How to unlock the Master of Rings achievement in DARK SOULS III - Definitive Guide

External image

This achievement requires collecting all 107 rings, which includes all variations. Therefore you need all 70 basic rings AND all +1 and +2 versions (one ring has a +3 version, too).

This image shows inventory order for all rings. Any that appear more than once have multiple versions that can be found in subsequent playthroughs.

The basic versions of each ring can be found in the first playthrough. The +1 versions can be found in playthrough 2 (in unique locations). The +2 versions (and single +3 version) can be found in playthrough 3 (again, in unique locations). In subsequent playthroughs, all of the rings from previous playthroughs are available as well, so you can't miss out on anything that you didn't get by going to the next playthrough.

Most are found in static places throughout the world. Some are sold by vendors. Some are are only available as covenant rewards and can't be obtained otherwise.

Rings can be traded between players, so if you have a friend that has a ring that you're missing and they drop it for you, it will count towards the achievement.

^ Curious as well. I'm assuming those rings do exist but are NOT required for this achievement (much like the Demons Souls trophy I think?)

Good work, I stopped playing the game recently. My problem being I downloaded the English language version (by switching region to UK and downloading the game after making initial purchase with JP account). That version of the game is not technically active yet so no online for the covenant items.

The three "x" rings are Scholar's Ring, Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring, and Obscuring Ring. The rings you have marked as Bellowing Dragoncrest (+1 and +2) are actually the Young Dragon Rings. Thanks for the guide!

If there are three young Dragon rings, what's the ring that I have labeled as the single young Dragon ring?

Sorry, I mis-typed, I meant Lingering Dragoncrest Ring are the three.

Lingering Dragon Crest Ring+0 (first run version) is in Farron Keep swamp. To the left of the flame door when facing it. Drops from giant crab.

Is that not what I have already?

By vSully on 06 Apr 2016 16:36
No, you have it down as Crucifixion Woods, there are 2 Giant Crabs there and they drop other items. Forgotten which ones but the Crab that drops LDC is in Farron Keep which is a different area. Closest spawn is the Keep Ruin bonfire.

So if you can't get a certain ring in your first playthrough, you're pretty much screwed? I don't have access to Yuriel of Londor.

You have the wrong location for the dragon scale ring. The only thing on that ledge when you drop off is an Estus shard. Anyone knowho where to find it?

By Nikolai420 on 09 Apr 2016 15:10
You've taken the wrong lift. There is a second lift in that area that you have to ride up from the bottom (taking you back to the upper area that leads to the first lift- the one with a heavy shield knight right before it). That's why I called it the "shortcut" lift.

Try purchasing Rings from vendors, even though you already own them. It can resolve this issue hopefully. I had a similar problem once, concerning Dark Souls II.

Most everybody who has this game is having a problem with some achievements – random achievements for each person – not unlocking properly. That's why only two people have "completed" the game even though 20+ people have the dark soul. Master of Sorceries glitched for me. It shows 100%, locked in my game hub. We just have to wait for this to work itself out somehow.

By vSully on 18 Apr 2016 19:27
Hah! I have not yet had such an issue myself on Dark Souls III yet. Only on Dark Souls II's Xbox One version - I bought another Spell from a vendor, which one I already have had, and the respective Xbox Achievement did finally unlock. If an Xbox Achievements' task's progress is at 100%, then there is nothing you must/can do within the corresponding software to make it work. This must be done from Xbox LIVE.

Is it possible to get the darkmoon ring from siri and talk to rosaria to be able to summon heysel for the gesture? I know you don't get the ring from siri until further in the game but since this is my last chance to summon heysel I wanted to figure it out.

Since all +1 rings can be found on NG++, it seems like the best strategy for this is to do everything you can on NG, blaze through NG+ ignoring all optional areas, then on NG++ grabbing any +1 rings that were in optional areas. This way you're not doing the optional areas on both NG+ and NG++... has anyone done that?

I guess if you're in a big hurry to finish this game, then that would be the best way to do it. I don't see the hurry, though.

For those that have all of the rings but no achievement, you need to get your starting class/gift rings again. For me, simply dropping them and picking them back up worked.

I just saw a guide on youtube posted by Taratang that solved my glitched achievement. I think it was the deep ring that was the culprit.
Not sure on the policy of posting links here, so just search for "DARK SOULS III - Glitched Master of Rings Workaround" on youtube by Taratang and I hope that helps you too!

The Flame Stoneplate Ring +2 is actually in Smouldering Lake, not Catacombs of Carthus.

@hullubaloo You've likely experienced a glitched achievement like many of us. It's totally random and there's nothing that can be done. For me, it was Master of Sorcery which shows 100% locked in the game hub. I was still able to get The Dark Soul so the game believes we have the glitched achievements. It's something on the Xbox side and all we can do is wait. It sucks.

For those who've already finished, how are y'all following this for NG+, etc.? Do you just check the list for any regions whenever you hit a new area?

