How to unlock the Master of Miracles achievement in DARK SOULS II - Definitive Guide

Nyxil's solution has all the basics, but I'm just adding some information from my personal experience for the more difficult to obtain miracles.

I bought Bountiful Sunlight and Wrath of the Gods from Chancellor Wellager in Drangelic castle in NG++ (playthrough 3). I just blitzed through the four primal bosses to get to the Chancellor ASAP. you can also get them by ranking up in the Blue Sentinels covenant but that requires many, many successful invasions (500, I believe).

I got Sunlight Spear by doing white soapstone boss assists while in the Heirs of the Sun covenant to gather the necessary 30 Sunlight Medals. My boss of choice was the Looking Glass Knight as he's pretty easy and was a very active summoning spot (at the time... YMMV).

Blinding Bolt can traded from Straid in the Lost Bastille. It requires the Old Kings soul from the Old Iron King in NG+ (playthrough 2).

You can get Soothing Sunlight by invading and Killing Licia of Lindeldt. When you get near her (later in the game, I believe) after she relocates to the adjustable path contraption between Heide's Tower and Huntsman's Copse, the Crushed Eye Orb gives you a notification and you can use it to invade her.

EDIT: The Crushed Eye Orb is found in a chest in the Undead Crypt. When you pass the NPC that tells you not to use light, you'll enter an open area with two knight enemies on a bridge on the right. Drop off to the left onto a lower ledge, follow it briefly, and then climb a ladder to a higher platform with a chest that contains the Crushed Eye Orb.

Everything else can be bought from a vendor (there are several that sell miracles) or traded from Straid with a boss soul.

And i have a question about climax the hex spell can you buy it in NG++ or do you really need to go to rank 3 in the dark covenant??

As for the Climax Hex, you it was not for sale by the Chancellor in NG++. I'm 99% sure that you must complete the covenant questline to get it. The boss is weak to fire, so Pyromancy is very effective against it.

I got the spell thank you for your help bro:)

I have only 1 other question do you maybe know a other way to get the hidden weapon spell then the rank 2 from the bell covenant because i am bad in online battles against invaders and you need to kill 30 invaders for that spell so i hope if there is a other way

Kill the red phantom near the bell tower. I think u gotta kill him 20 xs. Just keep going up and down the ladder til he spawns the required amount of times. Talk to the dwarf every so often to see if you've ranked up.

You must be in ng++ for the chancellor to sell it. You can rank up in the covenant in ng/ng+ to get it, though.

Me and Licia killed each other at the exact same time and I didn't get the miracle. I'm sure that fight is going to be fun in NG++ *sigh*

It is the best to start directly with farming sulight medals if you start a new character.
But 7 million soul memory is not worse eluem loyce and the boss fight area from the ivory king are the good areas the get summoned also the fume knight and sir alone bossfight area are also good areas :)

and @The Cherished Yes...the drop rates are definitely nerfed. To give you an idea of the numbers, using the souls I have accumulated as progress, I have killed about 400 falconers at 700 souls each for 280000ish souls in a timeframe of around 3 hours, and only gotten 10 sunlight medals. This is with the jester's cap, prisoner's tatters, covetous ring +2 and occasionally using rusted coins. There are times where I have gone 20 straight minutes using 90 spells combined from hexes/pyromancy and gotten 0 medals (maybe 1)....it felt like an eternity

The Crushed Eye Orb is found in a chest in the Undead Crypt. When you pass the NPC that tells you not to use light, you'll enter an open area with two knight enemies on a bridge on the right. Drop off to the left onto a lower ledge, follow it briefly, and then climb a ladder to a higher platform with a chest that contains the Crushed Eye Orb.

When you approach Licia of Lindeldt at the adjustable path mechanism just outside Majula, the Orb will give a notification. Use it here to invade her. Kill her to get, among other things, the Soothing Sunlight miracle.

Not sure how reliable farming summons (for sunlight spear) is in 2022 but you can alternatively farm medals solo. Here's a great guide to do so: https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/comments/6jb677/a_compre...

