How to unlock the First of the Crusader Kings achievement in Crusader Kings III - Definitive Guide

Start as King Svend II Ulfsen of Denmark in 1066. Have fun, play the game, conquer lands, marry off your kids etc until you get the notification for the Crusade. The war started for me in 1112. As long as you said your army will be ready when you were called upon, the achievement will pop as soon as the Crusade starts.

This might be the most stupid answer ever but I basically stumbled upon this without effort and without even trying to get it... totally by accident.
All you need to do is play on the 'Wrath of the Northmen' campaign then click on 'Play as any ruler in 867, .... '
Once you did that and passed the loading screen. You might want to take a look at Iceland. The Western Part is Vestrland, currently owned by the Catholic Chieftess Audr 'The Deep Minded' of Vestrland. (wich is who you will be playing as)
your rival is Gardar of Austrland, the Eastern part. (I achieved it this way since I wanted to start up by pillaging France and England first before accepting the Catholic Faith) wich is the harder way to do it since you need to get Catholic to get the achievement...
The way you play the game is actually pretty simple... Conquer you neighbour (whoever you play as), make sure you are Catholic and preferably you land is Catholic. Then just wait and reproduce heirs, and try to unite Iceland every time it gets split between your 2 sons.... When the crusaders are available, you will be asked to join the crusade or not. Obviously you join the crusade (and maybe even change the target to England or Norway or whoever you want to annoy) and participate.
In my gameplay I managed to change the target to England and attempted to repel some of the Sons of Ragnarr Lothbrock. (Halfdan - York) (Ivar) (Bjorn who invaded as well) (Sigurd who doesn't conquer land often but most likely sends his man to assure his vikingrr brothers succeed.
After Losing (not 100% sure) the Crusade, I ended up getting this achievement. You don't have to lose the crusade to win the achievement. You only needed to put money (think this is option) or but defenitly send soldiers on a suicide mission to die in the name of Odin... I mean... God Almighty!
After the crusade... Either try to take over Ireland, England, Norway, Sweden, France, Denmark, The Netherlands; Iberia or whatever you want to take over.... Attempt murdering kings of West-Frankia, Mercia or whatever big chunk of land you want ot see splitted up between heirs and claimants... Or Save and Quit the game!
