How to unlock the Crystal Sage achievement in DARK SOULS III - Definitive Guide

Note: Pre-Release versions of this game have 2 glitched achievements so far, this is one of them.

Crystal Sage is the 4th boss you will face and is generally straight foward but you can be killed very easily if you don't focus. When you first enter you can run up and hurt him and he will disappear but don't fall for this act as crystals will spawn around the arena and must be destroyed by running into them or more Sages will spawn and when multiple shoot you it can be very deadly.

The more damage that gets done to Sage the more crystals will spawn so at this point late in the fight just keep running for the main sage and after killing him the rest will go away.

Crystal Sage can be found on The Road of Sacrifices. He is located in some ruins directly left after leaving the Halfway Fortress bonfire where you meet Anri and Horus. Between this bonfire and the ruins where the boss is found, there is a hill close to the ruins where you can find the Crucifixion Woods bonfire which is much closer to the boss door incase you die.

Crystal Sage is weak to lightning, use Gold Pine Resin/Gold Pine Bundle to buff your weapon and charge him and hack away until he disappears. He struggles at dealing with close up combat as most of his attacks are ranged soul magic.

Half way through the fight, he will begin to summon clones of himself, each clone can cast the same spells that he does but they have no health. 1 hit will dispatch them. Crystal Sage's magic is purple and makes it easy to see which one is the real one.

He is resistant against magic. Weak to Physical and Lightning Damage including lightning spear. He can also be poisoned.

Easier with a summoned phantom to help obviously, but very doable solo.

Eygon of Carim is a NPC phantom you can summon for this boss fight and is located where the group of enemies were right before the boss door.

Crystal Sage can be found on The Road of Sacrifices and is the 4th boss you should face. He is located after the Halfway Fortress bonfire. The sage is weak to lightning and physical damage. You can also poison this boss, but the use of Alluring Skulls (distraction) does not work. Here is a wiki to get more information on the boss: http://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Crystal+Sage The only real catch to this boss is that while fighting it, it will eventually "disappear" leaving crystals all over the field. One hit will dispel the illusions that come, but if you destroy the crystals before they spawn it will lower the amount of illusions available. If you are doing this alone, you can summon the NPC who is located right before the door (archway) to the boss. Found on the Road of Sacrifices.

You can summon Eygon from behind a pillar in the room just before this boss if you freed Irina. This boss can be nasty, try and have items that block magic if possible. The key to this fight is speed. As soon as you enter he will be opposite and casting a spell, dash forward and try to dodge whatever he throws at you, then get a long combo on him before he can cast again. He’ll teleport away after taking so much damage. He’ll generally pop up in the farthest corner so get over there fast. While the pillars here CAN block the smaller homing spells, they do not block his massive soulmass casts – so be wary.

Repeat until he gets down to half health and then he starts to summon clones too, you can tell as they use blue magic to his purple stuff and can be killed in one hit. His moves stay the same so try and clear them out and close the range to him to chip away at his health. Always dodge roll as much as possible to evade spells you can’t see. He doesn’t have a ton of health but he can swiftly take you down if you get caught in a few spells.

Quite an interesting boss, albeit a simple one. I advise you to beat him with partners, because... One will have to run a lot, and you may not have time.

At the first stage, you just need to run up to him and deal a few blows, then the boss teleports and you just need to repeat.

At the second stage, it will create several clones of itself, which die with one hit. The difficulty is that they all cast ice arrows, and the boss casts dark magic. This is how you can identify him. After damaging the boss, the clones disappear. Repeat several times.

Drops - soul (can be exchanged for the Crystal Hail spell)

In the second stage, you can distinguish the real one from the clones by the color of the magic being cast. Clones cast blue magic and real ones cast purple. Video to help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slTQObtTzws

Easiest boss. You have to move quickly, do everything quickly. We run up and hit, when he disappears, we quickly look around and find him before the clones hatch from the crystals (yes, all this can be done and there is no need to waste time killing clones). As soon as we start beating him, the clones disappear. And do this 3-4 times until you kill the boss.
