Heroes can always use gear one level higher than their resolve with the exception of level 5 gear requiring level 5 resolve so keep upgrading along with your characters as the blacksmith offers some of the best bang for your buck as your heroes progress. Weapons increase DMG, CRT, and SPD while armor increases HP and DODGE. As this game rewards killing opponents before they can act prioritize weapons over armor given the choice.

As with most buildings in town, you can upgrade the blacksmith using your Heirlooms.
You’ll need 277 Deeds and 301 Crests to fully upgrade the Blacksmith.
There are 3 different perks to upgrade, 2 with 4 upgrades and one with 5 (so 13 in total), see table below for details.
To upgrade the building;
- Go to the blacksmith (the lower right building with the thatch roof, see picture below this list for location)
- Once in the blacksmith press (and hold)
to see the upgrade menu. - Select the upgrade you wish to purchase and confirm by pressing
(you’ll pay and so lose Heirlooms for upgrades). - Purchase all possible Upgrades for the trophy to pop.
if the blacksmith is still closed you need to play more quests to unlock it.
