How to unlock the Grease Monkey achievement in Dark Void - Definitive Guide

NOTE: Check out Molly2006's solution for this achievement. He/She has a way around the glitch if you were unfortunate to get this glitch. Please give him/her (sorry, dunno if you're male of female hehe) a thumb up for posting their solution! Thanks to L0Straniero91 for bringing this to my attention. We write solutions to make it easier for others to acquire achievements and HOPEFULLY this will save some peeps a few headaches. Good luck and thank you Molly2006 and L0Straniero91!

Thanks for everyone's diligence in compiling info to help prevent others from getting this nasty, evil glitch. There's a lot of info in ALL solutions as well as comments in those solutions. I know it's a major pain, but do yourself a favor and read through them thoroughly (before starting the game preferably.) It may save you a major headache.

First let me ask that if you post a new solution on how you got around the glitch or just simply wanna post what worked for you, please send me a PM so I can tell people to go look at your solution for a possible remedy. I don't have the time to come back and check this solution all the time to see if anything new has been posted. So pleasepleaseplease let me know so I can direct some peeps to head your way and check your solution from this solution since mine is the one always exposed for now. It will get your solution more exposure and that's what we want.

I am trying to compile all the info I can about this glitch in my solution. So if you want info on the actual achievement, then scroll down to where it says, ***SOLUTION BEGINNING***. I want this info to be easily accessible and I don't want people to have to sift through pages upon pages of comments just to find something. So I am putting it all down in my solution and at the top of the page.

If you want to write your own solution on what has worked for you, then please do so. I will tell people in my solution to go check out yours as a possible fix for this aggravating glitch. We just need to get the info out there for people to see, it doesn't matter whose info it is, we just want to help each other out

Here's another update from AgileDuke. Maybe if you follow the steps he did you can avoid the headache many of us have gotten from this achievement:

"After reading this solution thread I was very worried, I decided to play through until chapter 2 part 4 without doing any upgrades at all. I did this on hardcore and it wasn't so bad. I grinder out the points for the upgrades and then purchased all upgrades from the upgrade box after the level starts. I did this while online and it popped as soon as I upgraded the jetpack."

Got another update for the solution. This one comes from STARWARZ and he received a reply directly from CAPCOM. CAPCOM goes into detail on what *might* remedy the problem:.

STARWARZ wrote:

"I actually did get a reply. Here it is in full:

We are sorry to hear you are frustrated over this particular issue. Unfortunately there are no current plans to release a patch or update to the title, as the parties involved have moved on to other various projects. We have contacted multiple people who have worked on Dark Void, and even though there is not a true solution, we were provided a workaround to help with your inquiry. Again, we know it's not optimal, but it was the best we could for your inquiry, and about a franchise that does not have planned future support.

The only way to prevent this glitch from happening is to make your last upgrade at an in-game upgrade bench, as opposed to doing so at the pre-game mission upgrade screen. Unfortunately if you have encountered the glitch already, you will have to restart to try and unlock again. The absolute best level to grind for orbs would be Episode 2 Mission 4 by killing all the UFO's in the turrets placed around the level and once they're all destroyed, reload the level and do it again. We say it takes about an hour or so to get enough orbs you need to upgrade all weapons to receive the achievement. We hope this helps you in your endeavor, and we thank you for contacting Capcom Customer Support.

I was going to post this as a "solution" here but it's not really a solution... at least one that's not mentioned already. It would probably just get voted down. If enough people want it posted as a solution so it appears on the main page, PM me and I'll post it there.

In short - this will never be patched. I guess I'm gonna have to replay the whole game and grind again... one day... maybe..."

Again: Check out Molly2006's solution for this achievement.

***SOLUTION BEGINNING***

I don't have this achievement yet and likely won't for some time, but I have finished the game and figured I'd pass on some info.

The total amount of Tech Points (currency in Dark Void) I found on a Hardcore Mode run was around 50k. The total cost I have left to upgrade weapons + jetpack is about 90k (I'm not sure if your jetpack has to be upgraded to get this achievement or not; if not then I have 75k left).

