How to unlock the Zealous Accusation achievement in Darkest Dungeon - Definitive Guide
How to find:
He will appear as a random corridor fight in a random mission, he will only appear if you take crimson cursed heroes with you and more makes him more likely to appear. You will know for certain if he is in a level you are embarking on as the loading screen cutscene is different with a unique narration about the Fanatic.
Strategy:
Depending on the level of the quest he will have different stats, when I fought him he was in his hardest iteration with around 200 HP.
The fight shares mechanics with both the prophet and the hag. He will almost constantly have a hero tied to a stake, where they take constant damage, being spat out when they are at deaths door. He has a small amount of protect, not huge dodge and relatively low bleed/blight resistances. Marking him/debuffing is less effective as he acts multiple times a turn.
He does not deal a lot of damage with his actions but acts at least twice a turn and can stun and otherwise debuff your heroes.
Destroying the bonfire while your hero is on it will spit them out prematurely but gives him a huge buff and frenzies him. So the best strategies is either leave a hero in and focus him down or help your team members and mitigate the oncoming damage with heroes who can guard or with incredibly high dodge.
Important tips:
- He will constantly move between ranks 1-2 to 3-4 so bring heroes who can work at most ranks
- When he sentences a hero it pushes everyone forward one, so plan for any member being taken
- When a hero is spat out from the fire, on deaths door or otherwise, it placed them in rank 1 and pushes the test of your heroes back
- if you retreat while he has someone captive they will die and you will lose all their equipped trinkets
Good luck and if you have any suggestions let me know
-boss missions
-missions where you only have one cursed character, needs minimum of 2
-low infestation, needs medium and high infestation level
Odds of spawning him with 2-3 characters are 20% and 33% for medium and high infestation, respectively. The odds with 4 cursed heroes is 75% regardless of level, but just be careful since his pyre does double damage to cursed heroes so if you want to increase the odds of a successful outcome it's best to bring only 2 cursed heroes.

Once Infestation Level Is Medium Or High, A Town Event Will Occur, Announcing The Arrival Of The Fanatic.
Using At Least One Hero Afflicted By The Crimson Curse, You Have A 20% Chance To Find The Fanatic In A Dungeon On Medium, And 30% Chance To Find Him On High Infestation Levels.
This Is Bad ^
Go Ahead And Get 3 Heroes Infected And Bring Them Into Dungeons.
- This Ups The Chance The Fanatic Shows Up To Around 75%
- Don't Pick Crimson Court Dungeons, And Dont Pick "Boss Levels" (Necromancer, Etc)
- If The Fanatic Is In A Dungeon, The Load Screen Will Be His Unique One.
He Is Roaming Around The Dungeon Like The Collector Does, So Try To Stay Full Health
As Much As You Can.
- If You Encounter Him And Are Not Ready To Fight Him, You Can Retreat - However The Next Fight You Get In Will Be Him Again, So Take The Second To Prepare When You Have It.
The Fight

Fanatic Has 3 Moves A Turn, And Comes With His Trusty Pyre.
The Pyre Acts Like The Hags Cookpot, As He Will Use His First Turn Each Time It Is Free, To Strap A Random Hero It To.
- While On The Pyre, A Hero Takes Damage Down To Zero HP, Then At Deaths Door, Gets Released Back Into Your Formation.
His Other Moves Are Just Small Area Damage + Stress Moves, The Only Real Danger Here Is When A Hero Is Released From The Cookpot At Deaths Door.
- I Had A Very Fast Healer, But A Very Slow One Might Work Too, As You Need To Heal The Burned Guy Before He Gets Smacked By The Boss.
I Used Two Shieldbreakers, Jester, And A Vestal.
- A Hellion + Flagellant, Would Work Fine Instead Of Shieldbreakers, Since The Boss Changes To The Back Row Constantly For Iron Swan And Bleed Damage.
- Make Sure To Grab Hellions Breakthrough Move Because Your Party Gets Moved Around A Lot.
If You Can, Just Dont Attack The Pyre And Let Your Hero Cook, If The Pyre Is Alive The Boss Wont Use His High Stress +Damge Move, So The FIght Should Be Healable With Just Party Heals From The Vestal.
Sheildbreakers Midrange Damage Output In This Fight Turns Out Okay Enough If You Use Their Aegis Abilities To Mitigate Damage.
At Champion (Lvl.5) Mission He's Got Like 220ish Health. And Like 90's In Resistances. So You Could Stun Him With Barbaric Shout Or Vestals Light.

Hope Any Of That Helped!
Good Luck!
Missable: The Fanatic has a limit of 3 town events, once after each of the Courtyard missions leading up to the Countess. If you defeat the countess he will no longer spawn.
The Fanatic will only appear after he has appeared in town and has a chance of spawning if you bring people affected with the Crimson Curse into dungeons. The more people affected with the curse increases his chance of spawning. When he spawns you will see a loading screen with his face and a dialogue line from the Ancestor. He cannot spawn in boss missions as their loading screen take priority. He is similar to the Hag boss and Prophet boss. He will take one of your characters and string them up on the pyre and they will take damage until you deal enough damage to the pyre or they are on death’s door. The Fanatic doesn’t hit hard but deals stress damage. He is weak to bleed and moves around the battlefield a lot. Flagellant works really well against him and same with any character that can hit slots 2-3 as they will always be able to target the Fanatic.
For it to appear, a number of conditions must be met:
1. The level of infection is medium or high.
2. An event in the city with his participation.
3. The presence of infected heroes 1-4.
4. You need to guess the dungeon (there will be an image of the Fanatic on the loading screen).
It is worth keeping in mind that after killing the Countess, the Fanatic will no longer appear in the dungeons and you will need to start a new game to get the trophy. His first appearance was at 9 weeks.
I went through the same way as the second dark dungeon:
4 - Vestal on the heal (trinkets on the heal)
3 - Jester for buff crit, accuracy
2, 1 - Warriors with shields (trinkets for evasion and damage)
We put protection on the jester and the vestal and set up a parry. No matter who the Fanatic hits, he eventually rake. In addition, he is very oblique.
For victory, in addition to family heirlooms, you are given a Cure for the Crimson Curse (2 pcs.)