@thefourthhunter I just played through the entire game each play through with minimal guide checking and would go back and clean up at the end. All of your ng+ and ng++ rings can be found at any point during their respective play through.

So far I've noticed the Chloranthy Ring +2 description isn't accurate. It is on a ledge, but it's nowhere near a bridge that you have to cross. It should say "Drop down to a ledge to the left of the first Crow Mage in Road of Sacrifices"

Do we need to keep all of the rings in our inventory for this to actually unlock upon picking up the last one or can we put rings that we never use into the storage box?
0
0
By Mr Fiddler on 29 Jan 2017 17:58
Storage box is definitely fine.

I'm fairly certain that you don't even have have them all at once- that simply possessing them at any point satisfies the requirement. Not worth the risk of selling or dropping crap you'll never use though since you can just dump them into the storage box.

Have you tried setting your console region to JP as you play? Maybe that would connect you to more Japanese players. Also another problem I will have is having to wait for people to level up enough to invade or summon me when the game is released globally.

So here is my situation : I have all the rings and no chiev. I tried to buy the Life Ring (because it was my burrial gift) still nothing. But before having them all I gave some to a friend to unlock his chiev ... I know it's a bit twisted but because FS prevented the possibility to give so else covenant items, is it possible that those rings won't work for me because it unlocked the chiev for so else ??

Does anyone know if hopefully I can get it again in a 2nd play through from the vendor. Irnia is a firemaiden in this first one and doesn't sell me anything but will "Level Up" and "Talk"

I created a Google Sheet that lists all the rings and how to get them. You can go to file and copy the sheet so you can keep track of what rings you need.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18qUft3HNONdaW7nQJJ5W...

This also includes the other collection achievements.

At the bottom of the page you can select the different pages.

Using the paint can you can black out the box for acquired which makes it much easier to see what you have.

If you were using my checklist and everything is checked off but you don't have the achievement it is because i forgot the Lloyd's Shield Ring. I fixed it and i'm very sorry for missing it.

THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION FOR THE ACTUAL ACHIEVEMENT ITSELF

This is a solution if your Master of Rings achievement has glitched. Go to Firelink Shrine and go against a wall or something to where if you drop something you can see it easily. Go to your rings in your inventory and hit "Leave Selected" now select a whole row of Rings and pick them back up rinse and repeat for all the rings and your achievement should unlock it unlocked for me. This happens because the game doesn't register that you have duplicate rings and only registers the original ring so if you sold the original ring it will not register so when you repick them back up it then counts those rings. I'm hoping this resolves the achievement for any of you that has it glitched.

great solution! but i have something important to add: I only had to do this with a single ring... the Young Dragon Ring. I started as a sorcerer and already had this ring in my inventory. I never obtained it the normal way and i had the feeling the game may not register this ring as collected. So i gave it a try and picked this ring to recollect... and boom. achievement unlocked!

I'm glad that this helped you, I started panicking when my achievement didn't unlock and after checking some forums the strategy I explained above worked.

It's usually one ring that is glitched but dropping all the rings and picking them back up will work if you don't know which ring isn't registering.

This trophy requires collecting all 107 rings. This includes all variations, meaning you need all 70 basic rings AND all +1 and +2 versions (one ring has a +3 version, too).

Here is an image of all 107 rings that you need. Note that any that appear more than once have multiple (+1/+2) versions:

External image

The basic versions of each ring can be found in your first playthrough.

Rings can be traded between players, so if you have a friend that has a ring that you're missing and they drop it for you, it will count towards the trophy.

The most long winded task in the game as you need to find all 107 rings, with the +1, +2 and +3 versions only available on NG+ and NG++. You can also only get certain rings by following certain NPC quest and ranking up in certain Covenants. I will try to list these in the order you will get them - but obviously it may vary somewhat depending on how you play the game and what NPC's you assist.

NG Rings

Covetous Silver Serpent Ring - In a chest behind an illusory wall at the top of Firelink Shrine (NEED TO BUY THE TOWER KEY TO ACCESS).

Estus Ring - Found at the bottom of the Tower on the left side of the Firelink Shrine. (NEED TO BUY THE TOWER KEY TO ACCESS).

I compiled my own list of rings, with a description of their effects. It’s convenient to print and cross out what you’ve collected.

I recently collected all the rings, but for some reason the trophy did not fall out. I started looking for information on the Internet, and it turned out that this is a very rare bug and there are people who have the same problem. The solution turned out to be quite simple: I simply threw all the rings on the ground and started picking them up, the trophy fell out in the middle.

On bourgeois forums they write that the trophy sometimes fails.
In this case, you need to throw the rings to the ground and pick them up, but you need to do this as follows:
- throw off 15 rings, then pick them up
- throw off the next 15 rings, then pick up...
and so on until you receive the trophy.
You can no longer fold, as you risk losing all the rings.
The fact is that only the last 30 remain on earth.
In this regard, everything needs to be done in stages.

In the Old King's Hallway location there is a ring with a motley stone, it is located behind a wall that can be broken by a huge crossbow. If you turned off the crossbow, it doesn’t matter, you can turn it on again

You can get rings from a friend! This manipulation shortens the game to one playthrough!