So this achievement will take some grinding. I have found a nice spot to farm credits and figured I'd share it with people.

Episode II, Chapter IV - Breaking Camp.

Go to the episode select after you select "Play Game." Select "Episode II" and then "Chapter 4 - Breaking Camp." Select Casual difficulty, skip the cutscene and jump into one of the Ark's AA guns. Shoot down all the UFOs and Knights for 100 tech Points per kill. You don't even have to chase them down as the red balls o' Tech Points will automatically come to you.

Once you finish them all off, a Watcher dropship will drop off ground forces. If you don't have https://www.trueachievements.com/a41533/bird-of-prey-ac....htm yet, fly through the camp and waste the ground forces (took me running this chapter twice to get this achievement). If you do have the achievement, drop to the ground and waste everything to speed up the process. There will be two or three dropships then the next part will start).

Now, Tesla will tell you to go to his work shop. Don't go. Instead, head to the Ark's AA guns again and shoot down all the UFOs again. There will be more this time.

By doing this, I made 6k in less than 10 minutes. Remember to set to Casual and to skip cutscenes. I play this chapter until I shoot the docking clamps with my jetpack's guns (or you can use AA guns for all except one I think - you may be able to reach the last one if you switch AA guns). The reason why is because this is where the next checkpoint is (though I don't think waiting to a checkpoint is necessary to retain your Tech Points).

Good luck and feel free to post other good Tech Point farming spots.

***SOLUTION END***

EDIT: Grimmr74 has confirmed you have to upgrade the jetpack as well. I can't tell because this stupid achievement just glitched on me...

EDIT #2: More info on tech points and what may be the glitch problem by The Nerevarine:

"I'd note that you can quit at any time and it will save your tech points, you don't need to get to a checkpoint.. I just killed the UFOs and before even leaving the AA gun would just restart the chapter.

I got the achievement fine. I only applied one upgrade before having 120k in points to do them all at once. It made the campaign a little harder but I got the achievement, and this may have had an effect. Note that the gun unlocks store on your gamertag, so the problem with the glitch is likely a result of networking, or perhaps has something to do with where your gamertag is stored locally. I'd be curious to know if the people with the achievement glitch had their game save and gamertag on different devices or something."

EDIT #3: Here's some useful info about the glitch from PeetalusX.

"I just got the glitch.
Upgraded last upgrade through in game storage box.
Most of my upgrades were done on the pre-mission screen.
My GamerTag was on a memory disk.
And like others say, it's locked to your gamertag, so it's impossible to delete your progress and start again.

I recommend anyone caught by this glitch go here:
http://www.facebook.com/DarkVoidGame
Make a post on their wall asking for the fix to this glitch. They appear to be reading their posts, so it's a good plan to swamp them with as many requests as possible."

EDIT #4: Here's something else to try if this achievement has glitched on you. Thanks to L0Straniero91 for letting us know about it! BTW, if anyone gets any of these to work, please let us know so I can post it int the solution and we can save some peeps a headache. Thanks!

"I have this game on PS3 and if you glitch the trophy you can just delete the "PROFILE DATA" from the save game utility. Though the Xbox 360 version keeps this save inside your gamertag so it can't be deleted. But for those who glitched this one should try the USB method that is working for a lot of games including Army of Two: TFD and Sniper: Ghost Warrior. It's worth a try..."

EDIT #5: Just got a PM from Nuffzx who has confirmed that this glitch can be obtained by using the Army of Two method. I'm about to go to work, but I'll research on how to do this exactly and post it in the solution. More confirmation on this would be very nice, so let us know!

