How to unlock the Knight's Honor achievement in Dark Souls - Definitive Guide

Getting this achievement requires at least two complete playthroughs, and a third whereupon you have to reach the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo.

The following is a list of equipment requiring boss souls. You need to upgrade a weapon to +10. This must be done with Andre, the Undead Parish blacksmith, he is the only blacksmith who can ascend ("Modify Equipment" in the blacksmith menu) weapons to +6. After +10, go to the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo and he can ascend them with the respective boss souls using the weapons listed under each one.

Soul of Sif:
- Greatsword of Artorias
Dagger, Parrying Dagger, Bandit's Knife, Shortsword, Longsword, Bastard Sword, Balder Side Sword, Sunlight Straight Sword, Barbed Straight Sword, Dark Sword, Greatsword, Zweihander, Flamberge, Man-serpant Greatsword, Demon Great Machete, Claymore, Bastard Sword.
- Greatsword of Artorias ("True" version, although they are both identically named in game they count as seperate weapons and have different stats and colouring.)
Broken Straight Sword, Straight Sword Hilt.
- Greatshield of Artorias
Any shield that can be reinforced/ascended to +10.

Soul of the Moonlight Butterfly:
- Moonlight Butterfly Horn
Mail Breaker, Estoc, Rapier, Ricard's Rapier, Spear, Winged Spear, Partizan, Pike.
- Crystal Ring Shield
Any shield that can be reinforced/ascended into +10

Soul of Quelaag:
- Quelaag's Furysword
Scimitar, Falchion, Shotel, Painting Guardian Sword, Murakumo, Server.
- Chaos Blade
Uchigatana, Iaito, Washing Pole.

Core of an Iron Golem:
- Golem Axe
Battle Axe, Butcher Knife, Crescent Axe, Gargoyle Tail Axe, Hand Axe.
- Dragon Bone Fist
Caestus, Claw

Soul of Priscilla:
- Lifehunt Scythe
Great Scythe, Whip, Notched Whip, Halberd, Lucerne, Scythe, Gargoyle's Halberd.

Soul of Ornstein (Must kill Smough first):
- Dragonslayer Spear
Mail Breaker, Estoc, Rapier, Ricard's Rapier, Spear, Winged Spear, Partizan, Pike.

Soul of Smough (Must kill Ornstein first - this means at least two playthroughs for both of their souls!):
- Smough's Hammer
Blacksmith Giant Hammer, Hammer of Vamos, Blacksmith Hammer, Club, Reinforced Club, Mace, Morning Star, Great Club, Large Club.

Soul of Gwyndolin:
- Darkmoon Bow
Shortbow, Longbow, Composite Bow, Black Bow of Pharis
- Tin Darkmoon Catalyst
Sorcerer's Catalyst, Beatrice's Catalyst, Tin Banishment Catalyst, Logan's Catalyst, Oolacile Ivory Catalyst.

Soul of Gwyn, Lord of Cinder:
- Great Lord Greatsword
Dagger, Parrying Dagger, Bandit's Knife, Shortsword, Longsword, Bastard Sword, Balder Side Sword, Sunlight Straight Sword, Barbed Straight Sword, Dark Sword, Greatsword, Zweihander, Flamberge, Man-serpant Greatsword, Demon Great Machete, Claymore, Bastard Sword.
____________________________________________________________

The following list requires tails to be cut off of the respective bosses. These are a one time chance (the exception being the gargoyles, two more will appear at Anor Londo but they do not respawn) so make sure you cut the tail off before you kill the boss! If you find the boss is about to die quit and reload your game.

Hellkite Drake:
- Drake Sword
Gaping Dragon:
- Dragon King Greataxe
Everlasting Dragon:
- Dragon Greatsword
Crossbreed Priscilla:
- Priscilla's Dagger (Attack her tail first! She gives you a free hit, cast Great Chaos Fireball on it if you use pyromancy - it will most likely come off straight away if you do)
Seath the Scaleless:
- Moonlight Greatsword (a useful tip is to run to Seath's crystal and wait for him to ready his attack and get out of the way. He'll break his own crystal and be stunned for a long time.)
____________________________________________________________

The following weapons are obtained from joining the respective covenants.

Gravelord Servant:
- Gravelord Sword
Darkwraith:
- Dark Hand
As of patch 1.05, Dark Wraith enemies in the New Londo Ruins also have a chance of dropping the Dark Hand.
____________________________________________________________

The rest of these weapons are obtained from enemy, phantom and boss drops.

- Black Knight Sword
- Black Knight Greatsword
- Black Knight Greataxe
- Black Knight Halberd
- Black Knight Shield
All Black Knight weapons are dropped from their respective Black Knights. If you miss any, there are respawnable ones in the Kiln of the First Flame

- Channeler's Trident
Dropped by the Six-Eyed Channelers. Non-respawning ones appear in the second floor of the undead church and the depths. There are 3 respawning ones in the Duke's Archives.

