How to unlock the Close Encounters achievement in Crysis 2 - Definitive Guide

When in stealth mode sneak up behind a enemy and press and hold your right stick to perform a stealth kill. This achievement is easily acquired by progressing through the campaign on your fist playthrough but if you missed it, just load a chapter and there should be plenty of enemy's to stealth kill. Do this 25 times and the achievement is yours.

Also If you die before reaching a checkpoint, you'll lose your progress towards that achievement. for example if you got six stealth kills out of 25 and died before you got to a check point then you will start at 0 out of 25
NOTE
(you must be invisible to perform a stealth kill)

Another thing you may want to add - I dunno if this worked for anyone else, but the 25th stealth kill i got was a simple melee attack on a small alien bug while invisible, so this might be an easier way to get the achievement, by running around and killing those little critters in stealth mode.

This is accumlated total right? Not just consecutively? I lost this achievement somehow as I did most of the storyline achievements. And now no matter how many I've killed I don't even get the white notification that dings up on your HUD. Like with the kill 10 enemies with thrown items, and 4 consecutive headshots. My stats say I have more than enough but nothing yet

Very helpful info about losing progress after a checkpoint.

Probably should note that with any of these SP achievements, Stealth Kills, Death Slide, etc: If you die before reaching a checkpoint, you'll lose your progress. Say you have 10 stealth kills, kill 6 enemies and die before the next checkpoint, it'll set your kills back to 10, or the last checkpoint's count.

On chapter 2 "second chance", in the subway after the huge donut section, their are about 10-15 little electronic scarab type creatures. They don't attack you (I think, they didn't me), just stomp on them from behind and you'll get quite a considerable portion of this achievement DONE. Just try and get about 10 stealth kills prior to this and im sure you'll get in about the 3rd chapter. XXX

Easy for me.
I got the achievement as I killed one of the ticks.
I wasn´t stealthed,
I just pressed the right button and stamped a few of the ticks.
(The mechanical, all over small ones with red eyes).

You'll be taught about Stealth Kill during the 2nd level. All you need to do is go into Maximum Stealth with  and come up behind any enemy without them knowing you're there. Once you're close enough, wait for the prompt to pop up and press in  to Stealth Kill your victim.

You'll easily get this early on if you concentrate on it and through the game you should mainly be going Stealth and getting these kills!

To make a silent kill, you need to approach the enemy from behind so that he does not notice you and press the melee attack button. It is advisable to enter stealth first.

who doesn’t want to hunt down and cut Cell fighters from behind. We reach the first descent into the subway and meet little alien bugs there (they also bit the fighter to death there) and that means we approach them point-blank, aim at them (muzzle to the floor) and they appear inscription, , crush , , so we crush them in this way 25 times. I finished off 5 of them myself and the trophy fell out!! 8)

If you act stealthily, you will get the trophy somewhere towards the end of the game (maybe even earlier).