This guide is based off the SoTFS version so there many be differences in spawn locations and rates but i'm nearly certain the equipment and enemy types would be the same

To add to Sunnshhine's comment, I did a variant of his method thanks to a random YouTuber comment I saw:

-At the end of your first playthrough, burn a Bonfire Aesthetic at Things Betwixt to level it up. Make sure you're in the Covenant of Champions and use a similar gear set up to what he had. The Jester's Gloves are great too have too
-Start NG+, burn a Rusted Coin, and kill the 4 Falconers in the area. Then use Aged Feather to reset and do it all over again. As long as you never light a bonfire you'll start right at the beginning
-I played the entire game offline with the title updates and compatibility pack deleted, so I don't know if they nerfed the drop rates or what with patches but I got 32 Sunlight Medals in a little over 20 minutes using this method

This comment is specifically for farming the Sunlight Medals to turn in for the Sunlight Spear at the Sunlight Alter.
Especially with the servers getting ready to shut down. I did all medals offline solo. I did it at the very beginning of my NG++. Make sure you have your gear/spells how you want before you transition from NG+ to NG++. Also make sure you’re in the Company of Champions before starting the NG++. Infinite enemy respawns. Once you start the new game there is not a bonfire there to adjust. The gear I used to help with drop rates was the Jesters Cap, Prisoners tatters, Covetous Gold Serpent Ring +2, and Watchdragon Parma. You can also use a rusted coin every 5 minutes. I did not (I forgot). I did this with no DLC. The area you will be farming is literally the first area it puts you in when you start your NG++. You will see 4 falconers in this area. Kill them as quickly as you can and either die off or use your Aged Feather to respawn back with 4 new falconers. If you’re casting, you’ll have to die off every once in a while to replenish your spells. If you push past this area, you will not be able to get back to it later as far as I know. You can also use Ring of Binding to help limit HP loss. Took about 3 hours to go from 0 to 30 medals. After you’ve got your 30 medals push forward and finish up whatever you need to. You’ll have to unlock the area to join the Heirs of the Sun again and turn in the medals. But it’s not too bad. Hope this helped some!

I've created a Google Drive checklist for all of these "collectibles", telling you where they can be purchased, found, or obtained. Here is the link:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ag_8zDTp7F7jdGh...

Hopefully everything is correct, please notify me if you find something wrong. Be warned that if you do not wish to farm for Covenant ranks, this will take you until AT LEAST New Game ++ (Third Playthrough) before you are able to purchase them all. If you don't want to play that far, you will need 500 Tokens of Fidelity to offer to the Blue Sentinels Covenant, rewarded for successful co-op boss fights in other players' worlds. Happy Hunting :)

EDIT: Please tell me if you can confirm anything that contradicts or adds to this list, I've found a few that weren't on it in game and added them myself. Also, I am not sure exactly how ranking up in either the Blue Sentinels or the Brotherhood of Blood works, all I know is that this book says 500 Tokens, so if someone really dedicated to those covenants could shed some light, that'd be appreciated too :)

Apparently Blue Sentinel Ranks are gained from SUCCESSFUL duels and protections, which don't stack together. So you'll either have to wait a lot with the ring on to protect other players, or farm many hundreds of Tokens to use to duel others in hopes of winning.

I was just discussing that with someone on my solution for the Pyromancies achievement. It would be incredible if it did, I just need to test it out. I'm worried about screwing up my future playthroughs if it doesn't work, though.

I can confirm it's not NG+++ to buy the spells, it's NG++ and you don't have to kill Looking Glass Knight or Nashandra.

By AbsolutioN IX on 18 Mar 2014 18:57
I just did it in regular New Game, and BOY was she annoying. I'm assuming it's the AoE attack she does that's one hitting you? I haven't tested it out, but something that comes to mind that might help is the hex "Profound Still", which blocks all spellcasting in the area for a while, which might stop her from using any miracles. I have no idea if that works against NPCs or just other players, and it has some very high requirements, so it might be worth a Soul Vessel to respec to try it out.

By Nyxil on 19 Mar 2014 19:53
Oh that's actually a good idea, I wish I would have thought of that. I realized that the AoE of her spell doesn't cover the whole room, so I just kept my distance and threw lightning spears her way.

Another thing to add, be careful when she is close to death. A friend of mine killer her at the same time she killed him. She died and disappeared for good, and my friend didn't get the miracle from her when he respawned at the bonfire.

This is just a thought but does using bonfire esthetics also raise the 'level' of the merchants? It does with the bosses so it might work with merchants too. This way you wouldnt have to run through the game multiple times for Chancellor Wellager and you could get his spells in the first playthrough.

Oh? I'll try copying my save as well, because I haven't attempted it on DS2. I just assumed it was like the first where you couldn't copy save games.

By Nyxil on 21 Mar 2014 20:30
I had the same thought as Zero Judgement and just tried using the Esthetic on the King's Gate bonfire (first bonfire in Castle Drangleic) after beating the final boss in NG+. I can confirm that the merchant did not have the new spells afterwards. I'm assuming that was the correct bonfire for his area even though it's a bit after him as you're progressing.

