Dance Central 3

For those unfamiliar with Harmonix games, Gold Starring a song is accomplished by earning additional score above and beyond 5 stars. In the Dance Central series the better the move the more points you get.

The easier the song the more likely you are to get gold stars. As this achievement does not specify difficulty I recommend doing this on Easy.

That said, this isn't exactly an easy feat to accomplish. The first time through you may get plenty of 4 or 5 star performances, but gold starring may elude you. In order to get Gold you need to focus on getting as many flawless moves as possible. Good moves are still OK, but the Flawless/Good ratio needs to be pretty heavily weighed towards the Flawless side. Try to avoid anything less than Good.

There are a few technical things to check if you are having issues. Make sure the Kinect can properly see you. Move any obstructions out of the way and check the Kinect Tuner to make sure it's tracking all your body parts. Make sure you have adequate lighting. The Kinect has a visual camera as well as an infrared camera and has the ability to determine depth, but they work together so if the lighting is low it might not be able to pick you up well even though your figure in the game looks good.

The last thing I'd mention is practice! The brain and body learns through repetition. Find a song you like and play it a few times. Soon enough you should be getting Gold Stars without fail.
