Since there are no other guides written, here is some info for the curious:
The Character:
Bolt moves twice as fast as Cadence, and so do the enemies. Bolt starts with a spear. Other than that, the gameplay is the same so I can't give many tips. I would guess that Bolt is much easier to play on PC with a keyboard (three fingers vs. one thumb on a d-pad), which means we're in for a rough time.
How to Unlock:
If you're having trouble unlocking Bolt by beating Zone 4 with Monk, you can use two controllers and go into co-op mode. Pick Bard as your second character, and basically just play through Zone 4 as him. Now you can collect all the gold you want (shops will still only offer one free item, though). If Monk dies you can still complete the level.

Lol. This is more of a guide on how to unlock bolt the cheap way than to actually complete it with her. "Bolt starts with a spear and is probably easier to play on PC." Quality solution right there. Should help alot of people out.