If you hadn't killed the Giant Lord when you first fought the throne watcher and throne defender, then you wouldn't have immediately thought Nashandra afterwards. Killing the giant Lord is a requirement for fighting her.

By vSully on 24 Apr 2014 15:51
I am also in the progress of trying it myself. I was able to copy my save game but I cannot use a Bonfire Estethic yet because I haven't beat Nashandra yet which is required to use a Bonfire Estethic. I still have a lot to do in my playthrough so I don't know when I can confirm this.

Mmm, blue sentinel for rank 3 is 500 duel win, a duel cost a mark of fidelity, so it would take even more than 500. To duel, it's the 3 statues by the blue cathedral bonfire. In other word if you lose, you mark of fidelity does not count.
**Or protect the other blue members by wearing the ring of the blue sentinel by killing 500 times their invader, but forget that, it wont happen, beside, duel and protect dont stack.***

For Blood, it's the same but "evil side", kill 500 player as a red phantom, either sign down or cracked red eye. You can duel other members for a token of spite with the statues by the covenant leader, if you win you get a cracked red eye, wich is good since no one beside pvper will touch you sign, while the cracked eye will chose a random player.

Is that good for you Nyxil?

PVP tip: be under lvl100 or you'll get real pvper. Faith build, if you have sunlight spear, if someone start to drink a flask and you use it fast enough, it'll be an instant kill. other than that, resonant soul. nothing else to say, it use souls (dont use it if you dont have some) its fast and deadly. You can lower Sunlight spear requirement with an item called Skeptic's Spice, talk to the merchant in Iron keep to use them.

100% physical blocking shield.
Be under 70%
Have a high casting speed chime. Ex: Protective Chime (Using either lightning enchant or dark enchant on the chime will boost the damage of either "spears" or resonant soul.)
A Greatsword +10 with lightning enchant.
I repeat myself, be under lvl100, 60-80 is best to win.

You can get a royal soldier ring +1 (boost load limit) in the castle basement (first bonfire) third door on the right.

Trick is to start melee, try to circle him while blocking to backstab, if you see him empty his stamina on your shield, then heavy attack him once. After a while they'll start to freak out and go a bit farther, while they run, switch to chime and resonant soul them. If they survive, when they try to flask, sunlight spear. Dont try to "spear" at any moment, you dont have much spell use on it and it's awfully slow.

**This does not work against real pvper, but it's a certain win on children, you might get hate messages.**

This is not for you solution, just for crazy people who dont want to go NG++.

I think I should post this on the heir achievement but no one answer me there , anyways ,Ok I finished NG, my question is will I get any special items by killing the giant lord before killing Nashandra? If so , is the item needed for any achievement? I actually have killed the giant lord first, then killed defender and watcher, but I was killed by Nashandra. So that respwaned and used the defender souls for the defender great swords , and when I come back to the final boss area , I don't see the duo bosses anymore , but just Nashandra and I killed her and received her souls, I am just wondering if I have missed any items , since technically I was not fighting her right after duo bosses?

I found an alternative solution to get the 30 Sunlight Medals that we need to get the Sunlight Spear. If you, like me, are unable to find matches with the white soap for co-op games, you could try this method. At the beginning of NG + there is a new type of enemy "The Falconers", these rarely drop Sunlight Medals, the dropping rate can be improved with the "Jester's hat" and the "Gold serpent ring". Kill 4 enemies and then go back to the bonfire, after 10-12 times it will be necessary to use a Bonfire Ascetics because there are no more enemies. This method requires 2 or 3 hours to get all 30 Sunlight Medals, you can use this for take them all or simply to catch the latest that you are missing.
If you have any suggestions insert it in the comments and I will provide to update it.
I hope that my solution is helpful, good hunting!

Join the Champions Covenant to let them spawn infinitely.
Spares you some Ascetics. Other place to farm these is in Harvest Valley, choose the Mines bonfire and kill the 5 giants there. Droprate seems to be even lower than on the Falconers, but you spare yourself killing the 2 red nutsack guys and the swarm of little buggers before you can kill the falconers.

It seems after a while they stop dropping stuff, so it may be necessary to use a Ascetic as soon as you get no item drops from them.

Another piece of equipment that boosts you luck are the Prisoner Clothes dropped by the slaves in the Harvest Valley Mines (the hat of this armor set increases you luck like the Jester Hat but drops earlier).

This is to supplement the other great guides here and give some hints on collecting the needed 30 Sunlight Medals to exchange for the Sunlight Spear.

