and probably puzzle gave me 2 points.

I'd like to point out that the Jukebox missions do not give out ability points, even those they are considered "side missions". So don't waste your time if you are out of missions and trying to do every last side mission.

Ill add that this is easier if you get the DLC as the DLC missions add ability points towards the 100 you need.

I've finished all missions, side missions and explored all hidden areas (except the pillar in Executive), still no achievement. :( Am I missing something?

"Keep in mind that Bureau Alerts don't give ability points. so make sure you've completed all of these." - something is wrong with this sentence, do you have to complete Bureau Alerts or not?

I've been to all 18 hidden areas and completed all side missions and main missions yet I only have 98 ability points, it's there an optional side mission im missing or something else? And yes I've done the luck and probability room too, are there any more puzzle rooms like this?

Leaving some notes:

Follow a video that shows 20 hidden locations. There are 20, not 18.

With the update you will not unlock every skill. If you really wanna know how many points you have then spend the 30k to respec, however respecing is not going to help you actually get the achievement

After doing all the What A Mess missions, go back to the Janitors Closet to receive: What A Mess: Take A Break - very easy and awards 4 ability points

To get the ability point in central executive, wedge a vending machine in the side and use that as a platform it's easier than it sounds

Just FYI, pretty certain there are hidden areas that aren't listed on that page. I remember finding a few that aren't listed there. That said, there will be more than enough hidden areas to get the points you need. I've got a few more than I needed for everything already and I'm going through the secret areas looking for more notes and stuff just for fun/lore before I'm off to my next game.

I finished this yesterday.

I did all the hidden areas bar 2 (exec level and one near janitors tunnels). I got 2 from solving the luck and probability puzzle (but nothing for just entering that area)

Also I'm not sure that your math is right. I have done all main story missions, all side missions, and the luck and probability puzzle and I still need 12 more points. Seems like you have to find secret areas to unlock this. Unless I'm missing something.

Not really a guide just some helpful info, if you complete all story and side missions and do the luck puzzle in the research area you do not need to find all hidden areas to get 100 ability points, you can miss 2 out meaning that one in the executive area can be left out as it is really hard to get too

Not really a guide but a tip about the roulette puzzle in the luck&probability room, solving this puzzle will gain you 2 ability points. Several guides online mention that you need to activate the Newton balls, but for me at least it only worked when the Newton balls were not activated.
If you did everything right but the roulette wheel doesn't stop on 7, make sure both sets of the Newton balls are not moving

You must beat the game and finish almost all of the side quests to accomplish this. (Must find Secret areas as well unless have DLC)

*If you have ether DLC or both then the quests in these areas will also unlock Ability Points so you don't need to worry about the secret areas.

To complete the full tree, one must do basically everything in the game and two DLCs. I think there is only 4 ability points left that cannot be spent in the very end.

I don't have any of the DLCs, and can confirm you have to finish all main and side missions, and will need 18 out of the 20 hidden locations, or 19 out 20 if you choose to leave out the luck puzzle.

Trophy pops when you spend, not when you earn the point. So it is possible that when you get the 100th point, and have just that single one unspent, and there's no ability available that costs just one, you'll need to hunt down extra points or re-spec (that's what I did).

Here's a good guide for locations (that shows the path from a fast travel point, instead of just showing the hidden area):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB81bB8fImc

And a list of the 18 side missions:

Note: The description for this trophy is very misleading because you actually only need to spend 100 Ability points, not unlock all of the Ability Upgrades. Credit to our gert for this info. Also, see his note here: LINK

Unfortunately, doing all main and side missions won't be enough. You'll have to hunt down the remaining ability points to reach 100%. The rest of the ability points are in hidden areas and they are granted to you, by just discovering the area so no need to collect anything. Some locations require you to have finished Dr. Underhill's side mission "Old Growth" as it provides you with a pill that makes you immune to the toxicity of the Mold-infested areas. It is highly recommended that you seek out these locations at the Endgame. Here are their hidden locations. Credit to  LadVlad for the video:

Ability points are awarded for completing story and side missions. Ability points are not awarded for Council Countermeasures and Bureau Notices. You can upgrade your abilities at the control point.
All the story and side quests are not enough to level up all the abilities, but there are hidden places on the levels for visiting which give 1 ability point, most of them can only be discovered after obtaining the levitation skill.

In the skills menu, you can reset all skills by holding square. Ability points aren't going anywhere. Thanks to this, you can see how many points you have in total and how many remain until 100. I also advise you to solve the puzzle with a playing table, it is solved quite simply and you get several points for solving it)

I completed the game completely, only 5 perks remained to be unlocked until 100%, I started reloading chapters and spending ability points, after the fifth or sixth load a trophy dropped, although in the research tree even half of the skills were not learned, most likely, as was said above, the game counts the amount of points spent regardless of conditions, game version 1.07

If you plan to play DLC, you can skip secret places and additional missions without achievements. The main tasks of the game and DLC should be enough for 100 points, perhaps there will not be enough units. If you want to go faster, run only through the story and additional missions with achievements, the rest if you achieve anything at the end

03/21/2021, digital, version 1.12

I went through all the extras. mission, solved and found all the riddles and secret places. There are exactly 100 points in the game, but they need to be spent, not accumulated. It turned out that I had exactly one point left, 99 was spent, and skills could no longer be bought for one point, so I had to redistribute the skills and the trophy dropped.

