How to unlock the It's in the Trial achievement in Dante's Inferno - Definitive Guide

"It's in the Trial" is by far the hardest DLC achievement in the pack, mainly because the EA trials can be tough and unforgiving. The fact that there are only currently 25 single-player and 15 2-player trials - at the time of writing - means that you're going to need to master all the tricky ones. Good luck!

If you're stuck, see the general technique guide HERE. A big thanks to all the other contributors in that thread for their more specific move per enemy advice.

1. Forget about co-op trials until you have completely completed all single-player trials. Without a single, it will be a waste of time and nerves.
2. Learn when to use divine armor and aggression. There are problems with magic on gold and platinum, don’t waste it, remember, this ability doesn’t restore much, but it restores life. But it’s impossible to get through without it. When you see a sphere with Aggression, try not to pick it up, use it only when it is completely impossible to pass. And in most cases, this is the developers’ banter, and when you use aggression at such moments, they later throw such enemies at you that you won’t think much without it.
3. Kill all small-grass minions and birds only with the RT button, do not waste energy and time on them, especially since when you take the enemy under control, your character cannot be dealt damage within a second - this is also an advantage.
4. Actively use rolls and blocks. The block can save you from losing your life when fighting with magicians (they are the most troublesome, but more on that later) and during a close encounter with the twins. Remember, when they spin, you can stop them with a block. It will take a little skill, but 9 times out of 10, you will stop him.
5. The use of crosses by Dante and light by Lucia is the main tactic and your main advantage over the enemy. In most cases, it's worth rolling behind Dante and shooting. In the case of Lucia, everything is simpler - fly as much as possible and shoot while holding the B button, this should be your main tactic when playing Lucia, forget about combos, especially on gold and platinum. Flying in circles in a small area helps a lot; this will more than once save you from those who want to get you from the ground, both from orb magicians and from the axes of demons.
6. And now about the most difficult opponents - magicians. They are killed very well in the air, but first I would recommend seeing off the ground combo: XXYY Y. Next, we throw them into the air, and if luck is on your side, then while they are in the air, we hit them several times with X, but without holding down LT, then press RT and try to throw them into the air again, hit them several times again, and it may happen that you will be able to throw them 3 times, but unfortunately no more. When you are attacked by a crowd under shields, your main task is to try to kill the magician who put the shields on everyone, of course, not without using magic, but unfortunately, the only hope here is that you will be lucky and kill that very magician.
7. Regarding the latest cooperative trial:
-You must save the maximum number of lives until the final arena, it is advisable that before the last arena you are killed 1-2 times, no more, do not play heroes, save your nerves and time, it is better to start over.
-Try to maintain aggression until the final wave; without aggression from at least one player it is impossible to complete it. 'Helpful' the developers in two places will offer you a sphere with aggression, but don’t buy it, it’s possible to go through a combo wave and kill the fire demon without using it.
-Don’t neglect the fountains, they don’t give much, but they save you.
-The correct use of magic is the key to success in completing this trial, do not use it just like that.
-Please note that in some waves it is better for one player to die and lose one life than for both players to lose a life by failing the mission, this applies to waves with combos, summoners, killing specific targets and protecting the prisoner.
-Don't forget about the traps in the arenas, they remove an indecent amount of health.
-Birds and minions must be killed first, on waves with magicians they are priority, if there are birds, then eliminate them first, but then all attention is on the magicians.
-On waves with summoners, one player stands on one end of the map, the other on the opposite, each on his side waits for him and shreds him.
-On a wave where you need to kill certain magicians, try to kill them on the ground, act carefully in the air, there is a possibility of accidentally picking up a bird in the heat of battle.
-On the wave where you need to protect the prisoner, all minions are killed only on RT, if the prisoner is nearby, then choose B for reprisal, this will save you from accidentally killing the prisoner.
-It’s possible to complete a combo wave using magic only once. Under the shield, try to get into the heap of enemies, and when the shield ends, try to get between two fat men, they will help most in setting up combos, but you don’t have to risk it and use magic 2 times.
-On the 4th wave of the 6th arena, you have a great opportunity to farm up to maximum health and mana before the 2 final arenas, just don’t kill the summoner, and an endless number of birds are at your disposal.
-On the penultimate wave you have unlimited time, but tough enemies, the best tactic for this is one player distracts the enemies, and the other rushes around the map and tries to kill the summoner.
-On the last wave, the key to success is a combination of magic and aggression. While you stand and wait for the summoner on your side, it is advisable to significantly chop up the mage, but be careful not to overdo it. It is advisable that first one player activates aggression, after killing the summoner and mage, the second player uses aggression on the winged demons. With this tactic, getting through the last wave shouldn't be too difficult.