EDIT #6: Here's another possible solution for this glitch from Case Dang It:

"I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here, I just got the achievement and I did a lot of the stuff you're not supposed to do, mixed with things that may work. When I got the game and started it a year ago, I upgraded a gun right off the bat to get the achievement. After reading that upgrading can suck I never upgraded again....until I got 90K, which for some reason, I mixed up things I read and thought that's how many points ya need to upgrade everything. Derr, it's really around 140-150K, but whatever. So I went on my happy upgrade spree and ran out of points, and then had a few guns left that I only halfway upgraded. So I got irked and went another few weeks without touching the game. ANYWAY, so finally a few days ago I decided to sit down and grind out the rest of the points, but for some reason or another I had cleared the system cache days prior to doing this, so when this game asked me if I wanted to update, I declined it and played offline throughout the rest of my grinding tenure. Minus my first upgrade being on the first level in some weapons crate, I did all the rest of my upgrading from the same weapons crate at the beginning of Breaking Camp. Upon my last upgrade, on a weapon that I had at a level 2 for a while it popped and I leapt up in the air while yelling profanities and waking my girlfriend. Um, I would have this game complete now (minus DLC) except the game DID glitch on another achievement, Ultimate Bad Ass. I beat the game on hard and never got this. So to summarize, I upgraded things at random times, I played online, but played off during my final upgrades. I only used the crates to upgrade from. Even over the course of the last year I had moved my Gamertag to a memory card and at some point, back to the xbox harddrive."

If peeps are still having issues, try out this method from the start and it may save you a huge headache.

EDIT #sideways8: I just moved the info about Molly's solution to the top to make sure peeps see it as it is very important info. Be sure to thumb up Molly2006 please. Thank you.

i can confirm that you do need to upgrade the jetpack and if you run breaking camp to perfection, i netted 9,700 each time exactly, that included the two of the three archones for 500 points each. you cant get the third because the cutscene starts as soon as the third explodes

9700, nice. How long did it take? I just did a bunch of runs up to the point where you have have to use the energy weapon to charge the node on the side of the Ark. Once done, I just hit restar level. Takes 10 minutes per run.

I just finished Dark Void. I upgraded all my weapons and then my jetpack and my achievement didn't pop... I read another thread on another site where people are having the same issues. So looks like I'll be stuck at 970/1000 forever because I'm definitely not playing this piece of junk again lol. Hopefully I can find a fix to it.

Thanks for the verification on the jetpack.

I just finished upgrading all the weapons which took me like all day and I was pretty mad to find out that I didnt get the achievement so to any players out there trying to get the achievement I recommend that you dont try, its a total waste of time.

Apparently the achievement glitches if you buy your final upgrade from the pre-mission loadout screen. You have to buy the final one from a weapon's locker during a mission.

I also upgraded the final weapon I needed and i didn't get the achievement, maybe it's the weapon itself? The final weapon I upgraded was the gravity one (I totally forgot the name of it) maybe there's a pattern?

Count me as another that the achievement glitched on. Upgraded my last two guns at the same time (last one was the sniper rifle) on EP. II Ch. IV.

As far as where my game is saved, it's saved on my HDD as is my gamertag. Is that what you're wondering? All this networking talk is over me head hehe.

I don't think it matters. From what I've read, people have gotten the glitch regardless of how they upgraded their weapons. I haven't heard of anyone nailing down exactly what causes the glitch. Good luck to you though.

I've actually had a similar problem in a game once, and in order to fix it, I had to recover my account and do the pre-requisites to get the achievement again. Tedious I know, but i'll see if I can get the game to glitch so that I can test my theory. If I can get it to happen, I will let you all know how it all works out...

This is a really frustrating glitch. I wrote in to crapcom but I doubt I'll get a reply. If they do, I'll let you know. I posted on their Facebook as well. I put time into the game and grinded it to get all those tech points and then, nothing. I really don't feel like grinding it all out again. Ah well...

Also - I forgot to ask...

Do you get less tech points per orb if you play on a low (casual) difficulty? I'd rather not get stressed out if I have to replay this game again. But if you get more playing on Hardcore, it might be worth it. thanks.

If anyone can answer my question about the DV orbs on different difficulties, please let me know. I might try again some time. Thanks all!

I give up. I hate this game and won't buy anything Capcom again.

After reading this solution thread I was very worried, I decided to play through until chapter 2 part 4 without doing any upgrades at all. I did this on hardcore and it wasn't so bad. I grinder out the points for the upgrades and then purchased all upgrades from the upgrade box after the level starts. I did this while online and it popped as soon as I upgraded the jetpack.