Previously, points in the game may have been enough to level up almost all skills, and not just 100, but it seems that the developers have fixed the number of dropped skill points in the latest patches, due to additions. Monitored the passage of additional tasks on a third-party site and the rewards for them were listed there. So somewhere they should have given 4 points for completing it, but the game gave me only 3. While passing the Finnish tango mission, I completed the task “even more mold” and they didn’t give me skill points at all, although the guide states that 3 pcs. should have given. There was another mission where they didn’t give me points either. So along the way there were more points in the first versions.

In general, the game requires 148 points to fully level up, taking into account the new abilities added in the DLC. If you go through all the extras and find hidden places in all two DLCs, you will score exactly 148. A lot of points in the Foundation add-on.

Found all the hidden rooms, but it turned out that I missed two small side missions. One was mentioned above, with a gaming table in the Research department. Another is "Relax", a mission that begins after completing all the cleaner's missions, if you visit his room again.

You can get the trophy before the final if you complete almost all the additional quests and find 20 secret places. In the dlc, you get 1 point for finding secret places. There are 5 in AWE, 10 in Foundation, and the first AWE mission becomes available after the 7th main mission.

100 ability points is 98 points for ALL game missions (10 main and 18 side missions) and all secret locations plus 2 points for roulette. Don't forget about roulette.

This trophy can be obtained without purchasing add-ons.
Stuck at the moment where after the game, all the extras. quests, riddles and secret places (as I thought) - one ability point was missing. Everything was decided by watching other video guides to hidden places.

There is another way! After completing the game, load any chapter in the main menu and continue the passage by pumping up skills, skill points are cumulative along the way! I still didn’t open everything, but they gave me the trophy.

You can upgrade ONLY one branch (for example, HP). At the same time, it is necessary that the remaining abilities are not pumped up at all, otherwise the achievement will not drop.

By the way, MishaRa21's hint does not work on version 1.03. Progress is COMPLETELY reset to the mission you chose. Be careful.

A strange thing, in short... I went through all the additional quests and visited everything except 1 or 2 hidden places, but there weren’t enough skill points Oo (2 or 3 perks remained unexplored) I started the game by selecting the chapter: Director’s right to manual control (I immediately added 5 there points in HP, without pumping anything else, and went to Akhti, on the way completing the task “Merry Pursuit” and discovering a hidden place, poured them into HP again and the trophy fell out (while the HP branch remained unexplored to the end) Apparently the amount of points spent The game tests your skills.

In the end, as it turned out. you need to complete all the main missions + side quests + find all the secret places. Then you will collect exactly 100 points that are needed. Guides and videos on secret places can be taken from previous tips. The most problematic was the first secret place - in the Executive Department, where you need to fly onto a rectangular column. The easiest way is that there are people hanging in the air around the column. You can land on them and quickly take off a second time. The larger the area, the better (the person bent backwards or, on the contrary, bent forward)

I updated the game to version 1.12, in the end I was 2 points short of 100, although I completed all the side effects and climbed all 20 places. I had to remove it and install it again. Started a new game. I completed the mission with the refrigerator and the trophy dropped, and along the way I upgraded my skills. The trophy is cumulative, but does not work on version 1.12. Plus there's a bug with Remus and notifications don't appear. Well, I found some secrets somewhere around 4 or 5.

I advise you to get this trophy after completing mission 8 "Finnish Tango"

You won’t unlock all the skills, you need about 132 points, this amount is not in the game.

As soon as you have completed mission 8, I advise you to go through all the secret rooms, for visiting them you are given one skill point, here are video or text guides (the text guide contains a solution to the puzzle with a roulette and a TV).

Complete all additional quests (quests to learn abilities are considered additional).

And your last action will be passing the game, at the end you will be given the opportunity to upgrade your skills.

Unlike WhitePanda000000, in order to get 1 secret, I was not able to jump away from frozen Isses, perhaps this has already been patched. I stacked 2 refrigerators and 2 snack machines on top of each other. But you can’t stack 4 devices vertically on top of each other; at least my fourth one constantly began to fall through the ones underneath it. I had to put 1 device horizontally, and then placed the remaining three on top of each other. And just enough height.

To get the trophy in the Ultimate Edition, you just need to complete the main story, additional missions and part of the DLC. Don't forget about the "Relax" quest after completing the janitor's tasks and solving the puzzle in the department.
For this:
1. Place the Bronze Fish no more than 2 feet from the roulette wheel (you can place it directly on the gaming table).
2. Activate the cat's paw.
3. Turn on the lights in the playroom.
4. Take a clover and place it in a vase near the TV in the play area.
5. You don’t need to touch the horseshoe and the elephant.
6. After activating the ball, leave the red zone.

Ability points are awarded for completing story and side missions, as well as for hidden rooms in locations. Council countermeasures and Bureau notifications do not award ability points.
All the story and side quests will not be enough to level up all your abilities, but with the release of add-ons there will be enough for everything
