Warning: heavy spoilers ahead for the end of the game!!

To get this achievement you must see one of the endings. There are two different endings, you can leave the room (Dark ending) or enter the kiln and take the throne (fire ending).

The final room is the Throne of Want, accessed through the King's Gate near the King's Gate bonfire. Before coming here, the previous boss you should have killed in the Giant Lord.

There are three potential NPC summons before the fog gate.

There are two different bosses that you must fight, and a third optional boss that gives you the new ending.

These all occur in the same location, you can either fight them all one after the other without much of a pause, or you can use homeward bone (or other things with the same effect) which will allow you to replenish your estus. Once you have defeated a boss the next will be there when you go back.

1. Throne Watcher and Throne Defender:

These two bosses come at you relentlessly. The Throne Watcher is nimble and has a longer reach than you might expect. The Throne Defender is larger and tougher, but much easier to dodge. They have separate health bars much like the Twin Dragonriders, and when they reach half health they will apply a resin to their weapon. Summoning a phantom can help shift some pressure off you.

2. Queen Nashandra:

Nashandra is a large dark skeletal figure with a huge scythe. At the start of the fight she summons a few orbs which inflict curse when nearby (similar to the curse urns), you can hit these to remove them (they die from any hit, no matter how weak). I suggest you take care of these as quickly as possible otherwise your health bar will diminish quickly. The easy way to beat her is to stand just outside of her scythe reach to provoke an attack where she fires a laser at you. She will raise her left hand and charge for a second, just roll out of the way then charge her, hit her until her attack ends, then repeat.

Note: if you have not met Aldia (Giant fire face guy) in the Undead Crypt or the Dragon Shrine because you skipped/missed the bonfires, and/or if you did not kill Vendrick before fighting Nashandra then the game will end here with the original ending cutscene (light ending).

3. Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin:

Aldia only appears as the final boss if you met him at the fourth primal bonfire (you will miss this if you do the Shrine of Winter skip), at the first bonfire as you enter the Undead Crypt, and at the bonfire in the Dragon Shrine (just after the bridge). Furthermore, you must have killed Vendrick before defeating Nashandra (see 'Vendrick' guide for assistance).

If the above conditions are met then after you defeat Nashandra, Aldia will talk for a bit then appear. He has fairly basic attacks and is quite weak. Do not attack him (mêlée) while he is surrounded by fire. He has a tree attack where tree spikes come out of the ground, easy to dodge. He also teleports, when he comes out of the teleport the flames are not around him, so hit him a couple of times, but they come back fairly quickly. If he charges a fireball above his head then you can attack him safely for a longer period of time, but be careful the fireball does immense damage (insta killed me at full health, 30 vitality), so once you have hit him a bit distance yourself and dodge the fireball, which has moderate speed. He also has some more attacks but they are rarer and of little consequence.

Once you have defeated him you will be presented with a choice, to either leave the way you came, or go towards the kiln. Make your choice and the achievement should pop, along with credits that may be unskippable (I couldn't).

They can't be skipped for the first play through, I used a Bonfire Aesthetic and then was able to skip them.

You can always equip the ring that prevents loss upon death to exit without losing your souls and human status in between boss battles.

I had the same problem of not unlocking after that I used a brazier of adversity and did the ending again and it unlocked

Nevermind it unlocked right after the credits, funny enough though I ran right to Cale to get The achievement for all bonfires lit for his achievement and that didn’t pop and it was literally like 1 minute after the ending achievement did, so weird, onto NG+ I suppose

TUTORIAL PARA DARK END

Para conseguir essa conquista, você precisa ver o Final Escuro. Há dois finais diferentes, você pode sair da sala (Final escuro) ou o tomar o trono (fim de fogo). Há dois chefes diferentes que você deve lutar, e um terceiro chefe opcional que lhe dá o novo
final. Vigilante e Defensor do Trono são os dois chefes que protegem o trono. Ver vídeo abaixo.

Vigilante e Defensor do Trono

Após derrotar Vigilante e Defensor do Trono poderá enfrentar a Rainha Nashandra. É uma grande figura esquelética escura com uma foice enorme. No início da luta ela convoca algumas esferas que infligem a maldição quando estão por perto (semelhantes às urnas da maldição), você pode acertá-las para removê-las (elas morrem de qualquer golpe, não importa o quão fraco). Sugiro que cuide disso o mais rápido possível, caso contrário, sua barra de saúde diminuirá rapidamente. Ver vídeo abaixo.

Rainha Nashandra

Aldia, Estudioso do Primeiro Pecado só aparece como o chefe final se você o encontrar na quarta fogueira primitiva (você perderá isso se fizer o Santuário do Inverno, na primeira fogueira quando você entrar na Cripta Dos Mortos-Vivos, e na fogueira no Santuário do Dragão (logo após a ponte). Você também deve ter matado Vendrick antes de derrotar Nashandra para revelar o chefe opcional Aldia. Story progression – can’t be missed. Once you have the Ashen Mist Heart you need to use it on the various inanimate giants in the Forest of Fallen Giants (one near ballista room, one past Pursuer fog gate location and one through King’s door you can now open). Once these are complete go to the King’s door in Drangleic castle (to the left of the first bonfire) and head to the Throne of Want. In Scholar of the First Sin you then have three boss fights, back to back, though you can do the first one BEFORE doing the memories of the giants to make your life easier. But you will still have to then beat Nashandra and Aldia to finish up.

After the last boss is defeated you have completed the game and get the achievement. You can then choose to mop up anything you have missed (BE SURE TO DO THIS) or go into NG+ (if you chose the first option you can then select NG+ from the Majula bonfire).

Story related cannot be missed

In order to challenge the final boss of the game, you will first need to acquire the King's Ring (see King's Ring) and have defeated the Giant Lord for Giants Kinship in the Memory of Jeigh. You can then open the door in Drangleic Castle Kings Gate bonfire that leads to the Throne of Want and your final battle where you will face the Throne Watcher and Throne Defender. These two are fairly easy to defeat especially if you summon Benhart and another NPC. Just ensure you whittle their HP down together as when one 'dies' it will get revived by the other within 20 seconds, so you must kill the other in that time frame.

Afterward, you will have to face Nashandra, she is quite straightforward and your NPC's will stay for this fight, though if you die I believe you can summon 3 NPC's against her making the fight a joke. Just avoid her cursed dark orbs and try to keep your distance and use magic if you have it to damage her from afar.

Note regarding Aldia: If you met Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin in all 3 'explosive' locations during the game and answered yes to his questions, he will appear as the true final boss boss after Nashandra. You can simply skip this fight by not killing Vendrick before facing Nashandra, Aldia doesn't drop anything or give you any souls so fighting him is almost pointless.

If you do fight him your summoned NPC's will stay and are very useful for this fight. Try to attack him when he doesn't have his fire aura as he is highly resistance to damage in this state. He is harder than the previous battles, but nothing too serious. Win all of these battles and the trophy will pop after the credits.
