How to unlock the It's Definitive achievement in Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition - Definitive Guide

First off, this is just a tad harder than Apoclyptic difficulty, no perma-death or dumb gimmicks here! smile

Now, there are two cheeky exploits that will make this achievement much easier. One lets you buy all the stock of any store even with 0 Gilt (This world's currency) and the other exploit let's you over-upgrade possessed weapons (this can backfire if not careful). I'll go into more detail on how to do both below.

How to buy anything from any shop regardless of Gilt

Go to any store and then go to the Sell tab
Press cn_LB and cn_A with a very very slight delay between each press and it should have you switched over to the Buy tab but with a pop up saying "are you sure you want to sell this item?"
Select Yes and it will buy the item, if you do have Gilt on your character it will use it up, but again you can do this at 0 Gilt and you're able to sell the items back to make profit which you can use to buy abilities from Thane and Draven (You can't use this exploit on them as there is no Sell tab).

The advantages of this exploit are buying the best gear for your level and that you can overstock yourself on health potions! Usually you can only have a max of 5 health potions but I finished the game with 32 left to use.

*Edit* Be cautious when using this glitch with Vulgrim's store!
As mentioned by ViníciusLCH in the comments, if you do this glitch at Vulgrim's Store and use your Boat Coins currency it will actually drop the currency amount into the negative and won't go back to normal until you collect enough Boat Coins to bring it back to zero. This also carries over to New Game+ also.

Here's a video showing how to pull this off incase my instruction aren't clear (Credit to zombiekillerhere) :

How to over-upgrade your possessed weapons

This one is pretty simple, but can backfire if you get too greedy.

Upgrade a possessed weapon until you can't anymore. (The upgrade option text is now red.)
Drop the possessed weapon. (You can't drop it if it's equipped.)
Pick the weapon back up and it will allow you to continue upgrading it.

Use this in tandem with the store exploit above to obtain plenty of items to upgrade you're possessed weapons.

The problem with this is if you keep upgrading you'll eventually see an upgrade option of INVALID ID which if selected will delete one of the possessed weapons effects, so don't get too greedy and you'll be fine.

If you want to know the best effects to use on your possessed weapons my recommendations are:
Critical Chance
Critical Damage
Execution Chance
Health on Kill/Health Regen/Health on Execute

Extra Tips

I chose the Necromancer upgrade tree for this difficulty as the summoned ghouls can help with taking aggro off you in a pinch, I'd recommend spending skill point in all the ghoul skills and maxing each one out before selecting anything else.
If you do choose Necromancer then equip gear that provides Arcane stats as the higher your Arcane the more potent your Necromancer abilites are.
If instead you chose the Harbinger upgrade tree then focus on getting gear with Strength instead of Arcane.

You could at least inform that if you use the shop glitch on Vulgrim your secondary money becomes negative and you won't be able to buy anything in the game anymore, even if you start new game plus.

Ah didn't even know that was a thing, I barely used Vulgrim in my playthrough as I wanted to keep my Boat Coins to ensure I was on track to collecting them all.

I'll update the guide to mention that, thanks.

Yes I believe on starting new game plus you can change the difficulty to Deathinitive and get the achievement fine.
I believe it prompts you in the menu what difficulty you want when you start NG+, if you change difficulty in the options after that point it will more than likely negate you getting achievement.

Just beat the game for the first time, and did in on Deathinitive right away. _Not a single achievement_ popped for me, not the one for completing the game, not the one for defeating Absalom, not the one for completing on Deathinitive. This game is so buggy throughout, it's disgusting. Just a warning to everyone, before you start new game+, make very very sure the Achievements popped. Otherwise, use the option to redo the boss.

From what I understand, this game shares the achievement unlock issue with Darksiders 1 (and its Warmastered edition) that if you ever close the game that it won't trigger achievements again until you have fully closed and relaunched Steam. (Supposedly alt+tab can cause it as well, though I didn't encounter than one myself.)

Edit: Forgot this wasn't the Steam Achievements page, so if you happen to be looking at this guide because no one has posted a guide on the TrueSteamAchievements page, this applies to you. Dunno how that might apply on XboxOne, as I did complete it on XOne.

+1, these were some great tips. On top of the weapon perk recommendation, I'd suggest health steal which really helps in the boss fights. I generally went for a heavy/slow secondary too.

Also, I got the issue as Ich Bin Viele. Annoying, but at least they all popped (as they suggested) After declining NG+, loading my save, and beating the final boss again. It popped as Death walked from the body to the platform edge.