A VERY difficult trophy. It is more difficult than all the trophies in the game combined. As stated in the description, you need to complete 25 single (various) and 15 cooperative (various) challenges from the game developers (there are only 25 and 15 of them, so you don’t have to choose). If you did not complete the game on the maximum difficulty level, but ran through it on the Easy difficulty level (most likely), then you will have to study each test for a long time and learn how to play.

The most difficult test in the DLC is Ascension (the latest co-op trial), starting from arena 5, the damage received increases many times, 1-2 hits and you are dead. It is important to clearly coordinate actions with your partner. The first step is to extinguish heretics and pagans, because They attack with painful projectiles, and heretics also cast an aura that protects all enemies from ranged attacks. The biggest problem is presented by the 6th arena (Lake Cocytus), 6th wave - there you need to kill a summoner, a heretic, two flying archdemons and a couple of fiery invisibles in 1.5 minutes. It is very important to bring a stripe (or better 2 or 3) of Redemtion to both players and full health and mana before this wave. There will be no problems with the latter, on the 4th wave of this arena you need to kill the summoner who summons the pestles - orbs generously fall out of these flying creatures, so first heal, gain mana and bring down the summoner. In wave 5 there will be a summoner again, but he and the minions won’t cause much of a problem, the task is just to kill everyone, don’t rush. As the 6th wave begins - turn on Divine Shield, Redemption and both wet the summoner with scythes (the heretic protects him from projectiles), when he teleports - immediately move after him. Like God of War, Dante's Inferno has an animation feature called dash-cancel (cancels the recovery animation after dodging), move the right stick to the side and spam - the character will move in dashes significantly faster. As soon as the summoner falls (and this will happen quickly enough if you both attack), switch to the heretic, and then take out the rest. If you kill the summoner in 30 seconds, there won’t be much trouble with the minions, except that archdemons are very dangerous in the air, kill them with charged projectiles (pressed ).

There’s nothing special to describe about single trials, even though there are almost no videos of trials on YouTube; you’ll develop tactics for each trial during the game. Just pay attention to the challenges with the Hellish difficulty setting, in some arenas the damage received is truly catastrophic. Kill every little thing (unbaptized babies, minions, pestles) with grabs on . Throw large, fast enemies (heretics, pagans, sirens, whores, miserly embezzlers) into the air first and kill them there. Slow enemies (horned demons, gluttons, death knights) are good for filling the Redemption bar on them, if you are not limited to a timed task, just stay away from these enemies and spam projectiles on them, filling the bar in the lower left corner of the screen. The coolest demon in the game is Malacoda, a huge amount of health and complete immunity to melee hits while he is engulfed in flames. Attack him as follows - 3 clicks on , then - this way you will gradually knock down the fire from it, and when it temporarily fades, the blow will will cause him damage. In the Path of Elightenment challenge, on the last wave of the last arena (Lake Cocytus), you will have to fight three of these monsters at once. This is where you will need all 3 Redemption strips, be sure to save them up and don't waste them. Gather the monsters together, hit DivineShield, then L1+R1 and spam charges in a circle, when they die out, hit them with the tringle. Ideally, of course, kill at least one while Redemption is in effect, and you are always under a shield, you have enough mana for shields - there are 2 fountains in the arena.

I'll give you a couple of tips to help you get the trophy: use only two types of magic: holy shield and ice cross. The first is a unique spell that gives temporary immortality and restores health. The second is an excellent tool for throwing enemies off a ledge (works in two arenas on almost all types of enemies). Kill harpies, children and regular enemies with swords using a grapple . Also single shots on they will help you a lot

For online tests, it is necessary to have an adequate partner, which is now very rare.
