To make it easier chose any song on easy.
Once the song starts let your friend/helper take a small lead, then wait for the Free-4-All.
Once the Free-4-All starts, 4 columns containing moves will appear, simply perform moves till you are in the lead. As an opponent can steal moves by perfoming them first it will be easier if your friend/helper is standing still.
This is also good time to get the following
The Bragging Rights achievement in Dance Central 2 worth 32 pointsEarn more than 100,000 points in a Free-4-All.
The All Over the Place achievement in Dance Central 2 worth 38 pointsNail moves in each column on the screen in a Free-4-All.

Naturally you'll need to be in 2nd place going into a Free-4-All. Just let your opponent hold the lead by a minimal amount until a Free-4-All starts, then tell them to let you nail as many moves as possible. If they aren't being cooperative, just go for the gold moves as soon as they appear.
