Didn't pop for me on picking the ring up. It's not the only one to have glitched either....

Looks like I'm resigned to another playthrough if I want it :/

Achievement didn't work on NG. Didn't work on NG+. Before grabbing the ring the second time I Quit the game, Cleared my Save Data in my storage, hard reset my xbox and cleared my cache. Then I signed back in and grabbed the ring. Nothing. Really don't want to go here again in NG++ or especially on a new character......

This is a progress related, unmissable achievement. To acquire it you need to make your way to the end of the Undead Crypt area. Vendrick, king of Drangleic will be patrolling the area but he will not be hostile unless you attack him. Simply walk to the back of the area and collect the ring to pop the achievement.

Story progression – can’t be missed. Once you defeat the boss in the Undead Crypt you will go into the room behind him and see an optional boss (don’t attack him yet) and an item to grab. Pick up the item to get this ring and the achievement.

Story related cannot be missed

To get the King's Ring, you must first access the Undead Crypt. In order to do so, you need to complete Shrine of Amana and defeat the Demon Song boss.

Once you defeat the boss of the Undead Crypt, there is a further doorway you can go through and you will see King Vendrick walking around. DO NOT attack him yet as he is not hostile and your attacks will inflict laughable damage. Grab the ring beyond him for the trophy.

You’ll pick it up at the end of the “Crypt of the Undead” location, it opens the door in Drangleic Castle, from the 2nd bonfire to the left. Don't miss the trophy!

Obtain according to the story by taking the royal ring in the Crypt of the Undead. You don't have to kill Vendrick for this achievement.
