How to unlock the One of Us achievement in Control - Definitive Guide

There are 8 cats in total. For most of them, you will need to solve a puzzle before the cat appears, then you can collect it. The achievement will unlock after you find all 8 cats, visit the shrine, and put on the cat ears. For me, it popped about 5 minutes later I left the shrine.

Written guide: https://stevivor.com/guides/control-foundation-cat-puzzle-gu...

Tips for the hardest cat is the one in the Warehouse elevator, Cat 6.

- You must use melee. Using your gun won't work.
- You need to clear all 4 in one journey, they will reset once you reach the top or bottom
- You can press the elevator button or use photo mode to pause while you're traveling

From TobyLinn:
You don't have to destroy the hiss points in the elevator. I thought I had to destroy them and wasted so much time on this. I just made sure I paused and melee'd all 4 between floors five and six and when I got to the top the cat was waiting. It needs to make that "splortch" sound.

Also worth adding to your guide, the achievement doesn't unlock upon picking up the 8th cat - you have to go to the weird cat shrine thing at the end of the video. It unlocked for me as soon as I picked up the cat ears.

Cat 3, you need to form a specific triangle shape with the placement of the boxes, 5 along the side towards the chasm, then 0 1 0 1 0 on the next row of the grid, then one in the very center of the 3rd row of the grid, while the video uses this setup, he doesn't actually mention that it's important (and it is, I wasted a lot of time, thinking my boxes weren't lined up correctly or centered when the real problem was that the game was looking for the triangle formation)

For the third cat, he does tell you how to arrange the blocks. But he does it quick and I didn't catch it a couple times.

Basically, look on the grid for paw prints. Place a box in every square with paw prints.

Not sure that anyone else had this issue, but for the ones in the elevator you have to melee them. Using the Charge gun won't count.

No matter what I have tried, I cannot break through the second wall in the collapsed department behind the painting to get the green (5th) cat. Is there a special trick to it?

@Tala - There's no special trick, you just have to keep beating at the wall and throwing stuff at it. The physics can be a little janky so you just have to try your best to squeeze through the hole.

Thanks to Anno Mundi - that trick in the elevator was extremely helpful!

Thanks @senote for the better directions.

For the elevator, you can hit the button mid-transit and it will stop. Go punch, start it again, then stop it when you need to. Makes the elevator part much, much easier.

Any tips for cat 6? The game has the worst pause menu ever because of the delay and I need photo mode. Ugh...

Edit: It took me several tries without using photo mode (pausing in this game is crap), but on my last attempt, I went down a few floors until it became light (the lengthy elevator ride kept making me melee too soon), I went back up and managed to melee all four in quick succession.

Edit 2: I got the achievement. The 6th one was easily the hardest due to timing.

#6 is the hardest. It would be better if the elevator had a light in it so I could see which was is which. It doesn't matter if some floors have lights. It's to dark in there and elevator goes to quick...

Edit:FINALLY GOT IT.

Something totally weird happened to me. I was trying going up and down the elevator between 0 and 6. But, the ride was unnecessary long. So I decided to pause the elevator and get the clusters. I could always hit the 2nd,3rd and 4th but the 1st never disappeared. Then I tried to just hit anything without pausing while moving between floors 5 and 6. I absolutely sure I failed, but the cat was waiting for me on the top floor. Don't know what happened and don't really care. Just don't give up even if you think you failed!

Just got mine after a couple of tries. All I can say to help is put the brightness to 100 from the options (it helps to see the red area coming) and it works also going from 5th to 6th floor (speeds up the going up and down).
It also helps listening to the sound. When a Hiss node is destroyed it makes a "splashy" sound, so you know you got it.

The secret is to press the X to stop the elevator in the right position. If you press X once, it will ask for the floor you want to go to, when choosing the floor, the elevator moves. Just press X that it stops, even being between two levels. Then you just have to try it until you find the right position to destroy the hiss points.

InfinitMatrix's tip works like a charm. As soon as the area turns red, just stop the lift by holding x, and pressing b on the lift menu.

Guys how is TobyLinn's comment not upvoted like 3000 times? That would have saved me so much time the first time i did this achievement.... Brilliant.

On the elevator you can go up and down. Adjust the floor if you need to. Doing this I got it in one shot.

I would like to also add that you can repeatedly press x to stop/start the elevator, allowing you to take your time to damage each Hiss point

That written guide is really not great. At least 3 of the 8 either leave out key details or ask you to do things in an inefficient way.

Would like to add that for elevator cat you must start from lv 01 to lv 06. If you miss a hiss block you can use the elevator to go down to floor 5 before you arrive at the top.

So I struggled with Cat 6 (the one for destroying the hiss in the elevator) - After looking at the YouTube comments it appears you can hit the elevator button while the elevator is moving and it stops the elevator (if you back out of the elevator menu) meaning you can stop the elevator, destroy the hiss, restart the elevator, destroy the hiss etc.