You get a Sunlight Medal every time you beat a boss in co-op when one of the phantoms in the session is a member of the SunBro covenant. If you are not a member, then you need to get lucky and be summoned into a co-op where another player is a member. If you make sure you summon someone using the gold summon sign for every boss you should get one too regardless of if you are a member of the covenant.

Unfortunately I had levelled up close to SL200 before realising I needed to collect the medals so co-op in NG was pretty dry for me. However I joined up with the SunBros, started NG+ and left my summon sign before the boss fog in Cathedral of Blue. As the matching restrictions are more lax in NG+ I was getting summoned every minute or two (Mashing that guy in 2 v 1 is sweet delicious revenge).

There are also a couple of enemies that drop them too. In Harvest Valley, the big dudes with hollows riding them have a chance to drop them as do the very first enemies you meet in NG+. Equip the Jesters Hat and Covetous Gold Serpent Ring to boost item discovery and grind away. The drops are rare so you may need to combine this with co-op or use a Bonfire Ascetic (Beware - This will permanently make the area harder for this and all future playthroughs) to respawn everything.

Hope this helps and then Praise the sun!

Fastest way to get sunlight medals offline in this version of DkSII

make sure to have all the item-discovery-armor and shield
>Jester's Hat
>Prisoner's tatters
>Watchdragon Parma (shield located in the dragon shrine near the end of the game)
>Covetous Gold Serpent Ring+2 (dropped by the Gargoyles on bonfire-intensity 2 and above; use a bonfire-asthetic)

and join the champion-covenant BEFORE entering NG+.

When you start NG+ you'll respawn in the middle of the falconers. If you need Estus or repair your weapon let yourself get killed.

Good luck have "fun"

30 medals of light are quite easy to farm offline! They drop out of falconers, near the very first bonfire (they appear only in ng+), when they stop respawning, we use the coal of hostility on the same bonfire and get to work!

I had a bad experience calling as a golden phantom on NG+. Hours are wasted.
I farmed medals by joining the Champions, wearing a mimic's head, a poor man's clothes, a ring for a +2 drop, and using rusty coins before each race.
Sokolniki are in flight because on NG+ there are two phantoms in front of them, and there are only four of them. In short, long and far.
I advise you to farm on Overwatchers. This is the second bonfire of the location. Since we are in the Champions, there is no need for the ember of enmity - enemies do not disappear after the limit.
First we take out two on the left, then we run back and take out one on the left and two on the right. It takes a couple of minutes at most to enter. Cast a spear of souls. Yes, sometimes silky stones fall out, but that's luck

1 of the miracles requires 30 Light medals, which are awarded for killing bosses with yellow phantoms. Therefore, it makes sense to kill bosses with 2 yellow phantoms in the 2-3rd playthrough, and closer to the end they will easily accumulate.

It is worth noting that to buy from the ghost on the stairs in Castle Drangleic, you need NG++ (beat the game 2 times).
Raising the bonfire level with the coal of enmity will not help here.

To complete NG+ and NG++ faster, you can jump over the temple of winter and not collect great souls. You need to remove the patch and put the jump on .

With medals of light, it’s better to bother with Ng+. On the 2nd playthrough, Sokolniki will appear in the starting location, then we put on gear with an increased drop, a dragon shield, a ring with a golden snake +2. Be sure to join the covenant of champions and boldly burn the embers of hostility 3 times at the first bonfire in the interworld for an additional chance of a drop. It took me about 3 hours to get 30 medals.

We obtain medals of light as follows. NG. We join the covenant of champions so that the enemies respawn endlessly. We burn the Ember of Enmity in the Interworld and at the second bonfire of the Earthen Peak (this will increase the chance of dropping items). We dress in clothes that increase luck (don't forget about the ring). We kill 2 supervisors immediately near the second bone of the Earthen Peak until the items (any) stop falling. As soon as nothing falls out 3 times in a row, we immediately go into the interworld and kill the falconers according to the same scheme. We hit while things fall, if nothing falls out 3 times in a row, we change the location. Thus, I quite quickly knocked out 30 medals of light (compared to all those whose advice I listened to earlier).

medals of light needed for a spear of light can be obtained from giants throwing darkness in the Harvest Valley in the swamps, but this drop is very, very rare. I advise you to knock them out only if you are missing 2-3 medals)

In addition to the giants, medals of light drop from falconers (the starting point of the game starting from NG+). 30 medals are dropped in approximately 4 hours. Don't forget to wear a ring with a serpent and clothes with zombies from the harvest valley.