- Crescent Axe
Sold by Patches for 10,000 souls but can also be dropped by Patches upon killing him.

- Crest Shield
Dropped by Knight of Astora, Oscar upon your return to the Northern Undead Asylum. Encounter him in the same place as you did last time (he is the knight that gave you the Estus Flask).

- Silver Knight Straight Sword
- Silver Knight Spear
- Silver Knight Shield
Just like Black Knights, the weapons drop from their respective Silver Knights. They all respawn in Anor Londo.

- Stone Greatsword
- Stone Greatshield
Dropped by the Stone Guardians in the Darkroot Garden. Stone Greatsword can also be bought from Shiva of the East.

- Giant's Halberd
- Giant Shield
Bought from the Giant Blacksmith or dropped by the giant sentinel enemies in Anor Londo.

- Grant
- Sanctus
This weapon and shield are dropped by Paladin Leeroy, an NPC phantom invader in the Tomb of the Giants. He appears outside the entrance of Nito's cave, where you can see Ash Lake (Big hole showing a lake and giant archtrees). You must be human. Try not to let him fall off the cliff and lure him into the cave a bit where the crystal lizard is.

- Astora's Straight Sword
Picked up in the Valley of the Drakes, in front of the dragon corpse.

- Dragon Crest Shield
Same place as the Astora's Straight Sword.

- Dragonslayer Greatbow
Picked up in Anor Londo. On the upper floor of the cathedral (the large hall with the two Giant Knights and a Black Knight archer) there should be a broken section of the stained glass. Fall through and you'll end up in an area with a corpse containing the bow and some arrows.

- Dragon Tooth
- Havel's Greatshield
Found in chests in Anor Londo. Located behind an illusory wall disguised as a fireplace. The rest of Havel's gear can be found in the same room. Be careful, one of the chests is a Mimic.

- Bloodshield
Found on a corpse in the Painted World of Ariamis. On the bridge occupied by the undead dragon. You can either grab it and run back before the dragon reaches you, or kill it and grab the shield afterwards.

- Effigy Shield
Found in Tomb of the Giants. Located at the end of a narrow walkway, through an arch and guarded by a Black Knight. You'll be able to see it from afar. Be careful not to fall off the side!

- Black Iron Greatshield
Found in Anor Londo with the rest of the Black Iron set. In the huge room with the chandelier and entrance to the Painted World of Ariamis.

- Velka's Rapier
Found in the Painted World of Ariamis. After opening up the annex using the Annex Key, there is a shoddy looking barrier made of wood. Hit it with any weapon and it will break, leading to a corpse containing this weapon.

- Izalith Catalyst
Dropped by a pyromancer chaos witch in Lost Izalith. She appears right before the white fog leading to the boss. This is the same place that Kirk, Knight of Thorns will invade you.

- Demon's Catalyst
Dropped by the Demon Firesage in the Demon Ruins.

It is commonly cited that you need the Ghost Blade and the Jagged Ghost Blade dropped by the New Londo ghosts and Titanite Catch Pole for this achievement. You do NOT. The achievement will unlock with these weapons absent from your inventory.

Credit to gamertags Xelliz1, Illuminatus V, SEEGAAAA, Valeefor, Caxton8, MOPHREAK and FlaminG FrosT for polishing/correcting this list a bit.

Can this be done across multiple characters?

This must be done on one character.

I have no idea what the wall of text above me is referring to or its purpose.

Just a small note; the Dark Hand is also a drop from the Dark Wraiths in New Londo. You don't have to join the Covenant to obtain it

This has been my sole checklist for this achievement, thanks a bunch Pyroskank! According to this, all I need now is the shield from Sif, the bow from Gwyndolin, Seath's sword, and Velka's rapier! I've been quite lucky with drops and such methinks.

I'd like to add, following this list i did not get my achievement, I won't rate negative however as the list has been 99% accurate, i would like to suggest an addition, I purchased a "Giant's Halberd from the Giant blacksmith (5000souls) and then my achievement popped. Hope this helps.

Try the Giant Blacksmith and purchse the Giant's Halberd and Giant's Shield, these may also be needed items.

Just to make sure Im following this right....Creating the rare boss soul weapons wont require additional slab farming? At most Ill just need regular and large shards? And the additional playthroughs are because, for example, I need to create 2 weapons with Moonlight Butterfly's soul...but you only get one soul drop per playthough? Right?
0
0
By DankSoundwave on 09 Feb 2012 17:18
Yep that's correct. You don't need any slabs for this achievement, but you DO need two slabs each for the max upgrade of each weapon tree achievement - but don't fret, there is a guaranteed slab for each playthrough so you'll get that along with this achievement if you pick them up.