Got this first time once I figured that out - I found it too hard otherwise!

That video says that for Cat 4 start at Collapsed Department etc, this seems to be wrong, start at Transit Access and head back towards Canyon Rim, the way he's suggesting puts you on totally the wrong ledge.

For Cat 6 he says start punching on the side of the door, this depends what floor you start from, I was going from 5 to 6. Go to 6, the side where the door opens to the exit here is the side you need to start from when you do it.

Cat 8 start at the Cave System checkpoint not Cave Bridge. Face the bridge on the left pull out a ledge, jump on that and then onto the bridge, this puts you by the sign that says Chasm.

Overall I'd say this has taken me 60-90 minutes longer because some of the directions in the video are terrible.

Just got this done! The elevator cat took a few tries, but the 4 Hiss points appear clockwise, starting from the door on the ground floor. No need to stop the elevator or use photo mode (unpausing the game gives horrible lag on the XB1), just stand close to the elevator wall and press Y when you see the cluster, then quickly move right to the next wall and repeat.

The video does have a few bad starting CPs, senote had good tips - wish I'd read them earlier!

The achievement unlocked when I walked into the shrine room after collecting all 8 cats.

As Senote says, for Cat 04 - you need to start at the Transit Access CP, not the Collapsed Department as it's too low down..

For Cat 06 in the elevator - The best solution is to pause the elevator (the prompt doesn't disappear). You can then melee the nodes and then resume the elevator... I found that I had to start from Floor 1 for the cat to spawn as it didn't spawn from starting at Floor 5.

For Cat 08, You need to start from Cave System - not Cave Bridge - and have Shape unlocked to be able to reach the Chasm bridge.

This was the guide that helped me the most: P.S. The black cat (#3), it is necessary to position the stones forming a pyramid (5 at the base, 2 in the middle and 1 at the top), as in the video.

Great video, very thorough! Just want to add two quick addenda, if I may: when gathering the 8 cubes, if you get a miniboss spawn in the middle of the field area and accidentally throw one cube into the abyss (like I did!), check each location again - they respawn in their original location. Second, on the elevator, you can pause the elevator between floors by pressing the floor selection button when moving, and then pressing Exit. You can use this to repeatedly bounce back between 5 and 6, stopping at the exact spot where the node spawns to melee at your leisure. As long as you don't go all the way to 5 or 6 (stay between floors), they count as one clear. Thank you.

Tip: You can pause the elevator by activating the control button when trying to get cat#6. This allows you to move the elevator up and down and get each hiss node. Once you have all four, proceed to the top.

There are a total of 8 Maneki-nekos (cat figurines) to find in "The Foundation" DLC. They consist of tasks such as flipping switches, locating hidden areas and so forth. Follow the video on how to get these felines to get those cutie cat ears. I recommend hunting for them after you've received both Foundation skills (Fracture and Shape). For #3 (1:58 in video), you can stop the elevator on the Hiss node to make it easier to melee (credit to Redemption Gaming):

The trophy does not drop after collection, but after entering the secret room on the platform between the transit and the destruction department, there you need to take a wardrobe item) the video in the first hint at the end shows it, I didn’t watch it and replayed the dlc)) then only the final one)

It's best to hit with your hand in an elevator first to the left of the elevator button and clockwise

To the elevator between the 5th and 6th floors: unlike the rest of the game, the red cubes here do not disappear when hit. Hit confirmation is a barely noticeable white effect. When repeated strikes, nothing happens, which means it’s already counted.

One of the figurines is in extra. task with TV . I advise you to pick it up during this task . I followed her after completing the quest and experienced a number of problems. Endless respawning of enemies and complete darkness (increasing the brightness on TV and in the game does not help) and, as a result, it is very difficult to navigate.

There is a bug where you need to place cubes in order for a cat to appear.
I suffered for an hour or maybe more, trying to place the cubes this way and that, but the cat did not appear.
The hint where it says that you should only place on tracks added even more time.
As a result, I re-logged in and on the first try the cat appeared.

In order to get the figurine in the warehouse, you need to hit 4 red glowing pieces when moving between the 5th and 6th floors. They appear clockwise starting from the wall to the left of the elevator button. In order not to waste time traveling from the first floor, just ride from 5 to 6; if it doesn’t work out the first time, go down to 5 and try again. To greatly simplify the task, as soon as you see the red light, press the floor selection button and the elevator will stop. We pressed exit without selecting a floor, hit the red thing, pressed the elevator button again and selected the 6th floor - the elevator will move on. We saw a red light - pressed the elevator button again and exited without selecting a floor - and so on)

In order for a figurine with a riddle with cubes to appear, you need to place these same cubes in those sectors where you can see the cat’s paw prints in the sand. When I looked at the guides for this trophy, I got the impression that they simply throw these cubes there and the cat appears simply when all eight are within the sector, but for me the cat appeared exactly when I placed them correctly.
