How to unlock the Master Crafter achievement in Cyberpunk 2077 - Definitive Guide

To obtain this cheevo, you need to craft 3 legendary items. As the name implies you need to craft top tier stuff, which is highly valuable.

Short Explanation :
1) Put 20 points in Intelligence or 18 in Technical Ability
2)Unlock Edgerunner Artisan (tech) or Bartmos' Legacy (int) perk
3) Craft 3 legendary items
4) Achievement unlocked, happy gamer.

Long Explanation

If you want to obtain as soon as possible you need to create a character and put ALL the starting stats in one of these two options: technical ability OR intelligence.
After that you need to reach lv 10 while putting all the stats points in the aforementioned stats of your choice, by doing that you should have either technical ability at 18 or intelligence at 20.
THIS IS THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT for crafting legendary items, because you need a perk that allows you to craft legendary items and this one will be able to be unlocked only if you have 18 points in tech or 20 in Int. (The perks are: Edgerunner artisan for technical ability and Bartmos' Legacy for Intelligence).
Once you obtain one of these two, you are allowed to craft legendary items.
You need a LOT of materials and a blueprint for crafting a legendary one. Don't worry about the blueprints, since you get a few from the main quest(if you go for the technical path, for the intelligence one you need to have the perk in order to get them). Materials can be a pain to find, so you may want to visit junk shop/netrunner shops to buy some extra ones.

IMPORTANT Since the perk tree is not actually a tree, you can unlock immediately the perk to craft as soon as you hit 18/20 on the stat. You don't need to have the uncommon/rare/epic one. HOWEVER, especially for the intelligence path, to craft the legendary quickhacks you need the epic version of that one. The epic can still be found on the world, from loot and quests rewards or you can buy them. So I'd recommend to have them to make your life easier. There are other perks that helps you finding more crafting components, but it's up to you if you want them or not.

Once you craft three items the achievement will unlock!

Happy hunting.

Completing open world organised crime bosses can net you a few legendary/iconic blueprints too, usually with a whole bunch of lower tier crafting materials lying around as well.

Was hoping I could cheat the system with this one, and save before upgrading something to Legendary. Upgrade it to Legendary to get progress towards the achievement, then reload my save and upgrade the same thing again to get the achievement. Unfortunately that method didn't work but luckily I was able to easily upgrade everything else I had to Legendary

For technical you only need to have 18 points to craft Legendary items, not 20.

Had to reload to a previous save to grab this one because I hit the level cap while being nowhere near the required Technical or Intelligence level. If you're in a similar situation there are some pretty good XP farming guides on youtube, was able to grind 7 levels in like an hour

Just an FYI that you can craft a legendary, reload a checkpoint, craft again and repeat 1 more time and it will pop.

Just my experience, I was frustrated with the V for Vendetta achievement, having to replay again, and XP Farmed 13 points to get that, then I realized I could restart and add my final 8 into Tech/Crafting. Brought crafting up to 20 with the 'soda' exploit and then remember this master. I quickly jump into crafting and produced 2 legendries and was completely out of resources ... then remember the perks about upgrading components.

So my last legendry was actually just the component upgrade.

Game is bugged, so please be beware, that if you do not craft legendary hacks early in the game - you won't have this possibility in the future.
Later in the game you can find legendary hacks which makes legendary hacks crafting unavailable.
Thanks to the fact that I have old saves - I could craft hacks, but I was really surprised that I cannot craft them later in the game.

David#4473 is wrong. Reloading saves to craft the same item does not work. Achievement tracker only counts the first one.

Yeah as a general rule this game's achievements track in-game stats, so if you revert to a previous save it won't remember what you did, even if the xbox achievement tracker suggests otherwise

TillTheMorning is correct on this one. This is exactly how I got my legendary crafts completed. I was not at all close to having my legendary crafting skill unlocked. However, instead of selling I was able to reload as some of the above said and just re-craft.
The specific quick hack for me was System Reset — you will need the purple (epic) System Resets in order to craft. I believe I found mine in the Charter Hill district, and Nix should also have one.

