Defeat Wicked K

How to unlock the Bravo Old Chap achievement in Darksiders II - Definitive Guide

As of May 2013 (confirmed in February 2014) you don't have to get over wave 100 in order to fight Wicked K. And believe me you don't need any video guides to beat him. I think that this "boss" is more like an Easter egg rather than actual BOSS. Ready? Off we go!

0. Make sure you do the following steps on your New Game + and you are Level 25 (otherwise you won't have the Death Grip ability, which is necessary to get to WK).

1. Enter the Crucible and complete first 25 waves (it's very easy even on Apocalyptic), then die on wave 26. (Thanks to Evilplyr for confirmation).

2. Quit, then reenter The Crucible. Return back to the arena and answer "I will choose my own path/way" (something like that) when asked. Then on the right there will be stage select and on the left "Fight Wicked K" option magically appeared!

3. Select it, climb some pillars to reach WK (you will need Death Grip to do that) and kill him quickly (on Apocalyptic it took 3 "teleport strikes" to kill him for me). Cheevo pops here!

OPTIONAL: If you still need to complete the Crucible itself and want it fast, just lower the difficulty to EASY, re-enter the Crucible, select the stage you finished on and complete all waves. On easy it will be like walk in the park. Achievement unlocked!

If you feel like Rider of Apocalypse and want it hard way, then stay on Apocalyptic and go all the way up to Stage 4, where some tricky fights await. Anyway believe me, even on highest difficulty it's not that hard. Just be careful and take your time on waves 85+ and make sure you do the Crucible preferably on your second play-through, be Level 25 (the higher the better - basically because of the helpful skills you can learn) at the very least and have scythes with life steal or high level of "life per kill/crit". For all other things just select those which have maximum Crit Damage and Crit Chance.

Hope that this will help you to get one more achievement, which probably be the last one as it was for me, so congrats!

Good luck and thanks for all the fish. :)

This solution is "the best thing to happen since digital watches."
It's good to know that "Young Serge plays it safe."

You can die earlier than stage 4. Thanks to a stupid mistake I died wave 64. I quit and reenter The Crucible and "Fight Wicked K" appeared.
So you can die stage 3 sure and perhaps stage 2.

Thanks, Diggo. That figures, but I've never tried to find shortest way, just described my own experience. Anyway, if someone will confirm your method I'll edit my solution and move your post up there. ))

I've failed at wave 70 and I had the option to fight him directly..

apparently now you only have to beat the first 25 waves to access wicked k.

Yep, I know that already. I have investigated a little bit on that matter. Though it wasn't officially announced but looks like that devs made this change in the patch last year. Anyway thank you for your input.

Brilliant Solution. Its a shame that it doesn't unlock the Crucile achievement at the same time as its very dull .. a bit like the boring Soul Arbiters Maze. Thumbs Up

Made it past Level 25 did as said and i didn't get the option to fight him, am I doing something wrong that's not in the above?

I Figured it out You have to have all the parts of the crucible unlocked before you can do it. So yes it will have to be on a new game plus

Oh, sorry I forgot to mention that you have to be on a New Game +. I will reflect that in the solution. Thanks for pointing that out!

I had more trouble trying to climb the structure to get to him than fighting him LOL. For some strange reason, apparently when trying to make the jump to the hanging beam, jumping from the top platform will make the jump, but running up the wall from that platform then jumping somehow makes you come up short. It took me about 15 tries before realizing what I was doing wrong, even though by all logical sense what I was doing should have been right.

I just want people to know that the Games on Demand (digital download) version of the game includes the Crucible Pass and you do not have to buy it separately.

Uh, really? Cause I have the digital Games on Demand version of this game and it still tries to charge me $10 for Crucible Pass, even in the in-game store. Care to share your secret?

Unless there's something I'm unaware of, just don't buy it, it's built-in. I still have the option to buy it for $10 from the store, but I popped Pay it Forward towards the beginning of the game, and once I popped the storyline achievement Heart of the Mountain about a third into the game, The Crucible was available and I entered it and fought some waves.

WTF. I just fought Wicked K at level 25 and I couldn't put a single dent in him. What am I doing wrong? I'm seriously getting killed with pretty much one hit from his hat.

edit: did Unstoppable and Reaper Form and made quick work of him.

Perfect!

Ensure you have entered your New Game+ and have got to atleast level 25.

Complete the first 25 waves, then accept the loot. Talk to the guy immediatley after and choose your own path. You will see Wicked K on the left hand side of the dialogue.

Can anyone tell me why this achievement is marked as needing content outside the game?

@SpiritedSojourn, Darksiders 2 came out during a period in video games where, to try and combat people buying used games, new games would come with a 'pass' of some kind. Darksiders 2 shipped with a code for the Crucible Pass, which was needed to unlock the Crucible itself.

Since Darksiders 2 is no longer on the marketplace, I'm not sure if you can buy the pass if you didn't have it already.

Same issue, I beat 25, died on level 26 then quit and went back in. Only 26-50 were available.

Does it have to be on New Game +?

So the trick only works on New Game + after your character is level 25. Once you beat wave 25 of the Crucible you can unlock Wicked K.

