This is cumulative across all runs. By the time I was focusing on this trophy I had basically everything else done save for collectibles and 10,000 objects used, so I ended up simply unloading any weapons I picked up right away.

If you're still doing missions and progressing through other trophies, you may want to preserve your bullets, otherwise just let them loose as you pick them up and more guns should come quickly enough.
