How to unlock the King of all the Isles achievement in Crusader Kings III - Definitive Guide

If you go to the achievement menu in game and click on the underlined "Islands in the Atlantic and Mediterranean" the necessary islands will be outlined in white. You cannot exceed 80 realm size at any point leaving you with 53 must have counties, and 27 you can take at your own discretion. Remember, you can grant independence if you're getting close to the limit and need more space for island counties.

Like most CK3 achievements there is no hard and fast way to go about this. One specific suggestion I have is taking Ireland somewhat early as part of your discretionary territory. You can form a kingdom with very few counties and being a king gives you a bit more strategic and diplomatic wiggle room (also Ireland is technically an island, so it's thematic laugh). Brittany is an option for an easy kingdom in a more central location, though it's proximity to Catholic France may prove troublesome.

Thanks for pointing out the way to outline the target region, it took me quite some time to figure out that you can do that because I never looked at the achievement list in game as a beginner (Which is a huge mistake if you are hunting achievements by the way, because the x-box descriptions of the achievements are often shortened to the point of being misleading, so you should always check the ingame achievement description for the actual prerequisites. This achievement is a prime example, since the x-box description doesn't tell you about the hard 80 county limit.) For pointing those things out, your guide is really helpful, so take a like from me and please don't take the second part of my comment personal.

I don't agree with most of the rest of your advice, though.

Conquering Ireland or Brittany just to get that as a first kingdom title is a waste of time and county limit. The best tactical option is to form a new unhistorical kingdom, which requires either having 30 counties OR at least 3 duchy titles. The latter is very easy to achieve with Island duchies, since many islands or island groups are their own duchies. Doing this has the added benefit that any duchy title you hold will become part of your new kingdom's de jure territory, thereby removing the "not my rightful liege" penalty for taxes and levies from those vassals (and they also cease to be de jure territory of someone else's kingdom, which can help to make some powerful neighbours less agressive).

If you don't like the idea of an unhistoric kingdom, Denmark is the fastest and easiest kingdom to make, it's creation requires only very few counties more than what you need to conquer anyway for the achievement (Duchy of Sjaelland and Island of Bornholm). Don't worry about the Norse culture divide event, the new cultures Danish, Swedish and Norwegian are also North Germanic cultures that are valid for the achievement, you don't have to remain Norse.

When you get closer to your goal, you must be very selective with the few counties you hold other than islands, because you need to have a generous buffer to the 80 threshold as long as you stay tribal, because with tribal government you can never forbid your vassals to wage wars of their own. Nothing is more frustrating than losing any chance to get the achievement in your current game when you were just about to wrestle the final islands away from Byzantium, just because one of your dukes made a little landgrab back up in the North or inherited a few counties from a related chief in a foreign kingdom and thereby pushed you over the 80 counties limit. So keep your count of extra counties small and focus on strong ones that will actually help you

My prime non-island targets that I like to own at least temporarily, but possibly even as part of my newly created de jure kingdom are the duchies of Uppsala, Jorvik and Praendaloeg for their Asatru holy sites.
