To earn a relic, you must enter "time trial mode" for each level. Time trial mode will unlock for each level after you complete it. Go back and enter the level again, collect the stopwatch and time trial mode will start. Before you enter the level (while on the island level select screen), I would recommend pressing to view the leaderboard for the level and see the target times for each tier of relic.

Each level has 3 tiers of relics, Sapphire, Gold, and Platinum, with the difficulty increasing in that order. For this achievement, you simply need 5 of any color relic. However, I would recommend practicing the level and aiming for at least a gold level relic as this will get you progress on two additional achievements in the game.
