So, I killed Velstadt, but made the mistake of aggroing Vendrick before I got the ring from that room. I died my first attempt against Vendrick. I have since beaten him but when I go back into the room, I cant find the ring. Did I screw this up?

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anybody having a similar issue (most people who attacked Vendrick could still grab the ring at the back of the room even if they didn't kill him). Since you amazingly managed to beat him, are you 100% sure you checked the very back of the room (opposite from the entry door)?

I'll keep having a look to see if I can find another mention of this happening, and hope that you manage to resolve it as well.

Okay, managed to find another person having this issue:

As soon as I find mention of a possible fix for this 'glitch', I'll update the guide with an answer.

I ended up getting it. I'm not sure what happened. It wasn't in the room, I turned off the game, went back in and it was there again, so I was able to get it. That's what I get for running in swinging. Good solution otherwise.

Thanks for the update. I'll keep it in the solution until I'm convinced this can be fixed by restarting the game.

Damn, that sucks. Did you try checking the Item Box at a bonfire to see if they put the ring in there for you?

You could also try using a bonfire ascetic, but that means you'll have to fight Velstadt at NG+ difficulty.

No problem. It was suggested in a thread over on GameFAQs, so I'm glad it worked for you!

Can anyone volunteer to help me fight this boss by letting me summon them as a phantom?

I had this glitch very recently. Found it in the item box on my first run. I went into NG+ and the ring was on his corpse. Got the achievement when I picked it up.

I have the same problem but much worse and probably unfixable. So I killed the boss before vendrick and i enter the room afterwards and he isnt mad like he should be. I saw the dead body in the back and it had no glow and i tryed to press A on it anyways but still wouldnt work. So after a while of restarting my game and it still not appearing i make the dumb move of attacking him because i had no idea at the time that vendrick would get mad. After i died i went back to the fight and the body still had no glow. Ive tried restarting the game but it still wont work. Any ideas?

To get this trophy you will have to beat Velstadt in the Undead Crypt. The path to getting here leads from the last trophy (Looking Glass Knight ).

1. You will take an elevator down to the Shrine of Amena
2. Beat the Demon of Song boss in the Shrine.
3. Progress through the Undead Crypt and fight Velstadt.
4. Head in the undead Vendrick's location after you beat Velstadt, get the ring and leave without attacking Vendrick.

Video guides for the Shine walkthrough and on the bosses needed to get the Ring and the King Ring's specific location are below:

Story progression – can’t be missed. Once you defeat the boss in the Undead Crypt, you will go into the room behind him and see an optional boss (don’t attack him yet) and an item to grab. Pick up the item to get this ring and the achievement.

At the end of the "Crypt of the Undead" location after the boss Velstadt, the king's protector, there will be a room with a huge zombie (peaceful) and this very ring. Story trophy.

This “zombie” itself will not attack, you can take the ring without fear of a blow from a hefty two-handed weapon)

But later you will still need to defeat this zombie for the "Vendrick/Vendrick (Secret)" trophy.

By the way, the Royal Ring not only opens doors, but also increases pyromancy by 1%, and also adds damage to fire weapons. After receiving the ring, talk to the man who stands in the crypt (where you can’t turn on the light), he will give you his set and weapons.

It lies on Vendrick's armor in the location Crypt of the Undead, in the arena with a boss, and it is not necessary to kill the boss himself. Vendrick (that huge hollow one with a sword) will not attack you if you yourself have not dealt him a blow (usually 3-4 hits, but it depends rather total from your damage). After you take the ring, talk to the Emerald Messenger, who will appear at the entrance to Vendrick’s arena, after which you will be given a trophy.

The ring opens the royal doors (if equipped)+ increases the power of your pyromancy by 1% of yours. Does not carry over to Ng+
