How to unlock the Defeat Bed of Chaos achievement in DARK SOULS: REMASTERED - Definitive Guide

This battle takes place in Lost Izalith, which is accessible from the Demon Ruins beyond Quelaag's Domain.

The Bed of Chaos is one of four primary bosses that you must defeat to open the path to the Kiln of the First Flame which leads to Gwyn, the game's final boss. You must first defeat the Ceaseless Discharge to drain the lava so you can access the bulk of the Demon Ruins.

This boss can be defeated with little trouble by using a built-in exploit. It will not become hostile to you until you attack it or until you run to the far end of the area and pick up the Gold Hemmed Black Set on a corpse. Once you do, it will wake up and rip its appendage off, which creates a lava explosion. Wait for this to happen before running as fast as you can back to the fog wall. The boss will follow you and eventually jump towards you and grab the nearby ledge. Simply attack his hand several times and he will fall to his death, resulting in a cutscene that makes the rest of the Demon Ruins accessible.

Lost Izalith can be accessed after defeating both the Demon Firesage and the Centipede Demon in the Demon Ruins OR by joining the Daughter of Chaos covenant and donating 30 Humanity to Quelaag's Sister, which allows you to open a shortcut door to the right of the Demon Firesage's fog wall. Either way you can progress through Lost Izalith to eventually find a fog wall that leads to the Bed of Chaos encounter.

This encounter is unique in that the boss is not a standard type enemy, but instead a large tree-like structure:

Your goal is to destroy the two nodes on the left and the right, which opens a path in the middle that leads through breakable branches to a small insect creature that can be killed with a single attack. The boss will be constantly attacking you with fire attacks and giant swinging branches as you try to move around the arena.

Should you die, you'll have to run pretty far to get back to this boss but if you manage destroy one or both of the side nodes, they stay destroyed so you aren't starting the entire battle over each time. One way to approach this boss is to run to either side and destroy the node, then save/quit, which starts you outside the fog door. Re-enter and destroy the opposite node, then save/quit again. Re-enter the fog doof and make a run down the center to get to the path with the small creature at the end.

An advanced technique (and the way I always do it) involves running to the middle of the area and quickly throwing a firebomb at each node, lining up throws with precision by aiming with a bow. You can then immediately run forward through the central opening to kill the creature inside and avoid all the attacks from the large, main enemy. I had to practice several times (and you only get one try per playthrough) to get comfortable with it.

Start by having your bow equipped and firebombs ready to throw. After you slide down, run straight to the front of the area. Once you get there, press B to hop backwards into the starting position, illustrated HERE. Aim your bow to the left side, putting your crosshair HERE, then unaim and throw a firebomb. If done correctly, it will destroy the node and trigger a cutscene. Quickly aim your bow again and move it to the right side, putting your crosshair HERE. Unaim and throw another firebomb, which should destroy the node and trigger another cutscene. Then simply run/roll forward through the path to the small creature inside.

Once you defeat Bed of Chaos, the achievement will unlock. Good luck!

Really want to stress the time constraint on the firebomb tactic, if you take too long you'll get engulfed in flames and the firebomb cheese won't be viable so ensure you study the video beforehand and memorize the points you need to aim at

I also didn't get the achievement. This is the 3rd boss related achievement I've not been awarded in the last few days...

For those who did not have the achievement: had the same issue with Seath. I closed my game, deleted local data and as soon as i opened the game the achievement popped. I guess you have to do this quickly, and not several days after defeating a boss... or 2nd chance in ng+ or +2...

Same issue with not getting the achievement - both for this boss and Seath. I tried to delete local data after defeating the boss, but did not pop. I did sit at the bonfire before force quitting, so maybe that invalidates the work-around?

Another remark if you have mates to help you with this: managed to kill the boss with 2 other players. Simply get the two players left and right sides, yourself (or the host, whatever) in completely in front of the boss. Player attacks left node, cinematic occurs; player 2 attacks right node, another cinematic. And finally host goes inside the central opening and gets the final blow. Takes a few seconds.

I also didn't get the achievement after killing it.
Tried the delete local save, no luck.
Hope it pops in the second playthrough.
Edit: I just talked with Quelaana to get the last pyromance, and both the "Bond of Pyromancer" and "Defeat bed of chaos" achievements got unlocked 🤷🏻

Once you acquire the Lordvessel you'll be given the task of filling it with the four souls of the great lords of the world so that you can finally challenge the game's final boss. One of these souls is the soul of the Bed of Chaos.

Bed of Chaos is located at the very depths of Lordran in the area Lost Izalith, which is past Demon Ruins. From Queelag's Domain you can easily reach the Demon Ruins early on, but to enter Lost Izalith you'll have to face some very powerful enemies so come prepared.

Going through Demon Ruins you'll first have to face the boss Ceaseless Discharge and when you reach the end of the area with the fog door ahead you'll have two ways to reach the Bed of Chaos boss. You can go straight ahead through the fog doors and defeat first the Demon Firesage boss and then the Centipede Demon to enter Lost Izalith through the lava-filled main entrance. Or, if you are part of the Chaos Servant covenant, you can rank up +2 in it which will enable you to open the stone door at the end of the corridor to your right, before the fog door to Demon Firesage. Doing this will also put you almost at the Bed of Chaos fog door in Lost Izalith, allowing you to skip a pretty annoying part of the area.

Check the bosses and covenants sections for more information on them.

Can cause a lot of pain and suffering by throwing you into the abyss. To reduce this, I strongly recommend starting with the right shield . The point is that after the destruction of the first shield, getting to the second will become very difficult. And they are not equivalent - getting to the right one is much more difficult. If your nerves give out, then you can shoot the shields with a bow while standing right next to the wall - the boss will not reach there.

You can make your life a little easier by destroying one part of the tree and, in order not to run back, go to the main menu. Then we go into the game and voila, the character is standing in front of the fog towards the boss. After the second shield, we do the same, it saves time and nerves (running around an angry tree, which also destroys the floor under your feet, is such a pleasure.