Does anybody know how I can go about doing this now that the perk trees have changed due to the 2.0 update or have they just not thought about it and now it's currently unobtainable? I had a look in both Intelligence and Tech, but can't see any specific perks relating to being able to craft legendary gear. Thanks.

Weird. I crafted countless legendary items already. yet this achievement is at 66% for me so far :/
Does "legendary item" really mean ANY orange/legendary thing you can craft or is it a special category? I mean obviously I crafted some but now I have no idea what it was and cannot complete this achievement 😞

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that there is a way to get the achievement without spending a ton of attribute points. During the "spellbound" sidequest you'll need to hack the spellbook with the pattern that says "crafting spec" plus the one that says "copy malware" (wiki claims the pattern is always the same here: BD E9 BD 55 1C FF BD) to get the crafting spec of the legendary system reset quickhack. That one can be crafted without any special skill. Also the quickhack then can be sold and recrafted again until you get the achievement.

"Master Crafter - Craft 3 Legendary items." completely glitched on me. The tracker was stuck at 66% which would indicate 2 items were made. I was eventually making 5+ legendaries and feeling pretty hopeless about it glitching.
I even stockpiled enough quickhack components to be able to make 5 more legendary quickhacks on the spot all at once, and still nothing would unlock.

What I did was I went back to a very old save that had 0 legendaries crafted. Bought out all 3 netrunner shops of their components and epic quickhacks. After I made the 3rd legendary, it finally unlocked.
So I can confirm that this achievement in particular ONLY unlocks from hitting the 3rd crafted item. Unlocks only at the point of moving it from 2 to 3.
When I was on my main save file that already had a few crafted, crafting any amount of more legendaries would do nothing.

This works as of Update 2.0.

(I loaded an old save that I was fairly far into the story to do this).

This was very easy, no perks or levelling up of any attributes required.
In the crafting menu (go to Inventory and then Crafting in the bottom right corner) you need to craft 3 of the Orange items (I had a load of options in my older playthrough and barely any in the one I'm going through now for Phantom Liberty so I assume you unlock the blueprints as you play the game).
You need Tier 5 Item Components to craft Legendary (Orange) items. I made 3 of a quick hack (System Collapse) which cost me 12 Tier 5 components per craft (36 in total).
If your playing through the game then you can make the various Tier components by crafting them out of the previous level Tier. Just save everything you can and use them to build up to the Tier 5 components.

I haven't seen this exact solution explained anywhere, so posting for others who might feel stuck like I did.

As nicely explained by E73RN I Erj in the other guide, to obtain the perk(s) to craft legendary items, you need to have either level 20 Intelligence or level 18 Technical ability. But, you only get 71 attribute points to spend, and I did not wisely spend enough of those 71 points on Intelligence or Technical ability, so I was locked out from advancing either of those attributes far enough to unlock either of the needed perks.

However, you fortunately do have the ability to craft one legendary item - the legendary System Reset quickhack.

In the side job Spellbound, you need to successfully datamine the Book of Spells (sequence is BD E9 BD 55 1C FF BD) to gain the crafting spec for the legendary System Reset. Completing the side job Kold Mirage will reward you with an epic System Reset which is needed to craft the legendary System Reset.

Before starting the point of no return main job Nocturne Op55N1, craft the legendary System Reset quickhack twice. Craft the first one by using the epic System Reset rewarded for completing Kold Mirage. Sell the legendary System Reset you just crafted to any vendor (you can't craft the legendary System Reset again if you already possess one). Then go to the Netrunner who has an epic System Reset for sale in the northern part of Japantown (just to the east of the Skyline & Salinas fast travel point). Buy it, then craft the second legendary System Reset.

Once you complete the final mission and return to free roam, visit the Netrunner in northern Japantown again. He should have another epic System Reset for sale. If you still have the legendary System Reset in your inventory, sell it, then buy epic System Reset, craft another legendary System Reset, and then the achievement should unlock!

