How to unlock the Beating Crow achievement in Costume Quest 2 - Definitive Guide

This achievement is unobtainable until you hit level 9. Every few levels you will receive a mission stating that Corvus has a new lesson for you. In these lessons he will teach you how to double attack, counter attack, block, etc. Corvus is part of the main story and he is unmissable. Returning to him later for future lessons is technically missable but the skills he teaches you are extremely helpful and necessary for later fights in the game. Make sure to return to him every time you are prompted to do so.

Once you reach level 9, you will receive your final mission from Corvus. This time there is no lesson. He tells you that you know everything and instead of teaching you a new skill, he gives you a "mod" to enhance your special meter making it fill faster. Once you have this mod the achievement unlocks.

In the Dental Compound you can backtrack to Dystopia through the Security Building sub-area.

Be sure that if you didn't get a notification for this achievement to check if it unlocked in your achievement list, it didn't pop for me, but the achievement did unlock.

For anyone having trouble getting back to Corvus, simply go back through the sewers and take the far right exit up the stairs to Old Auburn Pines. Lucy & Everett's house is just to your northwest from the manhole you emerge from.

I've completed the game, but i still need to learn the last spell for this achievement. The problem is, i have no idea how to get back to Old Auburn Pines from Dr. White's Inner Sanctum. Any of you know what i could do?

Technically missable if you aren't going for this achievement or the one for finishing every quest, but a certain boss in the game is significantly easier if you learn the Counter move. Without counters, and I suppose the secondary attacks, this game is way more time consuming.

I recommend doing these as soon as they become available, though you can do them at any time throughout the game. They are very brief and easy so getting them out of the way as they become available is no hassle at all, plus you benefit from the technique you are taught. You will first meet Corvus at the start of the game in the future at Everett & Lucy's house where you get your first 2 costumes. He will provide you with a combat tutorial. From this point throughout the rest of the game, as you reach certain levels you will unlock a new quest stating that Corvus has something new to teach you and to go talk to him. You will need to go to Everett's house in the future to talk to Corvus and pass his test. If you pass then you will learn a new combat technique, with the exception of the final quest where he gives you an upgrade to your special meter. You must complete all 3 quests to unlock the trophy. All 3 should be unlocked by the time you get to level 9.

In Backwater Bayou for first part of game you can reach Everett's House by entering the portal you started at. In Dystopia you can find Everett's House in the Old Auburn Pines sub-area. In the Dental Compound you can backtrack to Dystopia through the Security Building sub-area. You will unlock them in the following order.

  • Corvus' Combos (quest starts at level 3)
  • Corvus' Counters (quest starts at level 6)
  • Corvus' Conclusion (quest starts at level 9)

As you level up, you'll occasionally get a quest saying you should go visit Corvus to learn new combat techniques. Usually you'll want to go as soon as you can because they'll help you greatly in battles. Corvus can be found at almost any time at Evertt's House in Old Auburn Pines. Get there through the sewers at the bottom left of Monty and his crocodile.

The trophy is almost story-driven. Corvus improves your combat skills, making the game easier for you. In essence, these trainings are quests. They appear automatically when you reach character level 3, 6, and 9.

Get it automatically if you knock out QuestLove.
