How to unlock the Average Performance achievement in Cricket 24 - Definitive Guide
This works two ways. The key to this is to not sim any of the match regardless of ODI,t20 or test. Simulating will void the achievement for that season alone.
You can select an existing player but I am not sure if a player who has already played test at international level counts here. What I did on Xbox was to play as Sanju Samson from India (using community squad) who has never appeared in a test match at international level yet. So the season starts with IPL for 12 to 15 T20 matches. I just hit few sixes here and there but get out as soon as possible to proceed with IPL. After this a 5 test match series starts against South Africa. With my player I play only the first test to ensure that I average above 50. Played the the remaining 4 with two controllers/declare method. Then odi/t20 follows with South Africa that I again play and get out as soon as possible. Next a test series against SriLanka starts where I complete the first match with two controllers/declare method. At this point avg performance unlocked.
Alternatively rookie career also works. Play the club level matches first 3 or 4 T20, ODI and three day matches. With a total of around 10 to 12 innings having total of 1200plus runs will be enough to get captain contact for the local club and a call from your county team. I played as English player. Kent as my county. You will get to play Division matches that are First class category in stats but still counts for avg performance. Need to Play 6 division matches and 3 one day plate matches in between with same method as above. After the 6th division match it unlocks. The used this method for PS5 and PS4 before trying the Xbox method.

Start a new career mode as a rookie player, dont use an existing player. Make sure your difficulty is set to the easiest for easy six hitting to guarantee tons of runs. I am not really sure if first class and list A games count for domestic teams but I got this achievement after playing quite a few matches with the Queensland Bulls in domestic level cricket.
I did this while going for Shabash! with Steve Smith on Australia. During my first test match, I scored 254 runs in the first innings, and a duck(!) on two balls in the second innings. Since 250 runs over 5 matches averages to 50/match, the achievement popped at the end of the second innings (even with the duck!)
So my advice is when you're playing on career mode for those achievements, take the tests seriously and you might be able to pull this off after a single test.

This popped for me in the dressing room after finishing 6 matches (more than 5), whilst playing the 1st class matches for QLD Bulls in the career mode. I had not played any other matches prior to this, except the initial games to get selected for QLD.
As there are two innings per match, depending on how the game plays out, you will have up to 12 innings in total, meaning you will need at least 600 runs to ensure you average over 50 runs for the 6 matches.

Well, that sucks. It definitely popped for me after the second innings of the first match. I had 254 runs, and hadn't played anything prior. It also says matches, not innings, so that would be 250 for 5 matches, or 10 innings. If a match has 2 innings instead of 1, it's still one match, and you need 250 across 5 matches regardless of innings.
It made me play through the second innings, because the match didn't end until then. Then it popped.
