How to unlock the C1 | An Ancient Antiquity achievement in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy - Definitive Guide
For this achievement you need to get the gold or platinum relic in the bonus level “Stormy Ascent” which is located at the top of Cortex’s Castle on the third island, although you can play it straight away. The level is easily the hardest in the game, and for the gold relic a time of 4:30 is required. A text guide will be near impossible to follow, so here is a great video of a platinum run by GarlandTheGreat.
Some general tips:
Be patient. The level is extremely hard and will require potentially hours of memorising the timing of every obstacle. If you cannot make a jump and hesitate, wait for a second, you have time to make a few mistakes and still pick up the relic.
For the part at 1:19 in the video where a set of platforms rotate in a circle, wait on the moving platform until the platform moving downwards is at a comfortable height to jump to (takes around 4 rotations of the platforms) and then jump to the one going upwards.
For the part where you have to go downwards down the stairs that retract (around 1:50 in the video), at the bottom run to the bottom stair to make the jump over the last spiky obstacle. If you have the mask still it might be worth just using that there.
Once you get to the top, there are a bunch of tricky obstacles. The set of platforms where two come out at the same time (3:02 in the video), you have to jump onto the first one, then jump just as they retract and you should barely make it to the second one.
The birds at the end will likely kill you multiple times (I was killed twice by them). Wait for the first one to be furthest away from you and that should provide the bounce to hit the other two and get to the end.
This achievement will be a challenge, so good luck and try to stay calm!

This is the last thing I need in this game (gold+ relic) and I can get all the achievements but god damn it's ridiculously hard, I keep dying at the spot that is 1:19 in the video, same spot every time, it seems near impossible.

The key to that part is to wait for the platforms to line up so that the platform is at a comfortable height to jump to. In the video he does it quick so he doesn’t have to wait, but just wait on the moving platform until the platform gets to a comfortable height.

Finish The Stormy Ascent Time Trial And Claim It's Ankh.
Requires You To Complete The Stormy Ascent Level, After You Start The Time Trial, And Beat "Par" Time.
- Begin The Time Trial By Grabbing The Floating Stopwatch Near The Start
I Highly Advise Waiting To Do This Until You Have Done Both Of These:
- Gotten The Gem For Getting All Boxes In The Same Level
- Finished The 26 Other Time Trials
Prioritize Beating The Level Without Dying Rather Than Doing The Level Fast.
It's Not Easy.
Good Luck! You're Going To Need It.

This achievement requires you to obtain at least a gold relic on the DLC level Stormy Ascent. This is the hardest achievement in the game, possibly the entire trilogy, because this level is so long, with so much room for error and so many things that can go wrong. There's no avoiding it - you're going to spending a significant amount of time practicing this level, over and over, with many deaths, until you finally succeed. I definitely do recommend watching the video below though, as you can see some ways to get through obstacles quicker or easier. Like with the main game levels, often, going faster means obstacles will be synced up to allow you to pass right through without stopping. Not only that, but doing so allows you to be more consistent with your attempts, since things will always be in the same position when you get to them.
Some things to point out relative to the video below and your attempts in general:
Some things to point out relative to the video below and your attempts in general:
- The good news about this run is that you actually have plenty of time to get gold, meaning that once you do finally succeed, you'll almost assuredly get gold as long as you kept moving
- Like in the video, walk a second or two before going up to start the trial. This allows the retracting steps to be in sync with you as you ascend this first part
- It may seem like getting the '2' box at 00:42 is a waste of time, but it isn't. If you skipped the box and rode the platform straight up, you'd have to wait for the next platform anyway. So, better to get the box while you have to wait anyway
- At 1:06, it's way safer to jump onto the top of the two steps rather than the lower one. That'll make it much easier and safer to reach the next platforms
- At 1:19, it's very likely the rotating platforms to the right won't be synced up for you to jump right to them like in the video. In fact, they never were for me in all of my attempts. If that's the case for you too, wait on the sliding platform for four cycles, then proceed. While this may eat up a bunch of time, I still finished with gold with ease
- For all of the vultures that move up and down, it's literally not possible for them to be too high for you to jump on them, so never ever wait for vultures. You can always reach them to bounce on them no matter what
- Most of the rest is really straightforward. Not easy, but keep moving and you shouldn't have issues. You have plenty of time to spare, so don't feel like you need to push through every moving platform. Don't worry about stopping for a cycle to make sure you don't screw up at the end
- For the final three moving vultures, you absolutely need to bounce on that first vulture when it's all the way to the left as much as possible. You may overshoot the second or third one, but it's much easier to pull back a bit. If you come up short you're dead
