The max level for any pet is 10. Just keep battling and feeding them candies. In no time it will be maxed out.

I wouldn't say "in no time". Been playing the game for almost 20 hours and got my pet to level 9 in that time. It takes just as much XP to get the pet from level 9 to 10 as from level 1 to 9.
Candies are only good for leveling up early. They are basically useless when your pet needs several 10,000 XP to level up unless you farm the rarest type of candies of which I have exactly zero as the drop rate is naturally pretty low and they drop almost exclusively from bosses.

I probably could have worded it better. Basically, if you are doing all the other things, it will max out without you focusing on it.

The max level for a pet is 10. They gain xp from being around combat whether they attack or not. Using Materializers, we can place them with a power source on an island and spawn in enemies. To spawn in an enemy, we need to place its figurine in the materializer, which we get as a rare drop from defeating that enemy type. Ideally, we will use Shrooman Brutes, which you can also aggro and lead to your setup if you don’t have the figurines or didn’t bother grabbing the materializers. We can make this setup as large as we want, but for demonstration, mine is just four tiles as shown in the video. Then attack the enemies from across the gap to level up your other combat skills and passively gain levels for your pet too!
