How to unlock the Trollslayer achievement in Dark Alliance - Definitive Guide

This one is definitely the worst of these “archetype” achievements solely due to how buggy it is. I had to create a brand new character for this one to unlock.

There are a total of five different archetypes of Trolls: Red, Green, Acid (the one with bubbles all over him), Frost, and Electric.

Keep in mind that we need to kill the elite versions of these enemies. Elite enemies have the skull icons by their health bar and a green glow over their bodies.

Red
The red troll can be found in the mission, “The Broken City.” Near the beginning of the level you’ll come across a big purple bubble protecting a runestone. There’ll be four trolls that pop out and by killing them will spawn the elite variant of the red troll.

Green
The green troll can be found in the mission, “The Floating City.” From the start you’ll want to follow the mission arrow until you get to the runesword being protected by a purple bubble. You’ll then want to make a left and take the portal. Keep heading forward past the acid plants and then you’ll be in an open area where you’ll see the green elite troll come out of the ground.

Acid
For this one you’re going to load up the mission, “Designs of the Duergar.” You’re going to want to head towards the end of the mission for this troll. When you open the gate after pulling the lever, you’ll gain access to a fairly big area. You’ll want to head straight until you come across a named enemy called, Gruuln Threechin. You’re going to want to run past him and make a left, jumping up on top of the two ledges. Once you jump up, you’ll then be presented with the acid elite troll.

Frost
This troll is located on the mission, “Ghosts of the Past.” Right at the beginning of the level you’ll want to head straight running past the first group of enemies. As soon as you go downhill and make that right turn you’ll notice a ladder on your right-hand side. Climb up it and then take out those vines covering the chest. Open the chest, and you’ll notice The Collector come out of his hole. Be sure to take him out.

Electric
Thanks to @FayMoon, it appears that Stonegrinder is also required for this achievement. The final troll that we need can be found on the mission, “Halls of the Duergar.” Simply head all the way to the end of this mission, completing the objectives in order to gain access to the final boss of the mission. After you take him down, the achievement should be yours!

Advice:
-Avoid co-op when running through these missions as I believe they can bug out your achievement due to the fact that it doesn’t count the kill if you don’t get the finishing blow.

-Based off my experience, you’ll need to at least play on T4 difficulty for the elite variants to consistently spawn.

Hopefully after running through these missions you were able to unlock this super buggy achievement. If it didn’t unlock for you, I suggest running through these missions again on a brand new character.

Good luck everyone! toast

@SILVAF0XX, Yeah you can find them on all T1 and elite troll green and red you can find both on the floating city so you don't need to play broken city, i always get them 100% on T1 difficulty.

In order for the elites to spawn, I had to downgrade from challenge rating 6 to 3! Once I laughed 3, only then would the elites spawn in solo. Maybe this helps others.

Does it matter I’ve been coop with all types of characters and it’s bugged out because I tried a new character(lv1 drizzt & a dupe catti) killing all 5(once played the whole level out and second time just backed out for convenience) trolls

No matter what i’m doing nothing seems to be working and now I feel like I might need to delete one of my characters incase it’s the fact I have a dupe of a bugged character that’s making it glitch for me

@ColzoH Hey man i’m not honestly too sure what bugs out the achievement, but one thing I recommend is trying to run through these missions on at least T4 difficulty. Someone similar was in your position and by running through on T4 it was able to unlock.

I was not able to get the achievements with one of my character, so I started a new archer and I unlock the achievements before fighting Stonegrinder.

I got this and the other archetype achievements to work with the character they would not unlock with initially just by killing them again and again untill it just worked eventually. I can also confirm that they can all be done on T1.

I was having trouble following the guide for the Elite Red troll in the Broken City.... I was able to do it on my first try, DIFFICULTY 1, THE FLOATING CITY. The elite forma of RED and GREEN spawn together when following the mission pointer.

Personally, I had to come back and kill Stonegrinder again, even though I had killed all of the elite types before. I was doing this because I was trying to collect all of the lore items on one character by myself, so Stonegrinder was the first elite I had to kill that I could remember, since he's an Act boss. Wasn't a real problem though, I'm supposed to be running rank 3 missions and I ran it on rank 1.

I can confirm - beating Stonegrinder again unlocked the cheevo :) This was on Tier 1.

Thumps of on the solution but for the love of me, I can't get the Red version to spawn. Tried ~20 times already on difficulty settings ranging from 1 - 5. I also tried on "The Floating City" as Acaelus suggested above without luck. Anyone has any alternatives?
Edit: I gave up after 5h spread on 2 days replaying all over and over again "The Broken City" and "The Floating City". The Gods of Random tricked me this time :)

Looks like Stonegrinder (final boss from the second dungeon - Halls of the Duergar) is also required for this achievement.

I initially started the game as Cattie Brie and defeated this specific boss in co-op. Probably have not registered the final blow and it affected the achievement on this character. After slaying dozens of elite trolls, including The Collector and Stonegrinder, I finally decided to get over it and started playing as Bruenor (T1). Achievement popped after killing Stonegrinder.

I'm pretty sure that what makes it "buggy" is that you have to use the same character to kill all 5 types. I started out doing coop with friends as Wulfgar, killing Stonegrinder (electric troll boss at the end of level 2) as him... then switched to Drizzt for the rest of the game and killed the 4 other types (also by rerunning the mentioned maps solo), and only when I went back to Stonegrinder as Drizzt and killed him, the cheev popped. So from that I reckon that you gotta kill all types on one character profile.