I'm not sure if anyone will read this, but here's how I unlocked this - I played through the whole game without buying any upgrades. I then replayed "Breaking Camp" over and over until I had enough points to upgrade everything at once. For the record, the exact total needed is 141,600 tech points.

Once I had enough, I then loaded back into the level, and upgraded everything to max level, one by one, using the in game weapon upgrade box. As soon as I bought my first upgrade, I got the first achievement, and as soon as I bought the last one, I unlocked this achievement.

Having done this on PS3 I had a plan of what to do with the 360 version and it worked fine.

Started game for the first time, Casual difficulty. Played until mission 2-4 then played it until I had 149k tech points (repeating - AA gun kills, pause, quit to menu, continue game).

With 149k I picked up the last weapon (mission objective) then upgraded everything at once at the nearby locker. Achievements unlocked.

I played online the whole time.

I can't say for sure this method will work for everyone but it worked for me.

Unsuprisingly, this achievement is still glitching, along with a few others.
The USB method didn't work for me to reset my stats so, i installed the game on my XBone.
Once i was logged into the XBone ,i disconnected my network connection, ran dark void on the XB360 Virtual Machine. My stats were showing zero achivements for this game. So rather than risk going back online, I played through the game offline up to EP2part4. I followed PRlSTlNE's method, of closing out of the weapsons locker/upgrade screen after a single upgrade. Got my glitched achievements offline, played through to a checkpoint, then reconnected my net connection and signed back in to xbox live on the 360VM. Sure enough - i'm showing the glitched achievments. So, i'm guessing if you have another console, that you have previously signed into prior to playing DV, you might get lucky like me.

Anyway the last solution about the achievement has the solution how to unglitch Grease Monkey, if you follow those steps you can reset your game data and re-start grinding for that achievement.
Won't post here cos it's very long. Ask to Molloy to use his guide and copy and paste the solution, as it will help a lot of unlucky people. :D

I don't remember if difficulty effects the amount of orbs or not. I've long since destroyed this game and I've no way to test it out.

I can post your comment in my solution and credit you if you want. That way people will see it and it won't get hidden behind all the other solutions. If that's cool with you, let me know.

Or you can post it as a solution and I'll direct people to see check your solution out at the top of my solution. It may get some exposure that way. I don't care about getting votes or having the top solution, my goal is to help people out. Especially with this particular achievement.

Lemme know what you wanna do and I'll get to it. Thanks for coming back to let us know!

I did basically everything that supposedly triggers the glitch. I upgraded the jet pack from the main menu, upgraded 3 different weapons fully, out of order from which i received them, all on my first play through using separate boxes/main menu, i did this online and on my first try. The one thing i DID do... is purchased an upgrade and back-out each and every time, NEVER purchasing 2 upgrades at once.

Notice that AFTER you upgrade a weapon and close out of the box, you have to wait through a loading screen. I imagine that this loading screen counts each upgrade, and bye purchasing multiple upgrades at once, it still ticks it off as 1.

So bye doing this you come up short, i noticed a comment above where someone was saying that this method also worked for them, but they only had one previous upgrade.

I had about 50,000 worth of upgrades, before i even knew about this glitch. Again... bought from the main menu and separate boxes, only purchasing ONE AT A TIME.

So i'd say i busted quite a few of the myths, and I'm more than positive this is what triggers the glitch.

Feel free to include it in your solution, or I'll make my own if you think i should.

I guess I'm gonna have to replay the whole game and grind again... one day... maybe...

Even over the course of the last year I had moved my Gamertag to a memory card and at some point, back to the xbox harddrive.

I bought my final upgrade from a weapons locker. In fact, I didn't upgrade anything from the load out screen. I don't upgrade any thing in any game unless I know what items/weapons will be the most useful and I always try to make it through a game with the bare minimum. I don't even allot stat points until I actually need them in games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age hehe.

I was playing Ep. 2, Chapt. 4 grinding out some tech points and as soon as I hit 15k, I went to the weapons locker in the camp and purchased the final jet pack upgrade which was my final over all upgrade.

