How to unlock the Gulch Bonfire achievement in DARK SOULS II: Scholar of the First Sin - Definitive Guide
In the interests of not spoiling anything or revealing any of the game's deadly secrets I won't include any information about the bosses or the areas you have to travel through to reach them. If you want to look up any information on your own, the name of this boss is
For this one you will need to travel down the large pit in the middle of Majula. There are a couple of different ways to do this without falling to your death but I'll let you work that part out for yourself. At the bottom of the pit you will find The Gutter which leads to Black Gulch. Fight your way through Black Gulch and there will be a boss battle. After defeating this boss look for a small cave entrance directly across from where you entered the boss area. You will find the primal bonfire in this cave.
Story progression – can’t be missed. For this fight you need to defeat The Rotten in the Black Gulch. He is a large enemy that does primarily melee attacks (that can be blocked if you have the Endurance and a good shield) and some dark spells too. You can find a summon sign for Lucatiel in the hidden room to the right side of the chamber before the mist door, plus another sign for an archer near the wall on the left side before the door. Keep your distance if you can, as he has a dangerous grab attack, and bait him into one of his large swings or an overhead smash. Then step in and attack him while he recovers. Watch out for the many flaming pits in this room as they do a lot of damage to you, and none to him. But he moves so slowly that you should be able to keep him at arms length and just dash away from him to heal if you need to. Once he dies you can go into the new room to activate the Primal bonfire.
Story related cannot be missed
For this trophy, you must work your way down to the Black Gulch and defeat The Rotten, lighting the primal bonfire in the cavern afterwards. There are two ways of reaching this area listed below.
Majula Pit - You have purchase the Silver Cat Ring and carefully drop down to the Gutter
Or
User Gilligan's ladders are completing the Earthen Peak to safely climb down
The Gutter - There is no boss here so just make your way through to the Black Gulch.
Black Gulch - This is a very annoying area and it helps to have poison moss as you will constantly shot at by poison statues
For The Rotten, make sure you find Lucatiel in the area first and exhaust her dialogue to find her sign near the third bonfire to summon her for this fight to contribute toward the Lucatiel trophy. You can also summon 2 other NPC's earlier in the area to make this boss very easy. His attacks are mostly melee and slow. Just make sure to dodge and used ranged magic if you have it.
to avoid all this, you can go to the second fire, which is right next to the fog, you can get to it only if you walk along the right edge along the cliff, at the end there will be a path to the fire, to get there you need to revive the stone statue using a fragrant branch of the past, if you have one lying around extra. Also, right next to the fire, you can find the farros key stone in a jug and a sign for summoning Lucatiel from myrrh, which will make the battle with the boss many times easier, because can tank him for an incredibly long time. plus this fire is just a stone's throw away from the fog.
1) Jump into the hole in Majula (it is advisable to have more than 1000 health and buy a ring from the cat to reduce damage from falls) and get onto the ledge in the Tomb of Saints. After passing this location, you will find yourself in the Garbage Garbage. And after the Garbage - in the Black Cleft.
2) Do not jump onto the ledge into the Tomb of Saints, but jump further down. You will be taken straight to the Garbage Garbage.
It’s better to choose the first one, because... You will earn more souls from the easy boss of the Tomb.
It is better to hit the Rotting One (the boss of the Black Cleft) from afar. You can summon as many as three phantoms to fight him, so the battle won’t be difficult.
