How to unlock the Star Performance achievement in Control - Definitive Guide

This is a fun part of the game. You will receive this side mission while playing through the main story of the DLC, towards the end.

(Go to TRANSIT ACCESS, follow the signposts to EVALUATION HALL, go straight ahead, levitate up and dash through the glass window, do not go through the large doors in front of you, instead go down the stairs - signpost says TRANSIT ACCESS, go all the was down, take the elevator at the end of the corridor and you're there... interact with the movie camera and you're on your way!)

While riding on top a 'train', or platform on train tracks actually, you need to cleanse a possessed movie camera. The first part is easy, just survive on the platform, kill enemies by launching stuff at them, avoid obstacles.

The challenge comes soon enough - Third Act Villain boss fight. The boss is a flying enemy that will avoid most of the launched projectiles while shooting rockets at you. It took me a few tries until I figured out how to kill him.

His attacks are quite simple actually. You can keep launching stuff at him, missing mostly, but hitting him every once in a while. Just remember to have enough energy for when he starts throwing those rockets. When you see he's about to attack, raise your shield and wait for TWO rockets to hit your shield with a flash. When they do, you're safe to start launching stuff at him again.

You don't need much else, just patience... Don't be greedy, don't let him get you without your shield ready.

I suggest you MAX OUT your health, launch and shield (you can respec your skills for 30K source, if you need to.) Also personal mods - go for VI tier mods, esp. health, launch efficiency and my third personal mod was replenishing health on launch hits. It was very useful here.

I never used my weapon once.

The worst thing about this is that if you die during the boss fight, you have to do it all over again, which gets boring fast. Just sprinting to TRANSIT ACCESS and getting through the first half of the train ride takes a minute or so. Plus the terrible loading time....

I would recommend the charge gun. I think he only actually shot at me twice. The combination of constant launches and using charge shot while your energy recharges means he can't really do anything at all. Shoot the walls and roof close to him to keep damaging him.

Anyone having an issue with Third Act Villain disappearing right after you kill the two spawned enemies on the other cart?
I’ve had to kill myself 5 times and restart just to have the same thing happen over again. Currently letting the game run (just passed the ten minute mark of riding the carts with no change) to see if he will ever show up again.

I get that people want a challenge when doing most missions or play throughs but you can always tune on assist mode and one shot kills and immortality giving you a less stressful fight and a one and done type of deal so I don’t really get it why you guys complain about how hard the boss fights are you’ll still get the achievements regardless if you have assists enable

To recap. Health recovery on launch hit mod helps. Keep your shield up during the attacks. Then counter with launch. I didn't have any luck with Charge, and instead used SHATTER just to keep the energy shield from recharging and slowly whittled down health while energy recharged between Launches.

Getting to this side mission is not hard, it's located shortly after you move the posessed camera out of the way to open a security door, in the collapsed department area (I'll put a video at the end of my solution with the location).

When the mission starts (You will notice because of the scenario and soundtrack), you will face several enemies. Shooting with the standart service weapon or use throw ability for the flying ones, throw for the enemies shooting at you and shield for the heavy enemy until one barrier ahead of you take him down. Meanwhile you will have to jump and hover between two platforms (I don't want to give too many details and spoilers, as this mission is probably the best and the worst of the DLC, and this is because of the final boss)

Ok, so the last boss of this mission is the hardest one in the entire DLC, near Tomassini boss in the base game level of bad. He deals a TON of damage in each attack and doesn't stay still at all. Here is one easy way to take it down:

First of All, the Shield ability has to be upgrade at full, all of the skill tree. (Recommended to have Jesse fully upgrade)

Second, Pierce mod on your service weapon with as many DMG mods in it as possible.

For Jesse mods, I had max health and energy costs. You can have this one pretty much at your personal choice, but there is one mod which gives you healt in exchange for throw hits that can help you to arrive at the boss fight with more health.

The key word in this showdown is DON'T BE GREEDY and don't try to land too many shots, as one single hit can pretty much put you at the starting point again. If he kills you, you will have to undo the path from the last control point and do all the side mission AGAIN. When you see the health barrier of the boss, locate him and use your shield. WAIT until he makes his two attacks (You will notice he has no more stones to throw at you). Then, use your pierce mod of the service weapon and shoot him twice. Rinse and repeat. Again, don't be greedy and have patience. With this method he will not last long (I killed him in less than two minutes this way). I don't recommend to use throw with him (He will dodge nearly 95% of this attacks and it wastes energy for the shield)

To finish this, here is a video of how to get to the side mission. I don't take credit for the video:

Since the AWE DLC and update, this boss fight has been severely nerfed: I wasn't able to complete it when it first released, but now it's really easy; some enemies have been removed and the boss is way less reactive. I don't know if the update affects any other bossfight but this one is sure way easier now

As you progress through the story, you'll release an Object of Power, a movie camera, from the Evaluation Hall in the Collapsed Department. Take the elevator located in Transit Access, as you'll see the camera on a transport cart. After a failed attempt to cleanse the camera, you'll have to fend off some elevated Hiss and a level 10 Hiss Trooper. Just shield yourself until he gets knocked off by one of the deviders. The Third Act Villian is very similar to Tommasi. Use Launch attacks to knock his shield down then unload on him with Grip. There are times where he lands on your transport - melee him as it uses no energy, and try to throw in a couple of Shatter blasts as well. The perfect opportunity to Launch attack will be when he has debris he's about to toss at you; launch at his debris then launch attack him. The key personal mod to have is a Launch Health Recovery, even if it's low grade.

We teleport to the Transit Corridor and run to the western part of the map. We pass through the opening airlocks, take off over the overhead passage and find ourselves in the room outside the windows. On the right there is a descent down, which leads to the elevator. We take the elevator to a place with a platform on rails. There is a camera on the platform - we interact with it, after which the task begins, where you need to jump between moving platforms to avoid collisions with obstacles, and also shoot enemies. As a result, we catch the camera and complete the task.