I did upgrade weapons that came in later episodes and chapters in the same spot. I am wondering if it didn't register that I upgraded them since I didn't follow the natural order of the game. Silent Hill: Homecoming had some puzzle glitches that did this. While there were no achievement glitches, if you did the puzzles in your home in SH in an order that Konami didn't expect or you saved between collecting certain key items for those puzzles, the puzzle items would be invisible in your inventory and you had no idea what pieces you had.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure the way you've pointed out is one way to glitch the achievement, but I don't think it's the only way. The more info we gather, the more people we can help avoid this BS.

I actually did get a reply. Here it is in full:

***

I guess I'm gonna have to replay the whole game and grind again... one day... maybe...

THIS IS A FIX FOR THE VERY GLITCHY GREASE MONKEY ACHIEVEMENT OR ANY OTHER DARK VOID ACHIEVEMENT.

If this glitched on you, this is the only current way to have ANOTHER ATTEMPT at unlocking the achievement. (You may be cursed and have it glitch a second time, which in that case just repeat this solution)

I am not taking any credit for the actual resetting method, but I applied it to dark void and got it to work, and subsequentially got me the grease monkey achievement.

The orignal method was applied to command and conquer 3, but became more wildly known when it was applied to army of two: 40th day DLC (see link for source).

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30...

What the method does is, it forces the game into rewriting any info stored on your profile for a particular game, so it basically puts the game back to the first time you played it (i.e no levels completed, no upgrades, no journals, no kills etc etc)

The way i applied the method was:

1) Put your profile on a usb or memory stick. I personally had deleted my dark voids saves in attempt to unglitch grease monkey orignally, so i had no saves to worry about.

2)Clear System cache ( google it if you are unsure)

3) Start Dark void, decline the update, and on the CAPCOM screen pull out ur usb.

4) You will now have a msg to insert usb, ignore it. Go to the main menu and check if u have any journals etc. If you have nothing the reset has worked.

5) Insert you memory card, and start a new game ( this should be your only option if it has worked) once your in the game, just save it and back out.*

*Please note, that if your game keeps crashing at the chapter 1 screen, the next time you try it just go into the options on the main menu and change the difficulty. This will force a save, achieving the same thing as starting a new game. From my own experience, it crashed on my old arcade box, loaded fine on my slim.

6) You are now safe to reboot the game and accept the update to play the game online.

I then had to replay the most of the game, but fortunately, on 2-4 ( the level you grind (see guides above)) you get the last weapon you need to upgrade, so you fortunately dont need to go any further! Once I had grinded 142k+ I just applied the method posted by Radiant Viper.

Hope this helps, and again I dont take any credit for the actual usb trick method! I am so happy to finally have 1k in this game!

Please leave a comment if you are gonna vote negative, I had this achievement glitched for over a year before this method was found, and I know I am not the only person to be in that situation.

I wish I could give you a positive vote, very nice to see that there is a fix for this and I appreciate you putting it up here. Do you mind if I put a note at the top of my solution, basically saying "Check this solution below for how to fix it"? Just wanna make sure as many as possible who have this glitched may see it.

**Note: Check Molloy2006's solution below on how to UNGLITCH the achievement if it's glitched on you. Then you can apply my solution when attempting the achievement again. With these two solutions combined, this achievement is still a pain, but it is no longer able to be permanently glitched.**

There is a way to avoid the glitch for this achievement, but it's only a preventitive measure - if you've already had the glitch, there's no way to fix it unfortunately (check the note above). This method is not 100% confirmed by me personally, but it works in theory and has been confirmed by others. For more specific info about what I did when I got the achievement, check the last few paragraphs.

**Major credit goes to Bahaumaut on the x360a forums. This idea is entirely his, I'm just posting it here to help people avoid the glitch. For more info about this method and responses to it, check here: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21...

The main way to prevent the glitch is to do your final upgrade (or all your upgrades at once) offline, while not connected to Xbox Live. If the achievement doesn't unlock when it's supposed too, DO NOT sign back online. Instead, go to the dashboard and delete your profile (don't worry, this doesn't do any permanent harm - just make sure you've signed onto Xbox Live recently [so do it before popping in the game and getting the last upgraded to be safe], and delete your profile only - make sure not to choose the other option about all items associated with your profile). Lastly, recover your gametag (don't do this if you have obtained any achievements since going offline, as they will disappear).