Important: Make sure you craft two legendary System Resets BEFORE starting Nocturne Op55N1!

The cheapeast and less-tedious Legendary items you can craft are the components. You can also craft some guns but it'll require more moterials and a blueprint so it's just easier to go for the components.

First, spend Attribute points in the Technical Ability tree until you're level 18.
Then buy the following Perks, for a total of 6 Perk points:
  • Edgerunner Artisan
  • True Craftsman
  • Grease Monkey
  • Tune-Up
  • Cost Optimization (x2)
Then go in the Crafting menu and look for the Legendary Item Components. It'll require you 7 Epic components to craft a Legendary component. If you don't have enough components, you can craft Epic components with 7 Rare components, you can craft Rare components with 7 Uncommon components and you can craft Uncommon components with 7 Common components. Craft all of that until you can't anymore. If you're still short of some components to craft the Legendary ones, go visit a Weapon sellers. Some of them sell Rare components (they might sell higher ones too but I've only seen the Rare ones). Buy them all and skip some time until they're back in store and buy as much as you can/need. Now keep crafting components until you're able to craft 3 Legendary items.

*MISSABLE*

Before you can craft Legendary items, you will need to level up your Technical attribute to at least level 16. You will also need to spend a perk point on the perk in the Crafting skill tree that allows you to craft Epic items. You don't need to be level 18 and unlock the perk for crafting legendary items; more information on this below. The reason this is missable is because attribute points cannot be reset or respec'ed in any way, so if you reach level 50 and haven't put 16 points in Technical, you won't be able to obtain this achievement.

By far, the easiest way to unlock this achievement is to purchase the skills in the Crafting tree to be able to craft epic items, and to upgrade crafting components, because then you can simply craft three legendary crafting components instead of three legendary weapons, which requires far less work. If you have any more unspent perk points, also buy the skill that reduces the cost of crafting. By the time you reach level 16 in Technical, you should likely have many crafting parts already. You can also purchase the skill to craft rare items. Make a manual save if need be, and break down all your rare and epic items in your inventory. If you don't have enough epic components to craft the legendary components, use rare components to craft more epic components. If you run out of rare components, you can use uncommon components to craft rare components, and so on. Uncommon and rare components can be purchased from any weapon vendor. Once you've crafted three legendary crafting components, the achievement will unlock. You can then feel free to reload your last save if you don't want to waste all those crafting materials and attribute/perk points.

You will need to upgrade the Technique branch to 18 and in Creation take the Inventor perk, which will make it possible to create legendary items. It is better not to sell legendary items found during the game, but to disassemble them into legendary materials for creation until you receive the trophy.

You can also pump up Intelligence and invest perks in creating legendary scripts. When you create the required amount, the trophy is yours.

After completing the additional quest with Ozob, you will be given a recipe for “Ozob’s nose”, it requires a minimum amount of resources, we create it 3 times and the trophy is yours.

You can pump up your intelligence to 16 and upgrade your “coding university” skill, then just craft 3 legendary scripts. I had only one legendary script - reset settings.

With the add-on and version 2.0 everything is quite simple.
Create orange weapon components. Purple ones can be bought or obtained by disassembling weapons. The main thing is to create 1 at a time. 1 individual creation is protected. If you try to create 3 components at once it will not work

When leveling up to level 50, you can easily pump up your intelligence, strength and technology to 20, and then what kind of character you play.

When you create, and there will be a window where you need to indicate the number of items you want to create, do it three times one at a time, if you make three items once, it counts as one time for the trophy

In patch 2.0, the crafting system was changed. No skills/characteristics required. It is enough to have components (obtained by disassembling weapons that drop from almost every enemy), from low-level components you can craft higher components: white (level 1) -> green (level 2) -> blue (level 3) -> purple (level 4) -> gold (level 5)
Everything gold is counted (level 5): the components themselves, scripts, weapons