By Pyroskank on 10 Feb 2012 05:19
Also just remember it's two and a half playthroughs - you need Sif's soul three times so you gotta reach the Anor Londo blacksmith a third time. It's a pain in the ass but at least you don't have to fight Ornstein and Smough in NG++

0
By Caxton8 on 11 Feb 2012 00:23
Just kill the ghosts in Anor Londo. The male ghosts are the far more common one and they drop the Jagged Ghost Blade. There are only about 3 female ghosts IIRC and you can immediately tell which ones they are because they scream and shoot lightning.

By AkkonShinigami on 05 Mar 2012 06:46
A lot of people have managed to get the achievement without the Titanite Catch Pole and the two Ghost Blades. Those aren't the only inaccuracies but they are weapons the guide claims you need that you don't.

However, Future Press are probably the best strategy guide publishers right now so don't let that turn you off their stuff!

humanity increases your discovery, it caps at ten humanity.

if you have the symbol of avarice helmet dropped by mimics that also greatly increases it

Also, dunno if this was mentioned, but I think if players will combine rare weapons/shields (that could only be acquired once per playthrough) with boss souls that means old rare weapon/shield is gone! I just reinforced Bloodshield to +10 (which is a rare shield) with Sif's souls and I got Greatshield of Artorias. I had to play another playthrough to get the Bloodshield.

I can confirm that traded weapons CAN count toward this achievement. The weapon I received was Moonlight Greatsword. Not sure if it makes a difference but the player who dropped it was an invader summoned through a red soapstone and I was the host. Also, I did not have the Moonlight Greatsword in my inventory when the achievement popped, as I had given it back right after picking it up.

It doesn't matter whether if it's an invader or Co op phantom, as long as you pick up the weapon, it'll count

For all germans
- Black Knight Sword = Black Knight Greatsword (Schwarzer Ritter Großschwert)
- Black Knight Greatsword = Dragonsword (Drachenschwert)

get both from the Black Knights be4 the endboss.

Weird, I've seen 3 different lists now, of weapons you need.

Some have extras, others don't have what this guides has. Luckily, I got the weapons this guide adds, that the guide for the PC version doesn't list already. Just need 3 more Boss Soul weapons, and I should be good.

This is definitely the most accurate list of weapons needed but just to clarify for anyone may have only recently picked up Dark Souls from games with gold like myself:

You do NOT need all weapons in your inventory at the same time. Feeding weapons to Frampt, using them for a boss soul weapon or just simply dropping the weapon has no effect on the achievement. Once the weapon has been added to your inventory once, that weapon can be checked off the list.

Any takers (contact me plz)? :-P lol

This guide was a great help for this achievement and I wish I could upvote it more than once. Weirdly enough the achievement popped for me with just the true version of Artorias Greatsword and not the cursed version , I still made the cursed version after but it was not required for me to pop the achievement as it popped when I made Gwyn's greatsword

Great guide, very helpful. It popped when I picked up the Silver Knight shield. You don't need to upgrade the catalyst in order to make the boss weapon, you just need the boss soul and a standard catalyst.

His armor appeared in Nitos cave as it should, but no weapons. I cleared the tomb again after warping back to Firelink and still nothing.

As for Priscilla, be cautious of her low health. She does lose her invisibility at some point (though I'm not sure if the factor is time passed or hits taken), so I recommend switching to fists or a low-damage weapon until that happens. The price you have to pay if you fail your task is a harsh one.

We were two who both hurled chaos bolts at the tail at the same time, but it didn't come off. Had to resort to good old steel instead. Might want to use faster weapons - like the Uchigatana (<3) - so you always make sure the hits land directly on her tail.

This list seems to be the one that the most people I've seen have agreed on, and I had the same issue as dtoso; went looking for the Trident with 410 item discovery, 7 hours later those Channeler pricks still hadn't dropped a single one. Managed to be summoned by someone who traded me the trident last night, but the achievement still did not pop. I have every weapon on this list and everything I can think of that isn't on it, not a clue what I'm missing.

I managed to get the achievement without ever cutting off Priscilla's tail myself. I did fight Priscilla in coop where the other guy managed to cut off her tail (I was a phantom in the host's world and thus did not receive the dagger), and a buddy of mine traded me the dagger as well. So, no idea whether it is being in a game where the tail is cut off, or just having it in your inventory that is the important factor, but you do not necessarily have to do it yourself apparently...
Excellent guide by the way, thumbs up from me!

Might be worth adding that you are not required to obtain these weapons by yourself - all weapons as far as I am aware of can be traded to you by summons. Confirmed this a few days ago. Especially useful if you and your friends all need the Channeler's Trident. That one was a pain to get.