This works because your gun upgrading progress is tied to your profile. When you recover your profile, you pull the data for your profile from online (whenever you last signed into Xbox Live) - so by doing that, the game forgets that you got the last upgrade. You are then free to try again for the achievement.

It's not known what exactly causes this glitch, so I will list the exact parameters in which I got the achievement. Keep in mind some/all of these may not be needed - people have gotten the achievement using different methods - I'm just listing everything I did in case one of the details is what prevents the glitch (as opposed to the glitch being completely random). If you do it this way, you should get the achievement, unless the glitch is purely random - in which the above preventitive measure will save you.

I played through the game on Normal, while never upgrading a weapon. You could try playing on Hardcore, but without upgrades it would be tough. After beating the game, I farmed 2-4 as described in Shinerbock88's solution until I had enough Tech Points (you need about 142,000 points to upgrade everything in one go). After getting all the points, I started the level again and went to one of the in-game weapon boxes. Then I did the following steps (again from Bahaumaut's thread):

1) I equipped the Liberator in the first slot (I think it was already equipped).
2) I bought the first upgrade, then after a few seconds, bought the second.
3) I then swapped the first slot to the Magnetar, and repeated step #2.
4+) I repeated #2 for all the guns, specifically doing the top row from left to right, then the bottom row from left to right.
5) After upgrading all the guns, I then went and did step #2 on the jetpack.

I hope this helps, and one more time all credit for the idea goes to Bahaumaut on x360a.

Thanks. This worked great. Unfortunately the achievement did lock offline but I'd rather have a unstamped achievement than no achievement at all. Upvoted this and Molloy's solutions.

So as long as I use the upgrade bench in game for my last upgrade instead of after the mission the achievement will unlock?

Upgrading the last weapons with the Xbox One offline/disconnect from the internet worked for me.

- I upgraded the Liberator as the first gun, after that the rocket booster/jetback. And during the natural playthrough the other weapons.
- I upgraded the rocket booster from the screen before the chapter starts, but the guns from the weapon crate.
- The last 2 guns which I upgraded (offline) were the "Reclaimer" (sniper rifle) and the "Hypercoil" (energy beam gun).

Thank you to the other guides here and I don't want this to be in competition with their solutions - if you're fortunate enough to be reading before starting the game, here's exactly what I did to get this achievement:

- Started a campaign on Normal

- Upgraded the human rifle at the first in-game weapons crate on ‘Spare Parts’ Ep 1 Chap 4 and made sure I continued to the next checkpoint without dying

- Upgraded the human rifle again at the second crate you find in the camp during ‘The Survivors’ Ep 2 Chap 2 and made sure I continued to the next checkpoint

- Didn’t upgrade again and completed the game using my upgraded rifle

- Boosted on ‘Breaking Camp’ Ep 2 Chap 4 on Casual until I had enough tech points to upgrade everything (130,000). I found the following method quick (5000-6000 every 5 or 6 minutes):
* Jump into an AA gun straight away and kill all UFOs
* Clear the 3 waves of attacking foot soldiers
* Jump back into the AA gun and kill all UFOs
* Once there is nothing left to do other than get the energy gun, restart the mission.

- Started ‘The Survivors’ again on Normal and found the same crate as above.

- Then, I upgraded each weapon in turn - the process went:
* Swap the weapon into slot 1
* Exit the crate and fire a few rounds
* Enter the crate and upgrade to level 2
* Exit the crate and fire a few rounds
* Enter the crate and upgrade to level 3
* Exit the crate and fire a few rounds
* Enter the crate and swap to the next weapon

I did the weapons in this order:
* Gravity gun
* Energy gun
* Sniper rifle
* Laser blaster
* Laser rifle

- After all the weapons were done, I upgraded the jet pack in the same way, exiting between upgrades to fly around and fire the guns a bit.

Once the jet pack reached level 3, the achievement popped immediately.

