How to unlock the C2 | 99 Percent Perspiration achievement in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be earned super easy on the 4th level of the station in a level called Bee-Having. Run through the level normally while until you see your first electric fence with a bee hive just before it. Run between the fence and hive then Slide Dash + Spin into the beehive everytime a bee spawns out of it. Each time you do this you'll be rewarded with a life. Repeat this process until you have 99 and feel free to come back here if you get low.

Fun Fact: This was an unintended bug in the original version of Crash Bandicoot 2 which has been left in by the developers. Nostalgia man.

Here is a video guide of myself doing it.

Thanks for the solution! I found it easier for me to go left of the beehive where the mushroom is so the bees won't get too spread out.

You can actually do this at any beehive in the level. I did it at the first hive you come across.

How this has negative votes is beyond me. Also, like SpudimusPrime89 said, I think it can be done at any hive. I did it at the very first one as well.

Do this on time trial mode and if you get timing wrong you won't lose a life

For easy timing start your slide spin just as you see/hear the second bee pop out, had 100% success rate with that.

I thought this method was crap at first until I tried holding the controller differently so I could use seperate fingers to tap B and X in really quick succession.
Turns out the method is real easy that way, it's all about pressing X as quickly as possible after B, before the bees touch you. It definitely matters how you physically hold the controller here

There's an alternative to this, however your'e going to need to possess every coloured gem. When you got them, go to the level Spaced Out, at the beginning of it, and then hop on the gem path.

You need to get all of the Color Gems first, then go to Spaced Out.
There is all the frees there that you can collect. The perfect way to get 99 lives.
Repeating it until you reach it ^w^.

Credit for this guide goes to the youtuber PowerPyx. Link to their video below the solution.

Whilst this can be done by repeatedly playing any level until you hit the 99 life cap, you can get this quickly on either of the level Bee-Having. On this level, you'll past by beehives that spawn a swarm of bees. Each time you kill these bees before they can leave their hive, you get a free life. From approx. 20 lives, it takes about 10-15 minutes to get the achievement. This can be done at any hive in the level, but the easiest (and the one the video suggests using) is immediately after the first checkpoint.

Unfortunately, unlike the first Crash Bandicoot game, there is no spot in this game with a massive amount of lives to quickly and easily farm. However, there is a bug (one from the original release of Crash Bandicoot 2 that the developers decided to leave in this trilogy) that you can exploit to relatively quickly and easily farm 99 lives. You'll first need to get to the fourth warp room, where the level 'Bee-Having' is available. This level contains beehives that release a group of four or so bees at once (as opposed to other levels where beehives only release one bee to chase you; this exploit doesn't work on those). How the bug works is that if you spin attack and kill all four bees at once when they're coming out of the beehive, you get an extra life. So, basically what you're going to do is get to a beehive, and then as soon as the bees start coming out of it, slide at it and spin attack (doing a slide spin makes your spin last longer, allowing you to kill all four bees more easily). If timed right, all four bees should easily die, and you'll get an extra life. Walk away, wait a second for more bees to start spawning, and repeat.

It definitely takes a bit to get used to the timing of the bees and of sliding and spinning at the right time, but once you get it down, it becomes pretty quick and easy to repeat to grind out lives. Below is a video showing how to do this. However, two important things to note before you watch the video:

  • I have no idea why literally every single guide and video say to progress in 'Bee-Having' until you get to the beehive at the first eletricity wall. You can do this exploit on any beehive. I did it on the first one in the level, so don't waste time progressing to that one
  • I recommend beating the level first before doing this exploit. With the level beaten, you can start it and immediately grab the time trial watch. This means that if you mess up the timing and the bees kill you, you don't lose a life. You'll just start back at the beginning and can repeat. If you're using the first beehive like I mentioned above, this doesn't set you back at all.
Here's a video showing the method, courtesy of PS5Trophies.