I was able to unlock the fight but I didn't have the Deathgrip yet so I had to play the story some more.

Wicked K is unlocked after beating the Crucible in one sitting - waves 1-100. You _cannot_ die/leave without completing all of them in one go. See the following:

Solution for Is There Anyone Else? In Darksiders II

for some help with that. You need to be at least level 25 to unlock waves 75-100 so this will have to be done on New Game+ (as there is a level cap of 22 on your first playthrough).

Once you do that, the Arena will open up and you need to climb up to Wicked K (for which you need the Deathgrip, so make sure you have at least grabbed it from the Foundry). You are permitted to leave after beating wave 100 to restock if you wish (just come back, talk to the Arena Master and choose to start on Wicked K from his wave selection list - the middle will rise again).

Climb up and beat him. He is not particularly difficult if you stay away from him (he has some close up moves that hurt). I was able to do it on level 25 with 5 maxed Teleport Slashes and stacked crit chance (on Easy). For some specific info check out the end of the following guide:

http://segmentnext.com/2012/08/17/darksiders-2-crucible-mode...

Once you beat him you get a scene that makes you think you just took some acid and this nice achievement.

Maybe this is a post-patch thing but I was unable to leave the Crucible after wave 100. I had to go fight Wicked K without being able to restock on potions. Thankfully he isn't that tough.

I am currently a lvl 30, I tried doing the Crucible in one go, but at Wave 75 I get rewarded with a Chest and I can't continue forward to Waves 76-100... Is this a glitch? I have tried this twice, and at wave 75 I can't continue. :(

Yeah made the same mistake, you have to get the last invitation (The Devil) from the Serpent Tome to continue.

He is stupidly easy. I hit 3 times with teleport and he was done. I was thinking, that can't be it?

I've just noticed that Wicked K is available for me to fight as well without beating all 100 waves. I quit after beating Wave 75 on a New Game + on Apocalyptic. When I spoke to the arena master, as well as the options to choose which wave you start at, the option to fight Wicked K was also there. Hoping it wasn't just a fluke one time thing as I didn't have time to do it last night!

I can confirm the above. I made it to wave 99 on New Game+ on Easy and died. Wicked K is available and I beat him (for the achievement) without completing the Crucible to Wave 100.

Ditto. Got to Wave 100. Died and was still able to access Wicked K when I returned to the Crucible.

I am having an issue. I am playing through my new game + to get the final achievements. I reached level 30, completed the crucible, and defeated Wicked K but none of the achievements popped.

I have tried clearing the cache, updating the game, and beat Wicked K several times none of which resolved my problems. I also contacted THQ but have little faith in them to fix the problem given how the oldest posts on their website were 3 years old.

Has anyone encountered this issue or have any ideas on how to resolve it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanna confirm that you dont have to beat all 100 waves to get to wicked k i died on wave 70 and after being pissed off i went back and talked to the arena master and selected choose my own path and i saw that i could select waves 2-4 and on the right wicked k so i chose him and as stated in this guide had to climb up to him but this is a great guide tho no doubt a positive from me but im not sure if it was a glitch that let me go on to wicked k without finishing all 100 waves of the crucible i just thot i should let people know about this

Requires the Crucible Online Pass
Wicked K is the secret boss found at the end of the Crucible. Wicked K automatically unlocks if you clear waves 1-25, 25-50, 50-75, or 75-100 in one go without quitting (Credit to kakihara301). After you clear one set of the waves you will be able to face Wicked K whenever you want. So do not worry about dying on him and having to repeat a series of 25 waves again to attempt him.

For more information about the Crucible see the Is There Anyone Else? trophy in this guide.

Sometimes there may be a lag that makes it impossible to reach the Wicked K.

I’ll describe it using my own example: I passed the 100th level of “Cornilla” without restarts or deaths, and I think, now I have platinum in my pocket! But when I tried to climb up to the newly formed building, I encountered an insurmountable obstacle - trying to jump from a wooden beam onto a wall covered with roots, Death either fell, refusing to cling to the roots, or was completely unable to get to the other side along the wall.

And here it’s worth saying the main thing that I was leading to: Unholy K is considered a SEPARATE stage of the Gornilla (In the event that all the conditions for the battle with him are met), so you can safely make a save, restart the game, and go fight with a calm soul by this tea lover.

To access the boss, you need to go through all 100 waves of the Crucible, starting from the first, without dying or restarting from the checkpoint. The 101st wave will be the boss, and they give a trophy for him.

It is not necessary to complete the entire crucible to fight Unholy K. I made it to crucible level 74, died, loaded up, and ended up in the “waiting room” in front of the arena. I went to the main one, started a conversation with him and chose the option: “I will choose my own path” and they offered me to fight the wicked.

Small addition: to get to Unholy K. you will definitely need Death Grip.

If you don't want to go through all 100 waves without dying or restarting, leave this trophy for NG+ (you'll have to level up to level 30 one way or another).

Complete waves 1-25, reach level 25. Now, when choosing the line “I will choose my own path” in dialogue with the crucible manager, it will be possible to fight the Unholy K.
