You'll find the first bonfire shortly after you start. Proceed straight ahead (do not branch off to the right) and you'll follow the cliff around to the left and the first bonfire will be in plain sight.

Hmm the achievement didn't pop for me and I'm at the fire shrine. I did light this bonfire. Do you have any suggestions on how to correct this?

Look in the game hub and what does it say for progress on this achievement? I have a different one stuck at 100% but still locked. Many people have this problem, but I didn't realize it was still happening. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Try to create a new character without deleting the main one, and possibly delete the save data from the console (but not from CLOUD)...
Than start the story with the new character and let us know if it works!

From the start - get the Estus flasks, run straight past all of the enemies and head out of the graveyard and turn left. Light the bonfire and you're done.

This will more than likely be your first achievement. Once you start the game and kill the first few enemies, you will go straight ahead, out onto a cliff. The first bonfire will be in front of you as you follow the path up to the left.
You will also receive the 'Rest' gesture for using your first bonfire

Very straightforward. You’ll come to your first bonfire in the Cemetary of Ash after exiting the first area to a cliff edge, it’s on your left. Light it and unlock this achievement.