The best way to do this.
1. Play through the game just normally and gain all other achievement you can on the way.
2. Play through again and get all the journals.
3. Play Act II Chapter IV over and over again.
On the first time you should aimfor all the kills achievements, as this will give you loads of Tech points from killing them.
Second time is easier to play and get the journals as you still kill all the enemies and gain the Tech points from them.
If after all this, like i was, you are short of Tech then play Act Ii Chapter IV, as when you destoy the Alien Fighters you get 100. And at any given point you have a chance to kill them. Do so in the AA Guns. This means you can get easily about 7000 to 8000 tech points each time!

Hope this helps.
And if you have some questions ask. As this is first soultion i have written.
Cheers

I got freaked out by the number of people who got this achievement glitched, so I was extra careful with it from the beginning and... it worked! I don't know if this was luck or not, anyhow, here's how I obtained it BEFORE finishing the game my first time. I totally hope this will help others... otherwise I'm sorry, I did what I could. :-/

My gamertag was on Hard disk, and I had "Live! Silver" (not gold... not in that very moment).
I played the game for the first time from level 1-1 to 3-2 on Hardcore in a couple of days, upgrading weapons whenever I could, using crates and pre-mission menus, but always one upgrade at a time (ie: exiting the inventory screen between the upgrades).
Then I started replaying levels (always on Hardcore, never changed difficulty) to find missing diaries, easy achievements and stuff, grinding level 2-4 again and again to gain some tech points... I usually did this level from start to finish, or at least till the fight with 3 Archons. 8000 points in 15 minutes, the best level for grinding.
When my tech points counter hit 100.000, I continued with my main game. I upgraded everything in the final part of level 3-3 from an in-game crate. I follow the natural order of weapons as I received them, jetpack first, thunderwhatever last, but ALWAYS one at a time! Leaving the inventory screen between upgrades... just to be safe. Well, after the last upgrade it popped, with my relief. #-)

PLEASE, if your experience is different but not glitched nonetheless, put a comment here, so we can help out other people. Be precise! Thanks!

There are 6 Weapons that have 3 Levels each that need to be purchased. You will need roughly about 100,000 Tech Points to Upgrade everything. This will be the very last Achievement you will unlock in this game. The best place to get EASY Tech Points is on Chapter 2-4 Breaking Point - On Casual - When the mission starts look up and get into a turret and destroy all the UFO's. Once you do that and get a cut-scene, go to the 3 different yellow markers and kill all the enemies. Once you are told to go to the yellow marker to retrieve the weapon DO NOT! Instead go and find another turret and hop in and destroy all the UFO's. There are about 50-60 in all. Once they are all destroyed get out and you retrieve the weapon, Charge the 4 objects and then destroy the 4 gates. Once you do this you will get a checkpoint. You can now quit and replay the chapter and all your money WILL be saved! Each run will net you around 7000 TECH points.

GLITCHED

Weapons are upgraded by spending tech points. Tech points are acquired by killing enemies, shooting down enemy ships and collecting tech point pickups throughout the game environment (the small red orbs and the larger purple orbs). You can upgrade your weapons at any Weapons Locker in the game environment and at the beginning of each chapter.

In order to acquire enough tech points to upgrade all your equipment, you will have to play the game for a significantly longer amount of time than it will take you to complete the story. Replay your favourite chapter(s) and try to get as many points as possible. The trophy unlocks as soon as your perform the final upgrade.

This will almost certainly be the last trophy you unlock.

This trophy does appear to be glitched. The trophy is not unlocking for some players once they have upgraded all equipment to level 3. As of this writing, the exact cause of the glitch has not been determined. If any further developments arise, I will be sure to update this guide.

To view discussion on this glitch, click here: LINK.

Personally, the trophy unlocked just as it is supposed to. When going through the game, I used a mix of the pre-level screens and Weapons Lockers to upgrade my equipment. The last weapon I upgraded was the Magnetar from level 2 to 3. I recommend using the above link to view the ongoing discussion, then make a decision based upon it. There are several strategies that seemed to have worked for other players contained within those posts. Thanks to all for their efforts on this topic.

During the first playthrough, you won’t be able to improve all the weapons, you have to beat the game three times!!!
