How to unlock the Thrash and Burn achievement in Dance Central 2 - Definitive Guide

Update: Songs

First things first, you do not HAVE to specifically play a fitness playlist in order to collect burnt calories. You can simply turn on Fitness mode as the top option in the fitness menu.

Unlike the previous game, you cannot pick your weight so it will burn calories based on how much you move.

Performances on Hard burn roughly 11 calories a song, this will depend on the song's speed and difficulty. Faster, more active and more difficult songs will burn more.

As the mode does not matter Dance Battles and Break It Downs are very good at burning the calories, as long as you have a heart icon in your helper frame while playing means that it will count calories. You also do not lose calories from quitting out of a song.

I'll put emphasis on the "while playing" part since jumping around in the menus won't count towards this. But you will actually burn calories in real life for doing so. Jumping around during a song will count, you just won't score well.

Some simple math suggests that the calories burnt are accurate for someone who weighs 85 kilograms (187lbs, 13st 5lbs). If you weigh less you actually burn less, if you weigh more you actually burn more. An unconfirmed rumor suggests that it may calculate your weight based on size, but this seems doubtful.

High calorie songs:

Dance Central export:
"Don't Sweat The Technique"
"Just Dance"
"Body Movin"
"Teach Me How To Jerk"
"C'Mon Ride It"
"Hella Good"
"Crank Dat (Soulja Boy)"

DLC songs:
"Turnin' Me On" (don't confuse this with "Turn Me On")
"I Got You Dancing"
"Hollaback Girl"
"Control"
"We Run This"
"Because of You"
"Superfreak"
"Disturbia"
"Marry the Night"
"Closer"

Dance Central 2 songs:
"Sexy Chick"
"Get Ur Freak On"
"Somebody To Love"
"Run (I'm A Natural Disaster)"
"Whip My Hair"
"Technologic"
"Toxic"
"Baby Got Back"
"What Is Love"
"I Wish For You"

You can check the progress in the fitness menu. This will pop once you have completed a song having passed the 3500.

Health note: Do not attempt to do this in 3 days or less! Spread it out over the course of playing.

He never said it was impossible to do so. He said it was a health warning. Based on your size. Small or large. You can really mess up your body trying to burn that many calleries. One could be plunged into cardiac arrest or something like that from it. Of course alot of people will be able to do it.

Ha I can't imagine trying to do this in one playthrough. Great tips - just turn on Fitness mode and enjoy the game.

The way I have been doing this is putting something in front of the kinect that will recognize it as a person and turbo the a button on my turbo controller to keep advancing songs and choosing a playlist. I let this go overnight. You do not burn as many calories as you would if playing but it is less work if you don't have the time.

If you install Kinect Play Fit and tell the app you weigh 550 lbs, you will burn 25 calories per song!

I noticed this too with PlayFit. I seemed to be burning more calories per song after setting the height and weight to maximum.

I have 41/50 achievements in this game and I'm only at 1,567 calories burnt. I feel this will be one of the last achievements in this game for me.

Stand your ironing board up in front of your TV and get your kinect sensor to recognize it as you and sneak away. Start a long playlist and watch it unfold.

lol, it's not what I did, but if you're wanting to boost, you could set it up to go while you're asleep.

From the dashboard, go and edit your profile. There will be an option "exercise information". Go here and enter information that suggests you're a young, male, obese, midget. This will ensure you will maximise your calories burned for each kinect game you play.

Cheers, didn't know this existed until I saw this solution. I think the other solutions are likely inaccurate as they are referencing a default setting from here.

This again can be done in any game mode as soon as you enable Fitness mode in the Fitness menu. Each time you finish a song, look for the message in the upper right corner of the screen indicating how many calories you've burned so far. The message usually pops up in 100-calorie increments for your running total. It seems to be approximately 12 calories per song on easy, but should come naturally from playing all of the songs in Perform It mode and the Crew Challenges on the various difficulties, especially attempting to learn and 5-star every song on hard. To check your progress, go into Fitness mode and look at your overall stats. This will likely be one of the last achievements you unlock.
