How to unlock the Ranger achievement in Cuphead - Definitive Guide
Many people are reporting this achievement to not unlock when expected. If this happens to you, try and get an S rank for the "Cooked to Perfection" achievement, or even try what ChrisAldin suggests and defeat the secret graveyard boss if getting an S rank doesn't work
This achievement isn't crazy difficult, but it does require a lot of work! A-Minus rankings are essentially a ranking that can be considered "Good enough". You tried your best and performed really well, but made one or two mistakes. That's how I like to look at it at least!
If you are getting at least 3 parries, shooting off as many special attacks as you can, avoiding as much damage as possible and being as quick as possible, you'll be able to get an A- after long enough! I always mess up in one category on the results screen (normally the HP or time), but I always make up for it in the other areas by performing the best that I can.
Anyways, let's get started on talking about the levels themselves. I will try to be as brief as possible, while still being as informative as I can! The video is definitely going to be a valuable resource because I go a bit more in-depth about the levels.

Bootlegger Boogie (00:34 in the video)
High-Noon Hoopla (4:46 in the video)
Doggone Dogfight (7:53 in the video)
Gnome Way Out (10:49 in the video)
Snow Cult Scuffle (13:32 in the video)
A Dish to Die For (16:07 in the video)
Here is a video guide for those that may find it useful:
If you drop any negative feedback, please PM me to inform me why. Constructive criticism will only make the information here better!

It didn't unlock for me until after beating the secret Grave stone boss. Try that if this doesn't work for you right away!

In Inkwel Island IV, you will face 6 new bosses: 5 of them can be found around the island, while the 6th is the final boss unlocked when you beat the other 5. Once you defeat all 5, you will unlock A Vacation in the Wilds by defeating the last boss, you will get Compliments to the Chef .
In order to get this trophy, you need to beat all 6 bosses with an A rank (also A- is ok for the trophy). In order to get an A-/A/A+, you need to fulfill some special requirments:
I will list here each boss. Find the best strategy that suits your playstyle:

The last boss. He has 4 phases:
In order to get this trophy, you need to beat all 6 bosses with an A rank (also A- is ok for the trophy). In order to get an A-/A/A+, you need to fulfill some special requirments:
- you must play on Regular or Expert
- you must defeat them under a defined time
- you must have 3 HP at the end of the battle
- you must do 3 parries
- you must use 6 special cards (or just 1 super-attack with all 6 cards)
I will list here each boss. Find the best strategy that suits your playstyle:
GLUMSTONE THE GIANT
He got three phases:
- Hit his big face while jumping from one pillar to another. Avoid all his attacks and don't fell on his beard.
- He will use two puppets, that are now your targets. They will throw a ball to you, avoid it while keep shooting
- You will be swallowed by the giant. Your target, is his Uvula over your head. Jump from one platform to another, avoid his trash and use parry to make the platforms available again.
ESTHER WINCHESTER
You will fight Esther in your airplane. She is the best boss to fight in order to get The High Hat . She's got 4 phases:
- In the first phase, she will be inside a moving saloon. Avoid all the projectiles and shoot her until she dies.
- In the second phase, she will try to suck you in her vacuum. Again, avoid all the projectiles and shoot her.
- In the third phase, she will be sucked by her own vacuum, becoming a moving sausage. Beware of the sausages around the stage
- Last phase is the harder: she will be inside a can of meat, with sausage coming outside and moving around the screen. Use the free spots between sausages to avoid damage.
MORTIMER FREEZE
He has 3 phases:
- He will float around the stage, throwing cards and trying to smash you.
- He will transform into a big "snowman", throwing you ice cubes
- He will transform into a big piece of ice and you will fight him moving between platforms.
THE HOWLING ACES
There are 3 phases for this boss. This is also the best one for Cooked to Perfection .
- In the first phase, you will fight the first dog. He will stay in the upside part of the screen and sometimes will move on the two sides of the screen. Avoid his attacks while shoting at him.
- In the second phase, you will be surrounded by small dogs that will bark at you.
- The last phase, is the trickiest. You will start with some lasers to avoid. You can damage the boss during this part. After that, you will move in the right side of the screen and the boss will throw you red and yellow bowls. I suggest to tilt your head on the opposite side, so you have a better understanding of the situation. Alternate this two parts of the fight until you win.
MOONSHINE MOB
There are 4 phases here:
- In the first phase, you will fight a spider that will move between floors, calling minions and bombs. Avoid the minions and move near the bombs in order to make them explode.
- In the second phase, you will fight a dancer. She will always be in the middle floor while some lasers will move around the screen, clockwise or anti-clockwise
- In the third phase, you will fight a big anteater. Move on the opposite side of his tongue and shoot the tongue to damage it.
- Once the anteater is dead, you will fight the last mob. It's easy, just shot at him and don't be surprised by him.
CHEF SALTBAKER
The last boss. He has 4 phases:
- During first phase, he will throw many items at you. Shot his head until he is defeated
- During the second phase, you have to shot the pepper shackers in the 4 corners of the screen. Avoid the pepper and beware of the small flame on the ground
- During the thirs phase, simply avoid the saw in the ground while shooting
- In the last part, jump from one platform to another while shoting the boss