Correction to lenka2x2's hint: You can be a member of the "Fingers of Rosaria" covenant. You cannot be in it at the time of the conversation with Sirris, and under no circumstances should you increase the levels of the covenant (give languages to Rosaria) until Sirris completes the quest. Otherwise, she will become hostile and the quest will be failed.
But to get the Cat’s Ring, you don’t have to complete her questline to the end. She gives the ring after the first battle on the bridge (they killed the crocodile, rested by the fire, called for her help, killed the phantom and returned to Firelink). If you don’t need to join the Marauders covenant (you joined earlier or there is no need for it at all), you can forget about her quest after receiving the ring.

All ranks in covenants are farmed offline, I advise you to use things that increase <search for objects>: shield of want, a mimic's head and rings with snakes.

3. "Hawk Ring" - location "Undead Village", kill the giant archer. It's not necessary to kill. You can talk to him and he will help you on the “Temple of the Depths” level. At the end of the game he himself will die and leave the ring.

If there is still a glitch with this trophy, then it can be avoided in advance, without manipulating the placement of rings on the ground in parts: You just need to sit by the fire during the 2nd and 3rd playthroughs and put away the duplicate rings that you accidentally took into the box. This can also be done before taking the last 107th ring. Just put the duplicate rings in a drawer, or sell them to the maid. It is of course safer to carry, because... By chance you can sell the ring you need from the collection, which will add extra passages!

About the Pontiff's Right Eye ring: if you failed to kill the dog-crocodile-gaping dragon on the bridge and it disappeared, don't worry when you get to the lake with the centipedes, look for the Great Heal miracle there. There will be 2 centipedes next to him, kill them and go out and meet this dog. There, as I understand it, it appears constantly, so if you lose it’s not fatal))

!To complete the quest line Siris will have to do everything in strict order, otherwise everything will be interrupted and subsequently the tasks will no longer be available!

!You should also not join the Fingers of the Rosary covenant. Otherwise, Sirris will become an enemy and attack you the next time you meet. And it doesn’t matter whether she gave you an oath or not!

After talking with her in the Temple, bring her the Dreamer's ashes. He is located in the fortress of the Old Wolf Farron (which he accepts into the covenant). Immediately at the stairs (level above the wolf), break the illusory wall and take what you need from the corpse.

Take it to the maid in the Temple, and then talk to Sirris. As a reward, she will give you that same challenge sign - Loyalty to the Dark Moon.

Continue playing and, after defeating the mini-boss on the bridge towards Irithyll, rest by the fire (or re-enter the game). At the other end of this bridge (near the smoky gate) you will find a sign calling Sirris, and she will ask for help.

Fight Creighton the Wanderer and return to the Temple for communication. As a reward you will receive a sword and a Silver Cat Ring.

The next progression of Sirris of the Sunless Lands quests occurs after defeating the three Ash Lords and Aldrik, the Devourer of Gods among them (one of the three, the last one). Your path lies in a small room in front of the boss battle arena, the Cursed Great Tree.

Here, summon Sirris of the Sunless Lands using the summon sign on the ground that appears near the stairs and fight the Righteous Knight Godric. If you have not yet joined the Marauders covenant, then pick up a talisman from Godric’s body, and it will become a symbol of your affiliation with the Marauders.

Return to the Temple and chat, take an oath from her

If a “glitch” occurs and the trophy does not fall out, transfer all the rings to your box, and then take your trophy back

One of the problematic rings in this trophy is probably considered the "Darkmoon Ring" for rank 1 of the dark moon covenant (10 ears). Since you have to farm them from silver knights in Anor Londo, in order to maximize the chance of dropping it is worth: Wear a ring with a golden serpent +2, put a chest (mimic) on your head, hang a crystal rapier from the soul of an expert in crystal enchantments instead of a shield and just leave it on your belt taking the main weapon in both hands, using a coin purchased from Patchwork, all together will give about 400+ chance of finding items, ideally put on a ring with a silver serpent +2 and as soon as 1,000,000 souls accumulate, spend on pumping up luck. It is advisable to do all this offline and in the covenant of the azure path, having removed all curses and dark marks from yourself (if you do not want to make the “usurpation of fire” ending), I speak from my own experience. Also compatible with getting the miracle for (30 ears) "Darkmoon Blade"

Regarding the farming of offerings to the covenant, if you have a partner, you can do it much faster:
1. Set a password for a network game, your partner sets the same one.
2. You put on the banner of the covenant for which you need to farm offerings.
3. Put a red mark.
4. Using it, your partner calls you.
5. He dies and you receive the gift you need.
To make it faster, find a fire next to the abyss (for example, the second fire in an undead settlement), as soon as you appear in your partner’s world, he jumps into the abyss and gives you a gift.
Warning: Does not work with Farron Watchdogs loyal to Aldrik and Blades of the Darkmoon.

The main thing is to have 107 in your inventory.
Works on version 1.08