A nice route for Channeler hunting:
- From the bonfire in Archives closest to the Ice Cave, head to the hidden library section to the right and up the ladder (get used to getting shot). From there, head mid-way up the staircase and turn it around. Head up to third floor for one of the pesky mages, then down to second for another. Ignore the third. Instead, turn the staircase back around, head down the ladder, reset, and repeat. If you're fast enough before the mages teleport away, you'll be looking at minimal time consuming with not a single trash monster to kill.

Having listened to a male character getting shot twice per run for about half an hour I have come to the conclusion that he enjoys it, as disturbing as it is.

*Update* So I now only need Greatsword Of Artorias (Cursed), Dragonslayer Spear and Gwyn's Greatsword. If anyone has these or the respective boss souls, I'd be willing to trade anything you may need. Soul level 119. Message me on xbox if interested

Yet they are considered to be Weapons, Catalysts do not require modification or upgrading - thus they can not even be modified or upgraded. This is why you are able to transform any into a Tin Darkmoon Catalyst right away, if you match the other two requirements only, when attempting to Modify Equipment with the aid of the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo. Shields are considered to be Weapons in Dark Souls, and are treated in the exact way for modification and upgrading, like general weapons. Now in order to do the preparatory work before creating any non-Catalyst Rare Weapon that requires a Boss Soul, one of the eligible Weapons need to be modified only once to enable further upgrading on it from +6 level up to +10 level - further modification after +10 level is a waste of resources, when creating a Rare Weapon that requires a Boss Soul - lastly always modify eligible +10 level Weapons into their corresponding Rare Weapons. Acquire all Rare Weapons by own effort in order to unlock this Achievement - it may be even unimportant if you possess them all simultaneously, if what counts is that their tasks to acquire them have had to be completed. Regardless to this philosophy, you shall aim to collect them all for having all Rare Weapons in your possession simultaneously - acquiring any Rare Weapons from other gamers over cooperative Xbox LIVE play is not advised - since then you can get confused about which Rare Weapons you have personally acquired by fulfilling their corresponding tasks - unless you make notes.

Thanks for the list! I'm not 100% sure, but the Notched Whip and the Gargoyle Tail Axe are NOT required. Anyway, it's really easy to get both (but missable).

One thing I noticed, not all the items need to be in your inventory to get the achievement. Case in point, I had (at one point) the Gravelord Sword, Effigy Sheild and Dragon Bone fist in my collection, but when the achievement popped all 3 were absent from being given to other players. So I can't speak to it too much, but the items on the lists are mostly correct, but they do not all need to be held at once. It would seem once you aquire them you can sell them off or whatever and the game will retain a mental image of the weapon on your list.

The following is a comprehensive list of all rare weapons required for the achievement, broken down into sections. This list is courtesy of the official Dark Souls Wiki page. Also listed at the end are weapons which are often mistakenly included but are not needed for the achievement.

Getting this trophy requires at least two complete playthroughs, and a third whereupon you have to reach the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo.

Credit to trueachievements gamertags Xelliz1, Illuminatus V, SEEGAAAA, Valeefor, Caxton8, MOPHREAK and FlaminG FrosT for polishing/correcting this list a bit.

There are plenty of lists and guides for this achievement, however I did not see any mention this.

If you have a friend who already has this achievement, or has a few weapons you do not have, as long as they are within a certain level range within yours (I believe it's within 10-20 levels between each other. Basically as long as you can join their game) they can drop the missing weapons and you should get the achievement. My friend dropped me a few weapons from his playthrough I some how missed and it still counted fo rmy achievement .

The Channeler's Trident took me literally 15 hours to farm because the drop rate is so low, so if you can, I would find someone online who has it to drop it for you.

To unlock this trophy you are required to hold, at the same time, all of the considered 'rare' weapons of the game. This includes all the weapons forged with bosses souls, all of the weapons acquired by cutting the tail of specific bosses and other ones. Shields included in these also count for the trophy. Note that not all weapons that use Twinkling Titanites to upgrade are required for the trophy.

This is the trophy that will require you to play the game at least two full times and a half, solely because one of the bosses soul (Great Grey Wolf Sif's) is required to forge three different weapons.

You can achieve this trophy by getting all weapons through multiple characters' games.
For the Knights Honor trophy, it says you can get the weapons on any amount of characters. I got every weapon amongst my 4 characters and it didn't unlock, so I went and researched about it and it seems to be a glitch. You're supposed to get all weapons on a single character to get the trophy, but sometimes it will glitch and allow you to get them amongst any characters. Thanks [PS3T]kira!

Below is a list of everything required for this trophy along with the information on how to obtain it. Big thanks to Blood_Runs_Cold for compiling most of the information in here!

If you want, you can use the printable checklist from HERE made by Birr1978 to help you keep track of what you have.

Due to the sheer size of this walkthrough, please read it on the forums: LINK
