Once you have progressed enough through the main "Story Mode" to get past the tutorial portion, you will start serving customers on day 1. From here, click the cardboard box, buy any utensil from the appropriate tab and you should unlock the achievement

hmm, I bought a 150ml ladel in my career and didn't pop :
oh.... probably cos I bought it during the tutorial phase when it didn't want me to? it also made it so the 300ml I ladelled into the bowl didn't count as they stupidly want you to pour the soup into the bowl :D
