How to unlock the Bring the Paine achievement in Cricket 19 - Definitive Guide

—————-Requires two controllers———————-

This one is tough to get playing normally. Tim Paine is Australian test side captain and wicket keeper. For this achievement you need to take 5 catches in a match (2 innings) as Tim Paine. However the game takes into account only those catches that shows the catching zone or reticule where you need to move cn_LS within a time limit into the catching zone and press cn_A to complete the catch. The reflex catches that gets caught automatically usually during spin bowling doesn’t count here.

Thanks to folks at psnp found an easier way to achieve this. This requires two controllers. Start an ashes tour picking Australia.

1. Before starting the match go to edit lineups. For Australia, swap Travis Head or anyone you want with Alex Carey or Peter Handscomb. Highlight them and press cn_Y for options and make them the wicket keeper. Technically you can make anyone as wicket keeper and need not swap Travis Head. Just for authenticity we are making Carey or Handscomb as keeper

2. England default lineup bat deep till no 9. To make things easier we are going to swap all batsmen in the team with bowlers. Change the batting order to make Anderson and Broad open the innings followed by players like Leach, Olly Stone, Plunkett etc.

3. Once done start the match with two controllers with your profile taking control of Australia obviously

4. Go through the toss and make England bat. As soon as the match starts, pause the game with primary controller and goto tactics-field edit. Highlight Tim Paine and move him to long off position. Long off is the lower right position next to the boundary line.

5. Bowl only short balls with your first controller. Just press cn_B once. Immediately with second controller point towards the long off position and play an aggressive shot by just pressing cn_B. Important not to use backfoot. Played this way it gives a catching opportunity most of the time for the man at long off where Tim Paine is located. Pick up first controller and complete the catching mini game explained above.

Repeat step 5 for 5 catches and we are done. Sometimes if the timing connects for the second controller it may go all the way for six. Just keep trying step 5.

Good solution. Make sure you choose to play as the Australian team and NOT as Paine individually. And like Healtti said, make sure you check that your fielding placements have not altered, particularly when a new batsman comes in or a new bowler starts.

Great guide, my field was moving around ball by ball so ended up taking some catches with Cummins by mistake. I also found that I got more chances at mid on, that long on - but great guide nonetheless.

Great guide! But...I never once did the catching mini game moving LS into the catching zone. In fact in my first inning Tim Paine did 5 "reflex catches" and achievement unlocked. 5 mins total 😮

Great strat.
User: reiner- over at Psnprofiles helped us out big time.
+1

FYI: The achievement description may not match the actual requirement. My outfield got reset to a default at some point. I had a random guy in the far out slot, and I ended up getting only 4 with Payne in the 1st inning. Continued on to the 2nd but after the first catch...no pop! I had to get yet 4 more to rack up 5 catches in the 2nd inning alone.
